Full textIn order to increase the frequency band of absorption of usual porous materials, the "Centre Acoustique du LMFA" works on the design of hybrid materials using passive and active absorption. The basic principle consists in vanishing by active control the pressure at the rear face of the material, with well-suited characteristics, to achieve a maximum absorption. This thesis deals with the optimisation of the active part, which means a design of a powerful secondary source, including vibroacoustic coupling from the cavities and the effect of wiremesh and the implementation of a digital feedback diagonalised IMC control algorithm. An experiment using four independent cells proves the good functioning of the controller in a duct with flow : very important noise reductions were achieved in the low frequency band

Full textThis research work is interested in the use of travelling wave ultrasonic motor within the framework of a context of force feedback as an alternative choice with regard to the electromagnetic motor which is often used in the haptic domain. So, from a study on the dynamic and mechanical characteristics of the motor USR30, we proposed a global model in GIC who takes into account the intrinsic not linear phenomena in the motor. By inverting this model of GIC, we manage to validate two types of control in force feedback; finally, by presenting the experimental results based of the platform of 1ddl of digitracker, the realization of a virtual environment which includes a virtual spring and a virtual wall becomes possible

Full textA given mechanical system is dependant on its environment at the time of its operation. The excitation sources and the connections with its environment makes the system produces adverse effects such as the noises and the vibrations. Such a system behaves according to positive and total natural laws'. Active control aims to act on these laws and makes it possible to confer on the system a behavior with better dynamic performances. With this intention one integrates into the basic structure a set of sensors to measure its vibratory state and a set of actuators to apply a command generated by a controller in order to bring the structure in a state fixed before. In this work, it is a question of studying the active control of light and flexible structures using peizoelectric materials. These structures are abundantly used in aeronautical construction. A fundamental problem arises during the control of such structures : it is the phenomenon of the modal contamination (effet Spillower) which occurs as instabilities

Full textThe superimposition of vibration during forging is known to reduce force and improve the mechanical properties of the workpiece. Until now, ultrasonic frequencies were used, but more recent results have shown that more complex vibrations at low frequencies had similar effects, with less power. Although piezoelectric actuator can generate high forces and have large rigidity, they are still limited with regards to the necessary forces during forging. Therefore, this work addresses the design of a worktool combining several actuators to generate complex vibration waveforms consisting in rotations in the plane of the die and displacement along the vertical direction. It relies on the use of flexible hinges due to the small displacement generated by the actuators. The design and control of the system is realized using a systemic approach based on the Energetic Macroscopic Representation. Thank to this tool, the control is systematically deduced by inversion. The design and its control strategy is validated experimentally on a mock-up specially realized during this work

Full textThe ability to control wall turbulence could be important for reducing skin friction, delaying transition and separation points. The use of new techniques could be potentially beneficial in many applications. This work aims at finding efficient means to reduce skin friction drag in a turbulent boundary layer. The central elements of the self-sustaining cycle which exists in turbulent boundary layers are the near-wall coherent structures whose dynamics control the turbulence production. Quasi-streamwise vortices and streaks of low and high-speed evolve through a secondary instability mechanism. Time and length scales of these structures have been known for quite some time. Recent results have shown that a spanwise forcing could lead to a conclusive control effect [Du, Symeonidis & Karniadakis, JFM 2002], results obtained by direct numerical simulations of a turbulent channel flow, with a body force (the control) which weakens the streaks and reduces the frequency of ejections. The present study aims at reproducing these effects experimentally, by replacing the body force with a "smart" moving wall generating the spanwise wave. The wall movement is achieved through piezo-electric actuators placed underneath the wall, producing a sizable deflection via an array of cantilever beams, yielding the desired wall movement. The control module has been built and tested at the LEEI (ENSEEIHT, INPT). Key elements of wall turbulence are first reproduced by embedding large scale streaks within a laminar boundary layer. Measurements have first been focused on quantifying the effect of the actuators. In the presence of organized streaks the results have shown that the control module generally excites the instability of the streaks; some of these effects corroborate the numerical findings: the travelling wave affects the mean flow. In the turbulent case the effect produced is less remarkable. Further developments for an amelioration of the technique are discussed
