Event tourism as a part of overall economic activities, with its own economic effects, has a role in opening of less developed regions towards potential investors manufacturers and consumers and also in improving employment and overall national income. This paper will point out the events in less developed regions of Serbia, as a base for development of touristic and overall economy.

The article is devoted to the theoretical issues of tourism as a science and considers the genesis and evolution of the scientific paradigm oftouristics, the establishment of scientific terminology (touristics, tourismology, tourism studies). The authors employ the term ´touristics´ and claim that touristics is a complex scientific
field and an interdisciplinary research area.
Glossaries define touristics as comprising an entire system of tourism sciences, tourist activities, tourist economy, tourist management and tourist legislation. The article states that the theory of tourism originated
from economic sciences, which ensures a high level of development that tourist economy, management, marketing, advertising and holiday industry demonstrate today, each contributing to the core oftouristics. However, it would be shortsighted to underestimate the value of geographical and geospatial scientific knowledge for the development oftouristics, which covers geographical space as well as economy. The article views geotouristics as a distinct scientific field studying as its object the continual and discrete (discontinuous) tourism and recreation environment as existing within geographical space. The subject of touristic scientific research encompasses objects of tourist interest, constituents of tourist infrastructure, their nature-oriented and geo-ecological aspect, social and demographic features of the indigenous population and the changes they undergo in the course of tourist and recreational territory development. Finally, the article evaluates the methods and prospects oftouristics.

Slănic Moldova town is in a great development, being sustained by the glorious oldtime image: ”Moldova‟s Pearl”. The recent accomplishments, the implementation projects and the short and medium time investment programs aim not only to affirm the resort at a regional level, but to transform it in to an authentic “Romanian tourism pearl”. Developing Slănic Moldova town will aim to develop its natural resources. For the years to come, it is willing to sustain a long-lasting economy especially based on touristic services at a European level, but also on diversifying the local economic activities, in respect for the nature and permanent environment preoccupation. In order to reach certain values the contribution of all factors that can determine the town‟s socio-economic development are needed: the local community and the local‟s support, keeping the environment intact and not the least increasing the number of tourists. Slănic Moldova will be one of the main touristic balneoclimatheric mountain destinations in Romania having a diverse and attractive touristic offer during the entire year, high quality touristic services, in an exceptional, pollution free, natural environment. Slănic Moldova will pass through an essential stage of its development, in which the national and external touristic context will be redefined. The development of an agro-ecotourism product in the A&T Agricola and touristic company was the objective of this research project. The first stage of this project consisted in the collection of primary and secondary information through field visits and literature review. It was identified that local and international tourist will be the target audience of this product (target demand). Furthermore, a complete inventory of touristic sites in the zone were created. This inventory identified five natural attractions and five cultural attractions, with five attractions reaching level II of hierarchy. To target tourist, four packages were designed using touristic and agro-ecological activities. In the second stage of this project, economic, legal, and environmental feasibility analyses will be performed. Finally, the agro-ecotourism product proposed in this project is an alternative for the development of the local population as it takes into account the local agriculture in conjunction with ecological activities targeted to the improvement of the society economically and culturally.

Ecuador is the country with the most widely diversified land mass per square mile in the whole world. It has countless live ecosystems and cultures, and it contains 11% of the world’s biodiversity. These conditions have resulted to the development of the most interesting touristic activities. The province of Chimborazo is located at the very center of the Inter-Andean Highway and is known as the “Province of the Tall Peaks.” The tallest of which is the volcano Mt. Chimborazo with a height of 6,310 mts (20,700 ft.). It, however, gave its name to the province itself. The train that runs down through the center of Ecuador to the Devil’s Nose Mountain makes the province optimum for touristic activity. The small city of Calpi is one of the best known historic areas of Riobamba County. This is because in its interior, there are a lot of natural attractions for tourists. The community which is known as “The Royal Palace” tries to conserve its natural resources as well as to preserve its natural identity. During the past few years, this community has developed a lot of touristic activity since the Plan for Touristic Development is being organized for that zone. Tourism is being considered as an activity for the productive development that will augment and strengthen the local economy.

Abstract The touristic expansion happens easier in a balanced climate, with standards that guarantee a constant ecologic balance and avoid the overuse of resources, pollution and any other negative impacts on the environment. MICE – Meeting, Incentive, Convention and Exhibition Industry – represents one of the industries with the highest rate of growth in the world, but unfortunately it is poorly developed in Romania. In Romania, the tourism, as a socio–economic phenomenon, integrates in the country’s economy, having the necessary conditions for accentuated growth and the optimisation of the degree of usage of the touristic stock. According to the recommendations of the World Tourism Organisation, Romania should focus on the cultural, ecologic, events and spa tourism. The prognosis of the World Tourism and Travel Council from the United States of America show that by the year 2020, the rhythm of growth of the business and events tourism in Romania will be of about 8% yearly. In this context, our country may occupy an important position in the MICE touristic activities market, if it would use the existing touristic potential and future investments in order to create favourable conditions for this type of tourism. We bring into the debate the existence of equipment which could help the business tourism, the presence of beautiful landscape areas (the Danube Delta, the Black Sea seaside, medieval cities and monasteries, touristic resorts from the Carpathians also.), presentation of the local folk traditions and crafts, the chromatic spectrum of the seasons in Romania and not lastly the folklore and gastronomy. These could be joined by the existence of a rich cultural life – especially in the large cities and touristic resorts-, the presence of museums and memorial houses, and we could not exclude the areas which have preserved their natural potential and rare fauna species. This work aims to emphasize business tourism as a sustainable form of tourism, which can lead to a relaunch in services and economic development of the local communities in a competitive international economy.

Europe is considered one of the most attractive and safe prevalent tourist destinations in the entire world. Approximately half (47.4%) of European tourist visits occurred in coastal regions, defined “on the basis of and consist of local administrative units or municipalities that border the sea, or have at least half of their total surface area within a distance of 10 km from the sea.” Destinations such as Malta, Greece, Cyprus, Spain and Croatia presented with an increased level of tourist accommodation establishments, as well as, the overall flow of tourism in the European Union is mostly concentrated on Mediterranean coastal regions (as nine out 10 tourists, in 2015, spent their holidays at coastal areas). This paper, is dealing with the assessment of a tourist area and how the concept of urban metabolism has been affected by touristic activities. Moreover, this research using several key performance indicators such as waste compositional analysis, the clean coast index, the accumulation rate, and accumulation index, etc., tries to measure the level of environmental performance, and furthermore, to assess the existing infrastructures and the waste management plan, that are being implemented. The results are very useful, for any policy-maker, as well as competent authorities and/or tourist organizations which are dealing with tourist activities and aim to propose or re-schedule any waste strategy targeting the goals of United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, European Green Deal, and the new circular economy strategy.

