The study evaluated the physical, chemical, technological and microbiological characteristics of the vegetable drink from A. aculeata, in different proportions of pulp dilution: water (1:10, 1:15 and 1:20 m/m), extraction temperatures (30, 50 and 80ºC), after thermal treatment at 60ºC20min-1 and in natural conditions. Titratable acidity values were below 0.1%, indicating low levels of organic acids. The pH varied close to neutrality (pH 6-8), favoring the non-precipitation of proteins. The soluble solids contents were low, varying from 1 to 2 °Brix before the heat treatment, and from 0.3 to 1.

A new palm species is described in detail, including the morphological characteristics and the leaf anatomy that distinguish it from other species of the genus. Acrocomia corumbaensis has an arborescent habit similar to A. aculeata, A. crispa, A. intumescens and A. totai, however with an inflorescence of a different color, flowers that are green when mature, smaller fruits and seeds. Its leaf anatomy reveals structures similar to those in the other Acrocomia species indicating its position in the genus, but with distinct particularities.

Oviposition and predation levels by Speciomerus revoili bruchid beetles were quantified on fruits and seeds of the macaúba palm, Acrocomia aculeata, collected from below mother-trees within the Sarah Kubitschek Park of Brasília, DF, Brazil. A maximum of 12 eggs per fruit were found, with high variations observed between samples. The pulp was characterized in the presence and absence of lead using Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), thermogravimetric analysis (TG-DTA), and scanning electron microscopy (SEM).
