Full textDigitization is a major issue of interest in the field of cultural heritage, allowing on the one hand the long-term safeguard of collector’s pieces, and on the other hand to valorize them under a new revelatory way. In collaboration with the Musée d’Ethnographie de Bordeaux (MEB), this thesis work has the objective of proposing an innovative solution in terms of digitization, by answering the following problem : how to faithfully reproduce the appearance of a collector’s piece, such that the digital version is, to the eye, indistinguishable from the real object ? The size of the objects to be digitized as well as the resolution necessary to obtain the desired quality imply an astronomical quantity of measurements to be carried out, forming a real technical and scientific challenge. This thesis proposes to respond to this observation by producing an innovative imagebased acquisition prototype, formed by a dome covered with 1080 LEDs within which a camera on a robotic arm evolves. This work is first supported by a bundle of preliminary research, focusing on the theoretical and practical issues attached to such a measurement. This notably made it possible to highlight to what extent diffraction plays an important role in BRDF measurements, far beyond the usual criteria. In this sense, a new metrologically viable data processing algorithm has been proposed. Supported by these achievements, the digitization prototype has been designed, produced, calibrated and finally successfully used for the safeguarding of the cultural heritage. This new, constantly evolving instrument then lays the foundation stone for many areas of future research, both focused on optimizing the measurement process and on exploiting the generated data

Full textThis work deals principally with the question of High speed Analog Data Acquisition·. We constructed an Acquisition System based on 2 cascaded A/D converters (each with a capacity of 50 MHz-8 bits), with a sample rate of 100 MHz, a total accuracy of 8 bits, and a memory of 8 K-bytes. This system has a number of different functions, for example the "burst function" which consists in encoding only certain parts of the input signal or, for example, a function that permits the advance programming of the total volume of the acquisition memory·. The ensemble is subsequently connected to a computer, specifically tailored for the system (IN11O). In addition, v1e investigated the possibility of a high-speed sample-and-hold circuit, constructed in order to be connected to the input of the Acquisition System. This circuit was designed to be more performant than that which would have been strictly necessary for the connection. The system was designed to obtain a sample rate of 120 MHz with a corresponding accuracy of 12 bits. The study of the entire system (the sample-and-hold circuit in conjunction with the Analog Data Acquisition System), thus allowed for the development of new structures that made optimal use of the avail technology

Full textThe EDELWEISS experiment aims to detect WIMPs, hypothetical and elusive particles which could possibly amount for all or part of the dark matter in the universe. For that purpose, it uses cryogenic germanium detectors able to record both the rise in temperature and the ionisation created by a WIMP interaction in the semi-conductor crystal bulk. This thesis work focuses on the last data taking campaign of phase I of the experiment. It is centered around three main points. In a first part, we present the elaboration of a new numerical acquisition system, based on a heat channel trigger, contrary to the previous system which was based on an ionisation channel trigger. In a second part, we expose the complete analysis of the data acquired with this new system, from the calibration of each measurement channel to the extraction of a result in terms of sensitivity to a WIMP signal. Lastly, we dedicate a whole chapter to a further analysis of the high energy data, as well as to the interpretation of the different radioactive backgrounds we observe, in order to prepare the next phase of the experiment due to start at the end of 2005

Full textThe aim of this thesis is to propose a method for precise half-life measurements adapted to nuclides with half-lives of a few seconds. The FASTER real-time digital acquisition system gives access to the physical characteristics of the signal induced by the detection of each decay during the counting period following beam implantation. The selection of the counting data can be carried out by an optimized post-experimental offline analysis. Thus, after establishing the influence factors impacting the measurement (pile up, gain and base line fluctuations), we are able to estimate, a posteriori, their impact on the half-life estimation. This way, we can choose the deposited energy threshold and dead time in order to minimize their effect. This thesis also proposes a method for measuring and then compensating for influence factors variations. This method was applied to estimate the 19Ne half-life with a relative uncertainty of 1.2 10-4 leading to T1 / 2 = 17.2569 (21) s. This is the most precise measurement to date for this isotope