Tourism is one of the most promising driver and contributor of the world economy having significant role in sustainable development, economic upliftment and social benefits. It has the potential to contribute towards environmental protection and poverty reduction. Prior to investment in tourism, concerned authorities must know the condition of respective tourist resources, their attractiveness and levels of touristic demand. Very few studies in Nepal have made an effort to quantify the tourism potential in cultural, historical and religious sites such as Bhaktapur Durbar Square. With an objective to assess the tourism potential of Bhaktapur Durbar Square using Weighted Sum Method, this study was carried out from start of June to the end of July in 2013. For this purpose, questionnaire survey with tourists, private businesses and public sector institutions; focus group discussion and key informant interview with tourism enterpreneur and local government officer was carried out. The tourism potential was found to be high with a strength of exceptionally rich cultural, historical and religious heritage, favourable geographical situation, positive image of local Newari food products and friendly and welcoming local people. The areas of weaknesses were lack of tourism infrastructures and services, lack of tourist information and weak management of tourist area. Hence, to utilise the tourism potential of Bhaktapur Durbar Square to the fullest for the economic upliftment of its inhabitants, promotional activities such as tourism fairs, festivals, cultural dances and events should be conducted at regular intervals with prompt security services. The strategies of sustainable development emphasize the interdependence between the local and the global, between the already developed countries and the ones following this course, underlining the necessity of cooperation within economical, social and environmental sections. Since, tourism plays an important role in the improvement standards of living and rising people above the poverty threshold, it has become a platform to transform the vicious circles of misery, into virtuous circles towards productive transformation, welfare and improvement of human capita/. The complexity involved in constructing knowledge in different contextual frames make the entire debate on sustainable tourism extremely problematic, especially since stake holding communities are spread across continents and cultures. Many developing countries have found important to improve the linking of tourism (forward and backward) with the other sectors of the economy, so as to capitalize on the benefits of the globalisation and internationalisation of markets. Despite developing countries effort to develop the most suitable domestic policy environment, the economic sustainability of tourism is being undermined by external factors beyond their control, notably the predatory behaviour of integrated suppliers which enjoy a dominant position in the originating markets of tourism flows. Today, the Romanian hospitality industry confronts itself with problems such as the decline of the internal and external touristic demand, an old touristic product, the low standard in the services which do not satisfy the tourists' expectations, the payment and too high prices compared to the quality of the services, an insufficient promotion. Among the countries from the East and Center Europe, Romania is considered the country which possesses the richest and most varied natural touristic resources created by man and this gives a great disposability for tourism. The Romanian international touristic demand registers a diminution tendency due to some causes such as the low quality level of the offered touristic services, the touristic services non-diversification, the reduced amusement possibilities. Regional development policy is an ensemble of measures planned and promoted by the local and central public administration authorities, having as partners different actors (private, public, volunteers) in order to ensure a dynamic and lasting economic growth, through the effective use of the local and regional potential, in order to improve living conditions. The main areas regarded by the regional policies are development of enterprises, the labor market, attracting investments, development of the SMEs sector, improvement of infrastructure, the quality of the environment, rural development, health, education, culture. Any tourism growth and development activities in Romania should not be myopic and sustainability should be ensured at all levels: both inter and intro-generational.

The North Sulawesi Tourism Sector is a tourism rising star in Indonesia with a 600% growth of foreign tourists visiting North Sulawesi. The growth of tourists will encourage the growth of tourist expenditure which will have an impact on the economy. Research on the impact of tourism on the economy has been carried out. In general, research on the economic impact of tourism activities uses a sector approach related to tourism economic activities such as hotels, restaurants, transportations, and recreational activities sectors. This study uses an approach by forming the tourism sector independently to obtain the results of a more accurate calculation and analysis of the economic impact of the tourism sector. Input-Output Analysis is used as an instrument of linking and multiplier analysis of outputs and incomes of the people of North Sulawesi in 2018. Linkage analysis (forward and backward linkage) shows that the tourism sector in the economy of North Sulawesi is a key sector. The output multiplier and income multiplier are created by tourist expenditure in 2018 are 1.83 for the multiplier output and 1.88 for the multiplier income. With a tourist expenditure of 4.56 trillion rupiahs in 2018, it will create an economic output of 8.38 trillion rupiahs and create an income of 1.28 trillion rupiah. Cordisburgo apresenta um discreto crescimento na atividade turística, demandando uma maior divulgação e capacitação de recursos humanos, possibilitando um maior desenvolvimento econômico, através dos vários segmentos da atividade turística. O objetivo deste estudo é promover a divulgação e a informação dos atrativos turísticos do patrimônio cultural, natural e da infraestrutura do município, para turistas e visitantes, utilizando como instrumento de apoio a cartografia turística. A elaboração da pesquisa consistiu em três etapas, sendo a primeira uma pesquisa documental e bibliográfica com levantamento dos aspectos físicos e atrativos naturais e culturais de Cordisburgo; na segunda etapa foram realizados trabalhos de campo para a identificação, coleta de coordenadas geográficas, e a última consistindo na elaboração do mapeamento turístico. Cordisburgo, which presents a limited growth, demands more intense efforts in spread and in training of human resources, in order to allow greater economic development, through the various segments of the tourist activity. This study aims to promote the broadening and information about the tourist attractions, the cultural and natural heritage, and on the municipal’s infrastructure, for tourists and visitors, making of the tourist cartographya fundamental tool to support it. This work consisted of three stages, being the first a literature review, characterized by the study of physical, natural and cultural attractions of Cordisburgo; meanwhile the second counts on an intense fieldwork, needed for the georeferencing of the tourist attractions, and, the third one, allowed the elaboration of the tourist cartography. A survey about tourist attractions and local infrastructure has been carried out, resulting in the elaboration of cartographic products, and enabling the development and planning of tourist activities. This work enabled the elaboration of Cordisburgo’s tourist cartography, providing an important tool for the implementation of touristic activities and, consequently, of the local economy.</p><p> </p><pre><strong>Keywords: </strong>Tourism. The article is concerned with basic concepts related to development of an ecological-excursion cluster in the Rostov region. The socio-economic conditions of its formation are described. The research base on which the research related to the study of touristic clusters is found is reviewed. It also gives grounds for the possibility of functioning of the ecological and recreational cluster, defines its functions and importance for the development of inbound and domestic tourism, the economy and the social sphere of the region. The zoning of the territory of the Rostov region according to the prevailing types of ecological and recreational clusters is proposed and the specifics of their activities and the development of types of tourism are indicated.

