The article examines the variability of simple sentences with actant content in modern English. The sentence is presented as an important factor for communication. It is noted that for language to be a means of communication, there must be a sentence as in order to communicate, it is necessary to make a sentence. Any sentence has an actant (an argument). Actants are generally accepted as words added to the verb. A verb expresses an action or state. The paper describes various ways in which the complementary actant of the Lithuanian adjective can be signalled on the surface level, and draws several conclusions concerning the relationship between semantic and syntactic valency.Although

This article explores the concept of reality and the transformation concerning the complex approach to the modes of existence based on the interrelation between diverse actants that make up our world. Considering recent ontological debates and critiques of modernity, the article argues for a shift away from ready-made suppositions about reality and the desire for simplified answers. We propose a radical idea of an actant interaction perspective grounded in Bruno Latour’s and Hartmut Rosa’s ideas of exploring an ontology embracing curiosity, imagination, and the importance of making mistakes as

The study aims to interpret the shift of grammatical person in the semantic structure of verbs participating in compound predication. The article examines the compound verbal predicate in an ergative language, represented by verbs from various corpora, comparing them with Russian compound predication, irrespective of corpus verb distribution. Verbs of the simple predicate in the ergative language are differentiated into three core corpora (nominative, ergative, and affective) depending on the person of the paradigm encoded in the verb’s semantic structure as the main valency. Fac

Jane Bennett’s vital materialism develops positive ontological commitments to lively matter and resistant vitality, articulated using notions of actant and assemblage, thing-power and the out-side. I show that these ontological commitments reveal a limit for traditional modes of human knowing, favoring an emergent epistemology that attends to the ways actants and assemblages express themselves. I then argue for an account of acting that positions humans as guests of vibrant matter. This change of markers is triggered by the direction taken by Y between X and Z. This movement is deemed to be a universal semantic trait. It is proposed to call it "transference." Forward transference (FT) is that of verbs like "give", and backward transference (ВТ) that of verbs like "take." Transference is reversed in a few PA- verbs. The present study aims at analyzing the narrative structure of the famous short story “The Gift of the Magi” by implementing Greimas’s (1966) Actantial Model. “The Gift of the Magi” is written by O. Henry. It is quite enigmatic to find out the real subject of the story as both Della and Jim seem to be the subject and object at the same time. The Actantial model of Greimas is a wonderful framework to solve this puzzle. Therefore, the study tries to identify the real ‘subject’ of the story, analyzing the text of the story by applying Greimas’ model of Actantial. Not only this, but the study also