The purpose of this study is to indicate primary school students' views on changes in the socioeconomic and cultural structures of population, which stem from touristic activities. The ffects of variables on these views will be tested in the study. 676 primary school students of sixth, seventh, and eighth grade in Safranbolu, Karabük participated in the study. Data were collected by 5-point Likert type questionnaire developed by Özüpekçe (2008). Results mirrored that students' views on touristic activities were generally positive. It was also seen that students' views differed significantly according to the variables such as school's geographic position, students' grades, and families' economic status.

National parks belong to the most important category of specially protected natural territories in the Kazakhstan. One of the most important tasks of national parks is to promote ecological tourism and education with reference to the natural and cultural peculiarities of their territory. The Katon-Karagay State National Natural Park is the largest national park with the highest rate of growth in terms of touristic activities in Kazakhstan. It was created in 2001 due to good state of its natural landscapes and biodiversity. At present, the Katon-Karagay National Park is a part of the Big Altai transboundary biosphere reserve organized in 2017. Within the national park 4 functional zones are established: the strictly protected, buffer, tourist and recreational activity, and limited economic activity. The touristic and recreational activity zone plays a major role for tourism development. In this zone the most tourist routes are functioned. In the article we assess both the landscape diversity of the tourist routes and tourist and recreational activity zone. For this the original landscape map was compiled for the national park territory at 1 : 500 000 scale. We identify 63 landscapes types combined into 5 landscape classes. Assessment of landscape diversity was carried out on the basis of geographic information technologies.

The objective of this current study is to identify the issue of tourist expatriate labor, its effects on the touristic and economic levels, its ways of evaluation, the manner of dealing with its reasons and motivations, and the ways of replacing it with local labor. However, this labor is able to fill the gap to and from a pure Jordanian touristic product. In addition, it is able to obtain the maximum benefit from tourist activity. The results of the study revealed that the expatriate labor represents 17.6% of the total labor in the Jordanian tourist sector. Therefore, most of these labors are concentrated in hotels and tourist restaurants. Tourism is one of the Jordanian sectors that do not attract local labor, but are attractive to expatriate labor. The expatriate labor in the Jordanian tourist sector is complementary. Hence, it is not a substitute for the tourist professions. The study recommended the need to develop local tourist workers by holding courses for the Jordanian workers in the tourist hotels and restaurants. Also, training on lingual and specialized tasks which focuses on the medium university education should be provided for them. Also, vocational training corporations should be organized. This in turn fills the gap of the tourist activities that attract expatriate labor and amendment legislation and laws relating to wages and the nature of work in the tourism sector. Hence, this is aimed to attract local tourist labor.

The article considers the issues of further development of the conceptual apparatus of such a direction as recreation and tourism and the question of determining the various directions and components of recreation and tourism economy. The purpose of this work is to identify the main components of recreational and tourist activity as an integral part of the inter-sectoral complex. It is stressed that tourism activity can be viewed from the standpoint of the economy, because it has all the features of the economy, although this approach is not widespread. It is also possible to study the recreation and tourism sector as a type of economic activity. Recreational and tourist activity is considered as a service market, both as a social system and as an economic system. It was emphasized that in geography and regional economy, recreational and tourist activity is considered as an inter-sectoral complex. A pivotal problem is the definition of objects and entities in systemic relations, where, depending on the nature of the system, tourists can act as objects and subjects. It was established that the formation of the subject area of recreational and tourist activity is based on geographical concepts, including the concept of «touristdestination», the concept of territorial organization of the population and economy, the concept of territorial recreational systems. The position of geographers in the development of the subject area of tourism enhances resource orientation of tourism activity; we note that the resource is both population and tourist destinations. In the article we considered the Ukrainian taxonomy of types of economic activities, which are directly involved in tourism and recreation. It is determined that tourism and recreation sector occupy a special place in the sphere of services. In essence, tourist services are multi–component, and the tourist product itself combines the result of the activities of enterprises that carry out completely different activities. The schematically structured recreation and tourism complex by types of activities indicates the formation of areas of economic activity and industry directly related to recreation and tourism, such as mass recreation of the population – unorganized and organized, and tourism, the sphere of recreation. Thus, the representation ofrecreation and tourism activity as an inter-branch complex offers new possibilities for forecasting its development and formation of new directions of use of recreational and tourist resources.

Objective - Creative communities have the potential to increase a city’s social, economic, and touristic values. Despite their evident existence in Surabaya, these communities lack support in terms of public spaces and exhibition facilities with suitable designs that could accommodate their unique activities and communicate their aspirations to the public. This research-design project aims to prove the social and economic benefits of the human-centered design process by implementing various human-centered design approaches in the interior design of creative community spaces (CCS) so that they can accommodate the unique activities of existing creative communities and serve as assembly points for entrepreneurial or start-up groups. Methodology/Technique – Two teams of interior designers were tasked to design a community space and exhibition facility for two creative communities in Surabaya. A combined method based on different human-centered design approaches of applied ethnography, participatory design, co-design, contextual design, emphatic design, and lead user approach was conducted through six stages of design process consisting of: Empathize, Point of View, Define, Ideate, Prototype, and Test. Findings & Novelty - The results of this research-design project are novel designs of community co-working spaces and exhibition facilities based on the unique human values, hobbies, and characteristics of the creative community that proved the social and economic benefits of human-centered design in the practice of interior design. Through the design of the creative community spaces yielded, interior and building designers can promote the activities and aspirations of existing creative communities such that they may, in turn, contribute to the development of Surabaya’s social, economic, and touristic values. The division of the area into zones, fully protected, partially protected, and a fishing zone, permits a combination of extractive (fishing) and touristic activities. The consequences for species conservation, commercial fishing, and touristic activities are analysed for a set of different area-size distributions and fishing-effort levels. The model parameters are based on Medes Islands MPA in the northwestern Mediterranean. For the case study, the economic analysis includes revenues from scuba diving, glass-bottom boat trips, and commercial fisheries. Our results help to illustrate the benefits of the coexistence of extractive and non-extractive activities in a realistic, three-level MPA.

Apart from functioning as a public transportation tool, Bendi also has an important role in tourism, which is used around to transport tourists both from within and outside the country. The activity carried out by Bendi can increase the income of the local people who use Bendi as a regional tourism promotion tool. How is the existence of a Traditional Transport Tool in the midst of modern transportation in Indonesia?; How is this traditional Bendi transport regulated in Indonesia’s national regulations? and What is the support of traditional Bendi transportation for regional economic development where its position is as a means of transportation? Is the subject matter in writing this paper. The research method used is normative, using secondary data and primary data as supporters, through interviews with some observers of traditional transport equipment. Then it will be analyzed descriptively. The conclusion obtained is that in a certain area, there are provisions for regional regulations that regulate the existence of these Bendi traditional transportation equipment, such as in the Yogyakarta area. Traditional Bendi transportation support as a supporter of the regional economy through tourism activities is very large, such as those found in the Yogyakarta area, where Bendi is always there to surround tourist areas that deliver domestic and foreign tourists in visiting tourist areas, as well as in West Sumatra, Padang, Bendi still exists even though it is rare, but it is still used as a tourism and cultural transport tool.

The COVID-19 pandemic has caused havoc in many economic areas such as those related to tourism. This creates the need for alternative activities in this sector, especially given that it is not clear when the present emergency will end and there could be new situations of this kind. We consider here two main possibilities (virtual models and remote observations) for tourism related to geological objects (including those used by humans) and processes. These approaches could help to promote remote-operated tourism in other celestial bodies, helping to promote this kind of enterprise. These activities could be prepared with variable connection to education (for publics with diverse age ranges), prompting their use at any time of the year (hence minimizing the issue of seasonality). Our discussion suggests that remote observations will be the most interesting option since they could potentially give the users an unlimited diversity of experiences, it might give higher returns to local communities (but also higher loads on local environments) and they could find additional value in other geological applications. While our analysis is certainly very speculative at present, it can be submitted to falsification by the financial results.

Along with machinery manufacturing, agriculture and port economy in the Republic of Crimea (RC) there is widely represented the sphere of services, which makes up more than 60 % of the Gross Regional Product and includes developed recreational activities. The Crimean Region (without Sevastopol) according to the number of the objects of placement occupies the second place, and according to the number of the placed tourists occupies the fifth place in the country. Last year Crimea was visited by more than 5,5mln tourists, exceeded the their number in 2015 for 21,6 %, what can be compared with the best indices of the Ukrainian period (2012 and 2013), though the potential of the touristic and recreational sphere (TRS), despite the losses of the recent decades, remains unused. The analysis of the economic state of Crimea has defined the existing problems of the region and under the conditions of realizing the Federal Targeted Program and Special Economic Zone shows that the existing system of the recreational economy and health resort services of Crimea are able to become the point of growth and driving force of the sustainable regional development. The unique opportunities of the progressive and qualitative development of the new subject of the Russian Federation based on the TRS priority made it possible to build the of sustainable development management system of the of the Republic of Crimea, and to work out its own model of the region development management. These models can be represented as the factors of restructurizing and creating administrative, economic and social connections and provide an opportunity to form the subsystem of management of the sustainable development of the Republic of Crimea based on the cluster integration of tourism and new relations of management. The article underlines that the creating cluster must be based on working out the concept of forming and functioning of the tourist and recreational cluster, which must be based on the wellgrounded infrastructure and technological network of creating the final product, and on the organizational community of the participants' interests and opportunities for maneuvering the available resources. Such approach increases the interest of municipalities, population, and region in the cluster integration, activates the mani-festation of the synergetic and cumulative effect, and also leads to forming the effect of multiplier in the region development.

It is hoped that this program will be able to make tourism in Bali recover and the economy will rebound and people are able to return to their normal activities in the midst of the Covid 19 pandemic. This paper employs literature studies and interview to examine the implementation of the program. The descriptive result that emphasizes interviews with tourism actors are supported by data from tourists visiting Bali. The results of this study indicate that We Love Bali program is able to restore the economic condition of the Balinese people to a better condition. And also We Love Bali program is one of the programs implemented to help tourism businesses and the creative economy including hotels, travel businesses, transport businesses, tour guides, restaurants, tourist destinations, MSMEs, and others.

In this paper we suggest a formula to evaluate the recreational possibilities of natural recreational systems (NRS). The formula depends on economic activity, accessibility, climate, relief and landscape attraction of unsettled territories. Unsettled territories are consisted with unpopulated areals with different scales and at the most remote points from any infrastructure, the center of unpopulated areals are situated. The aggregate of these unpopulated areas constitutes a natural recreational system - a natural area slightly modified by human economic activities in which recreation can be still carried out.The formula will allow choosing natural fit territories to develop recreational and tourist activities and create protected natural areas. Evaluation of the Perm region natural recreational system was conducted with the help of this formula. As a result, a map of the Perm region was portrayed on which there are some separate sections of similar NRS qualities. Most part of the region (48%) is at the average level of NRS quality. Only the north-eastern and a few particular sites on hills not affected by economic activities, are up to a high quality level (5%). None of the Perm region reaches the maximum score, due to climate severity and inability to fully use the territory for touristic activities throughout the whole year.

One intends to live these opportunities as soon as they can.Design/methodology/approachFrom the experimental point of view Olive Oil Tourism (Oleotourism) emerges from the olive oil consumer’s interest in learning about the production process, so they can discover a lifestyle associated to this product. This research begins with an exploration of tourists’ motivations. Then, focusing on these consumers, this work has different targets: first, to assess how consumers perceive intangible aspects of olive oil and, second, to forecast the potential demand for oleotourism.FindingsThe development of tourism is the result of tourist entrepreneurs that react to the pre-existing demand/opportunity by identifying it in the tourist market.Research limitations/implicationsThe consumer’s experience is important, but touristic trends are changing. The importance of olive oil may grow in the future because the nutrition benefits are known by all countries. The natural experience around olive oil will drive it to other stakeholders.Practical implicationsIt is very early to recognize if the olive oil tourism industry is economically interesting, and whether innovative offers can be created based in olive oil and the lifestyle in rural areas.Social implicationsThe local development around olive oil tourism could be a potential complement with the principal activities, which are usually agricultural activities, farmer interests and local and historical heritage. AbstractThe Inuvialuit Region of the Canadian western Arctic continues to support a variety of land-based activities as part of the regional mixed economy. Tourism development, one of the newer elements of the mixed economy, has potential to conflict with beluga whale hunting, one of the traditional activities. The paper asks the question: can local employment be created through nature-based tourism development in Inuvik, Aklavik, and Tuktoyaktuk in the Inuvialuit Region in ways that support the local mixed economy and minimize conflict with the traditional sector? Results of interviews with Inuvialuit elders and tour operators indicate that both parties regard tourism as a desirable employment option and a creator of economic benefits, with relatively few economic drawbacks and relatively little environmental concern. The problem, however, is that tourism also brings with it social impacts and cultural drawbacks that are, in the Inuvialuit view, mostly related to (a) intrusiveness of tourists, especially in relation to the beluga hunt; (b) representation of the aboriginal hunt in a negative light; and (c) commodification of culture. On the balance, nature-based tourism development has the capability to support the local mixed economy, subject to resolving the conflict between beluga whaling activities and tourists. Fundamentally, however, the conflict is between Inuvialuit lifestyles and values versus the values and expectations of tourists.

Mini rafting satay gorge as a means of promotion, sports, recreation to attract tourists so that it fosters the economy of the soccer village community. The method of implementing activities is the community development method, which is an approach in community development activities where the community is directed to achieve better social, economic and cultural conditions and the Participatory method of implementation steps, namely Problem posing, problem analysis, problem determination objectives (objectives) and objectives (objectives), actions plans (action planning), the stage (implementation) of the implementation of activities and evaluation (evaluation). The material provided in this training and assistance includes 1) introduction of rafting equipment; 2) basic rafting techniques; 3) rescue rafting; 4) practice of using rafting equipment; 5) the practice of rescue rafting. 25 participants took part in the training and mentoring activities. The results of the training and assistance of mini rafting and rescue rafting showed that as many as 84% of participants understood "mini rafting" and 80% of participants understood "rescue rafting". Activities of structuring the Jurang Sate Tourism Area, PPIP IKIP Mataram Team in partnership with the Youth Organization "Duta Taruna", Pokdasrwis "Kanak Jarin", and Bumdes "Sahara Jaya" in the Village of Soccer, Pringgarata District, Central Lombok. Implementation of the arrangement of this tourist area also involves the people of the Village of Soccer to work together to organize the tourist area and prepare for the opening of a mini rafting vehicle.

Considering the large number of tourists visiting Alor Regency, research is needed to estimate the impact of marine tourism activities on the economy of Alor community. This study aims to analyze the direct, indirect, and continued economic impacts. This study used a multiplier effect analysis to analyze primary and secondary data. Data were collected by structured questionnaires and interview with 50 tourists, 21 entrepreneurs of marine tourism, and 11 workers from business units related to marine tourism. Research location is located in Kalabahi Region, the capital of Alor Regency as a marine tourism center.The analysis showed that the direct economic impact from tourist activities in Kalabahi amounted to IDR.480,000,000 per year and the indirect economic impacts from tourist activities in Kalabahi amountedto IDR 201,600,019 per year, as well as the continued economic impact of marine tourism activities in Kalabahi amounted to IDR 20,250,000 per year. The Keynesian Income Multiplier is 1.72, which means that if there is an increase in tourist spending by 1 IDR, it will have an impact on increasing labor income and business unit owners in tourist sites at about 1.72 IDR. This shows that marine tourism activities in Alor Regency have a positive and significant economic impact on the people of Alor Regency. In the future, it is necessary for Alor government and marine ecotourism entrepreneurs to create tour packages in Alor to increase the length of stay in Alor. It offers a variety of natural tourist attraction including marine tourism which might support the economy of the people of Alor. The number of tourists visiting Alor Regency in 2017 has increased by around 56% from the previous year. Considering the large number of tourists visiting Alor Regency, research is needed to estimate the impact of marine tourism activities on the economy of Alor community. This study aims to analyze the direct, indirect, and continued economic impacts. This study used a multiplier effect analysis to analyze primary and secondary data. Data were collected by structured questionnaires and interview with 50 tourists, 21 entrepreneurs of marine tourism, and 11 workers from business units related to marine tourism. Research location is located in Kalabahi Region, the capital of Alor Regency as a marine tourism center.The analysis showed that the direct economic impact from tourist activities in Kalabahi amounted to IDR.480,000,000 per year and the indirect economic impacts from tourist activities in Kalabahi amountedto IDR 201,600,019 per year, as well as the continued economic impact of marine tourism activities in Kalabahi amounted to IDR 20,250,000 per year. The Keynesian Income Multiplier is 1.72, which means that if there is an increase in tourist spending by 1 IDR, it will have an impact on increasing labor income and business unit owners in tourist sites at about 1.72 IDR. This shows that marine tourism activities in Alor Regency have a positive and significant economic impact on the people of Alor Regency. In the future, it is necessary for Alor government and marine ecotourism entrepreneurs to create tour packages in Alor to increase the length of stay in Alor. Therefore, it will increase the economic impact of marinetourisme on the economy of the local community in Kalabahi, Alor.

It considers the prerequisites for developing a methodology in order to create touristic recreational complexes based on resource capacities of local settlement systems (territorial communities) in Ukraine. Attention is given to the situation in the industry and its prospective capabilities to play a principal role in economic development of a number of territorial communities. It outlines a number of principles that need to be used when considering the process in the urban planning activities. It also provides a specific example of a strategic program of local system development with the touristic and recreational component as its basis. The research materials analyze the current state of affairs of urban planning activities in Ukraine, in particular, peculiarities of regional planning, using three largest cities and their suburbs as case studies. A number of negative trends have been discovered in the relations between the city and suburban area, that need to be resolved during the subsequent stages of designing to take into account the changes in the management system – decentralization and development of territorial communities that will be interacting with the city on systemic positions.

Tourism is a non-negligible source of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. Using South Tyrol (ST) – a small region with a tourism-intensive economy situated in the North of Italy – as a case study, this article discusses a multiregional input–output (MRIO) framework for calculating the direct and indirect emissions embodied in tourist consumption of goods and services at a subnational level. Compared to more standard single-region implementations of the input–output approach, MRIO analysis offers a more accurate depiction of the amount of emissions, that is, embodied in imports, because it acknowledges that in the modern economy supply chains often stretch across multiple borders and that the carbon intensity of production can vary widely from one location to another. Operationalizing the framework has become relatively straightforward since a number of new global MRIO databases have become available in recent years. Furthermore, the analysis could easily be extended to other environmental externalities of tourism, where the model’s capability to explicitly account for spatial spillovers might also be of interest. The modelling exercise at the heart of the article suggests that, over the course of 2010, the process of producing the goods and services consumed by tourists in ST resulted in 1092 kt CO2e of GHGs being emitted into the atmosphere. This is equivalent to average emissions of 191 kg CO2e per overnight visitor, 38 kg CO2e per night or 0.316 kg per euro of tourist expenditure. Direct emissions account for about one-fourth of the total. Almost four-fifths of total emissions appear to be the result of productive activities sited outside ST itself.

The collaboration between the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy, the Ministry of Villages for Disadvantaged Regions, and Transmigration and Higher Education is one of its forms. Higher education institutions are required to carry out community service programs. One of these activities is in the form of human resource development activities involved in the management of tourism villages, namely Pokdarwis (Tourism Awareness Group). One of the human resource developments carried out is the strengthening of CHSE (Clean, Health, Safety, and Environmental Sustainability) materials. CHSE is a new program that is being socialized by the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy to encourage healthy and safe tourism activities in all tourism destinations. Also, with the existence of correct and adequate CHSE and health protocols, it becomes one of the attractions for tourists to visit tourist villages. This activity was attended by 25 participants from Pokdarwis (Tourism Awareness Group), Sungai Awan Kiri Tourism Village, Ketapang, West Kalimantan. This activity aims to improve the competence of human resources for managing the Sungai Awan Kiri Tourism Village which is closely related to CHSE, K3, and the implementation of health protocols that must be implemented in the New Normal era in tourist villages.

The purpose of this paper is to analyze the process of image management of a border touristic destination through the experience of Ciudad Juárez, in order to obtain an improvement in it. The concept of image is analyzed from its components of responsibility and participation in management between Government (message), Society (context), and Universities (management). The methodological approach selected was exploratory. The grounded theory method was selected and thematic analysis with the support of the Atlas-ti software was made. Suggestions are offered for actions which seek to highlight the positive aspects of the city as a touristic destination. The importance of generating responsibility and participation within a social network was highlighted. It was recommended to take advantage of the economic and intellectual resources in education of the Juarez society so that they can know their culture and history.

The growth in the number of tourist arrivals in Spain in recent years has had significant economic repercussions; yet, little has been reported about its negative impact. This study goes some way to rectifying this by estimating the impact of tourist activity on crime rates in the Spanish provinces during the period 2000-2008. We use both 2-SLS and GMM techniques in a panel data framework to overcome the various challenges posed by estimating this relationship, namely, controlling for the unobserved characteristics of the provinces, and accounting for both the possible endogeneity of the tourist variable and the inertia of criminal activities. The results show that tourist arrivals have a positive and significant impact on crimes against both property and the person.

The cultural attributes of architecture in touristic cities are vital to city image building, city branding, and rebranding, as well as generating more economic profits for sustainable urban development, and protecting cultural sustainability. However, many studies on this theme focus on the singularity of architecture referring to its stylistic or morphological definitions, lacking attention to visitors’ cultural experiences in the architectures. Considering the importance of personal experience involved in cultural activities as a process of spatial narration through which architecture makes sense to visitors and generates cultural values, the aim of this paper is to reveal the respective correlations between different types of architecture regarding the cultural experience it imparts and the non-positive dimensions of the city image. This research builds a categorization system of three cultural types of architecture, and designs a questionnaire to collect tourists’ personal opinions concerning architectures and the city image of Amsterdam’s waterfront in order to calculate such correlations statistically. The results associate architectures with ‘tourism-oriented’, ‘present/process-based’, and ‘mass’ cultural types with non-positive dimensions of city image, which leads to further discussions of ‘authenticity’, ‘identity’, and ‘mass culture’, suggesting the significance of urban cultural policies and local communities in terms of city rebranding.

Since the second half of the 2000s, gastronomic tourism has been the most dynamically growing segment of tourism around the world: up to 1/3 of the tourist’s expenses in the destination are expenses for food and beverage. The importance of gastronomy in the context of the experience economy has grown many times: gastronomy has ceased to be only a function of ensuring the tourist’s stay in the destination, along with accommodation and transport – it becomes the core of the tourist experience, a means of penetrating the history and culture of the destination, receiving the brightest and deepest emotions. Against the background of increasing globalization and ever-greater “seen” by the average tourist, there is a burning out of interest in traditional tourist activities; for example, sightseeing is no longer enough, and tourists require full immersion in the culture of the host country/region, and even more – they want to live a small life like a local, and gastronomic experiences that extend beyond the simple consumption of food are able to meet this exacting demand. The increasing tourist flows and the volume growth of public catering indicate the demand for the gastronomic component of tourism, which, in turn, can be one of the main ways to form impressions.

The article tells us about the state and tourists associations as the tourist business representative interaction; it reveals the fundamental tasks and basis for tourist associations creating. The article contents the analysis of the tourism management in Kabardino-Balkar Republic, shows the successful interaction subjects examples, mentions the main tourism industry problems in republic, as well as tells us about this region tourist market association inquiry. It reflects the expert evaluation results, connected with the service supplier and customer interaction and cooperation. Also in the article is determined the state-private partnership role in the tourism as an opportunity of the joint developing of the legal regulation in tourism industry, on contributing to its sustainable development. This fact is important due to high social tourism status, on creating the new working places and stimulating the economic growth. In many places of the world, the interruption of touristic activities in the aftermath of a catastrophic earthquake is often neglected in the evaluation of seismic risks; however, these activities can account for a significant proportion of short-term and long-term economic impacts for these regions. In the last decade, several rapid visual screening techniques have been developed to define the typology of buildings and to estimate their seismic vulnerability and potential for damage. We adapted the existing screening procedures that have been developed for generic buildings to specific circumstances that are most common for tourist accommodations. The proposed approach considered six criteria related to structural and nonstructural elements of buildings, as well as local soil conditions. A score was assigned to each criterion as a function of the capacity of the elements to resist ground shaking. A vulnerability index in four levels of building vulnerability was developed combining the scores of the six criteria. The approach was tested in a pilot area of Montreal to a set of 70 typical buildings grouped in four categories based on their accommodation capacity. In Montreal, tourism is an important source of income for the city where 351,000 room-nights were booked with total stay expenditures of CAD 4.9 billion in 2019. The results indicated potential significant disruptions in activities related to tourism; 46% of the buildings investigated have a high to very high vulnerability index. Among them, 4/5 are located in the old city and 1/5 in the downtown area of the pilot zone.

Climate change leads to a variety of extreme weather conditions such as heat waves, unusual cold weather, and heavy rain, which always ends up with serious disasters. It could have a tremendous impact on a lot of industries in the world. The tourist industry, that plays a vital role in the global economy, has faced serious impacts from climate change in many tourist attractions, e.g., national parks, mountain areas, and beaches. The travel behavior of visitors has been changed under various climate change conditions. To understand the influence degrees of tourists on climate change factors, this study aimed to analyze whether there is difference in the influence of climate change on socio-demographic background, travel activities, travel intention, and the revisit intention attitude of tourists with different degrees of place attachment to Wuling National Forest Recreation Area. This study further investigated whether the climate change adaptation strategies offered by the park manager would have a positive influence on travel intention of tourists. The results of this study showed that except for heat waves, events related to climate change such as stronger typhoon, heavy rain, unusual cold weather condition, mud sliding, forest fire, and the appearance of mosquitos would have a negative influence on travel intention, especially for the tourists with a low degree of place attachment. In addition, if the park manager offers strategies to adapt to climate change conditions, these strategies would have a positive influence on travel intention.

The result and the discussion in a quadrant I namely foreign exchange earnings having a high priority because if there are guests foreign tourists and experienced a lack of financial in rupiah, so foreign tourists can use the currencies of his country in cash and bank which is to use. In a quadrat II to, government revenues employment generation, and development of local economies in dimension which means the means the means to uphold are very important. In a quadrant III, no in other words no effect on economic growth. On quadrant IV infrastructure development in a quadrant is considered less important because tourists be preoccupied with activities in the village and the tourist will use smartphone, before going to sleep but to signal and electricity are adequate. The conclusions researchers is tourist village very helpful for the economy residents and can grow economy. As a suggestion the government can cooperate with Batulayang village and private sector to create artificial attraction in Batulayang village to build marketing in the village and increase a vacancy for local residents.

Though the State’s economy is largely depended on agriculture and horticulture, tourism is still considered as the backbone of the economy as it generates large scale employment opportunities. The industry has generated large number of jobs; particularly it has benefitted the younger generation. Boosting the economic activities in the primary, secondary and tertiary sectors in the state, tourism has continued to play a vital role in the economy of the state. The Valley of Kashmir witnesses a huge rush of tourists especially during peak seasons and every corner of Srinagar city is filled with high movement of tourists. The movement of tourists has largely been restricted to Golden Triangle of Kashmir i.e. Srinagar, Phalgam and Gulmarg. The Government has started earmarking other virgin destinations of Kashmir and established authorities for the development of the same, but on the ground level the scene is quite different. It is imperative to assess the carrying capacity of tourist attractions especially new and emerging destinations, in order to minimize the negative impacts of tourism. Keeping in view these considerations, the present work is an attempt to highlight the tourism potential of unexplored areas in Ganderbal District, which have immense potential for ecotourism development.

This study aims to analyze the distribution of income from tourism activities in Bali and to identify opportunities for more equitable utilization. The survey results show that: (1) the economic impacts of tourism activities on the Balinese economy can be seen from 3 aspects: sectoral output increase, employment output, and wage/salary output, which significantly affects the performance of particular sectors. The air transport sector in Bali is becoming the sector with the biggest increase in output and the increase in revenue due to the spending of foreign tourists. Meanwhile, the trade sector enjoys the highest employment absorption. (2) There is a gap between districts/cities in the Bali region which is shown by the amount of tourism share in business turnover in Badung regency compared to other regions. (3) There is still a chance of even distribution of tourism in Bali. Efforts to build tourist destinations in the peripheral region can be one option for efforts to state tourism activities in Bali.

The specificity of the tourist market and the connection of modern tourist products with numerous economic and non-economic activities cause the multiplicity of socio-economic effects of tourism. The development of tourism creates opportunities for a number of other activities, which means that tourism is a significant factor in boosting the overall economic development. Tourism plays a particularly important role in the overall socio-economic development of underdeveloped countries and regions. Tourism can contribute to positive socio-economic development, but at the same time, inadequate and uncontrolled management of a tourist destination can have negative socio-cultural, but also economic consequences. The paper investigates the basic socio-cultural and economic aspects and impacts of tourism. The authors pay special attention to the analysis of the multiplying effects of tourism on the development of a particular destination. Starting from the history of travel and tourism as an activity, key motives and socio-economic effects, the 2008 World Economic Crisis, its origin, causes, and consequences of its impact on the entire world economy, especially tourism, the authors analyzed the current economic indicators of tourism activity in the world economy and projections of expected trends. In this paper, the focus of the analysis is on the tourist travel and economic and socio-cultural impact of tourism on the tourist destination, the individual, and the society as a whole.

The traditional Balinese house, manifested and translated in an agricultural context, has roles to accommodate domestic and socio-cultural activities. Once the house accommodates tourist activities as an additional function, many parts of the house are transformed. The transformation presents a conflict between economic gain and the preservation of Balinese traditions in the house. In order to illustrate this paradoxical phenomenon, this paper first shows how the traditional house has been reconfigured as a response to address the specific challenges of the tourist economy. Then, using architectural examination and interviews, the paper shows that the infiltration of the tourist activities has blurred the house’s configuration so that the transformed house is no longer able to express its original characteristics, hierarchy values and symbolic meaning.

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to explore the attitudes of tourists toward digital marketing applications related to peer-to-peer short-term rental services within the sharing economy in the tourism sector. It aims to identify the factors that make Greek tourists to use these applications and to classify them into groups according to their attitudes toward these websites and to profile each group of tourists according to their personal and demographic characteristics and their preferences regarding their holidays/travel. Design/methodology/approach A primary survey was conducted in April 2018 for a random selected sample of Greek tourists. Principal component analysis was conducted to identify the main factors that affect tourists in using digital marketing application related to peer-to-peer short-term rental services within the sharing economy in the tourism sector. Cluster analysis was performed to classify tourists into groups according to their attitudes toward the use of these websites while discriminant analysis was conducted to check cluster predictability. Non-parametric tests, including the chi-square test, were performed to profile each strategic group according to their demographic characteristics and their preferences regarding their holidays/travel. Findings The study classified tourists into three groups, i.e. pioneers, convenience seekers and conscious, according to their attitudes toward the use of such applications. Research limitations/implications The choice for the Greek context of the research is justified by the fact that Greece has suffered from recession in the last decade, but it is also a tourism-friendly country. The empirical results of this pioneer study should trigger further investigation. Although tourists’ behavior towards the adoption of digital marketing application related to peer-to-peer rental services within the sharing economy in the tourism sector might be culturally specific and the results are mainly applicable in the Greek market, they could be generalized in other countries with similar characteristics in both Greece and other parts with similar characteristics. Practical implications Tourists are extremely important both for developers and policy makers in tourism industry. For developers such information is important because the expectation of viable markets will motivate investments. For policy makers, this type of information will help them to respond more adequately through regulation tools and programs. From a practical perspective, the tourism operators may benefit from focusing on their differentiating features and aligning their marketing communication with their tourists’ aspirations by developing, optimizing and customizing their websites according to the needs of the customers and the extension of touristic activities to other sectors of tourism industry. Social implications Visitors who choose Airbnb accommodations spend more days travelling; consequently, the market size of the tourism industry expands from the increase in the number of visitors. Originality/value The originality of the paper derives from the understanding of the tourists’ behavior toward the adoption of digital marketing applications related to peer-to-peer rental services within the sharing economy in the tourism sector. More specifically, it identifies the factors that make Greek tourists to use those applications, classifies them into groups according to their attitudes towards those websites and profiles each group of tourists according to their personal and demographic characteristics and their preferences regarding their holidays/travel.

In the article the author analyzed the basic problems of Crimean tourist service in 1960s-1980s. For this period the maximal numbers of visiting Crimea by domestic and foreign tourists were achieved, a lot of them negatively estimated the quality of local service. On the basis of wide complex of the archived and published historical sources the author proves that the permanent problems of the tourist service were conditioned above all by the institutional model of organization of the soviet industry of hospitality, which was characterized by excessive centralization, monopolization, administrative-command methods of decision-making, low staff motivation. Thus all this complex of problems showed up both during servicing of soviet tourists (Crimean Regional Council for Tourism and Excursions) and unorganized holidaymakers (so-called «wild tourists»), as well as serving foreign tourists (the enterprise system «Intourist» in the Crimea). The considerable negative influence was related to the fact that development of sphere of services (including tourism) was not a priority direction for authorities of the USSR. The centralized allocation of funds and material resources for the hospitality industry often carried out as a residual. However, since the second half of the 1970s the particular activities directed at «conservative modernization» of the Soviet tourist service were carried out. These activities were directed at increasing economic independence of enterprises of industry of hospitality, activation of supplying of additional services to the tourists, growing of material motivation of service workers. But until the late 1980s these transformations were implemented very slowly and conservatively, without affecting the fundamental bases of the soviet planned economy and administrative-command management. Despite the fact that at the present stage market and competitive model of organization of the service is established, the Soviet past continues to indirectly affect the quality of the Crimean tourist product, but the significance of this influence is waning.

Weather and climate affect all living organisms that inhabit our planet. At the same time, weather and climate influence a person as a biological being (on his or her well-being), as well as on most branches of his or her economic activity. The tourism sector (and especially some types of tourism) is among the most dependent on the weather and climate among human activities. The customer loyalty plays a vital role within the tourism and hospitality industry. It is very important to make sure the customers are satisfied and remain as loyal as possible, because the loyal customers work as a good promotion tool as they spread the WoM (word of mouth) within their friends, family, relatives and others. On the contrary, not being satisfied to the service or product may translate into a negative feedback, which can lead to a bad image for the business of a certain destination. The main purpose of this study is to identify the variables that are significant to explain loyalty to Algarve, as a touristic destination in terms of the climatic factors. Here, in this study, one tries to study the relation between meteorological factors and level of loyalty of tourists. The definition of climate requires a long-term duration (almost a year). Given the fact that most of the visiting tourist are not staying in any destination that long, in this study, the chosen sample group were international tourist to Algarve, Portugal. In relation to process of data gathering for this study, a number of 70 international tourist aged between 30-40 years old were interviewed and asked several questions relating to the Mediterranean climate and its impacts on their loyalty over a particular destination (In this case, Algarve). According to the research, it is found that the key factors that prove the loyalty of international tourists to the Algarve are comfortable temperature, sunny days and humidity. Tambakrejo Beach is located in Tambakrejo Village, Wonotirto district, South of Blitar City. Communities around the Tambakrejo Beach initially work as fishermen, traders, farmers, and to meet the daily needs in getting from fishing. However today many people are turning their professions into traders. The tourism development of Tambakrejo beach resulted in changes of community activities.
The method used to collect the data in this study are observation, interview, questionnaires, and literature study and the methods used to analyze the data is comparative descriptive analysis method.
The results of this study related to the tourism development that tourists visits increases every year. The interaction of tourists with the community is also high, the number of tourist facilities increased, the attractions are two activities such as boating and riding ATV and watching Islamic local culture Larung Sesaji in the beach, and promotion is done with social media and cooperation between magazine and television to review Tambakrejo in their program . The results of the tourism development toward communities economy is community income increased and employment opportunities associated with the movement of livelihoods as a trader.
