Abstract:
This thesis explores some of the issues involved in movement praxis in actor training, contextualising itself within the QUT Academy of the Arts in Brisbane and arts research in Australian Universities. To elucidate these issues the researcher applies the epistemology of Humberto Maturana's constitutive ontology (the philosophical underpinnings of the biology of cognition) in multiple sites of performance theory and practice, with particular reference to the movement learning of actors. This thesis examines the multijurisdictional National Heavy Vehicle Regulator to understand the contemporary governance of Australia as a federation. Through the application of enhanced governance models and creation of a diagnostic tool Australian Pragmatic Federalism Theory is advanced to describe, explain and potentially predict intergovernmental structures and processes in the Australian Federation. Using Actor-network Theory to reveal the (re)deployment of power amongst actors and incorporating Multi-level Governance theory into extant models revealed that while centralisation is occurrin

Thesis (LLM )--Stellenbosch University, 2011.<br>ENGLISH ABSTRACT: In the field of administrative law, the judiciary has traditionally exercised control over the administrative actions of the executive through judicial review. However, judicial review is neither the most effective nor the most efficient primary control mechanism for systemic administrative improvement. In a country faced with a task of =transformative constitutionalism‘, and hindered with scarce resources, there is good cause to limit judicial intervention as the first response to administrative disputes. Stratton, Gregory J. "Whose story is it anyway?: An explanation of how `academic literacy' was constructed in a university transition course for Indigenous Australians during a period of organisational change." Thesis, Edith Cowan University, Research Online, Perth, Western Australia, 2006. https://ro.ecu.edu.au/theses/99.

Abstract:
This thesis examines how a group of lecturers who taught in a university preparation course designed for Indigenous Australians thought about what `academic literacy' meant. Lecturers were asked to consider the relationships between the meanings of `academic literacy' , curriculum, and the considerable problems the Course was facing in order to remain viable. My research goal was to better understand what alignment of people, ideas, and other important entities would be required to develop a sustainable program for Indigenous people seeking an alternative pathway into university degrees.

I investigated the past, present and possible futures of Australia’s ocean pools, over a hundred public seawater pools sited on rocky surfcoasts, so that waves wash over their walls. My interdisciplinary analysis informed by actor-‐network theory explored their contributions to surf, beach, pool and body cultures and recreational coasts. Ocean pools have since the nineteenth century been far more significant in the surf, beach, pool and body cultures of Australia and South Africa, than in those of Britain and the United States. Most of Australia’s ocean pools lie within state of New South Wal

Abstract:
Using critical realism as a philosophy and methodology, this thesis seeks to identify underlying social structures, powers and mechanisms that could contribute to the persistence of inequality in the average life expectancy at birth between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and the non-Indigenous population of Australia in the 21st century. In 2018 Australians were among the world’s longest-lived populations. However, the gap in life expectancy at birth between Indigenous and non-Indigenous Australians is ten years (Australian Institute of Health and Welfare, 2018b, p. 29). Social

Abstract:
The debate about whether to label the mass killing of Ottoman-Armenians in the early twentieth century as “genocide” has emerged in geographically distant Australian parliamentary discussions and decisions. The struggle to use and refuse such terms is deeply felt by the Australian-Armenian and Australian-Turkish ethnic-migrant communities, for each of which the reframing is a question of cultural identity and a source of tension. This thesis explores how and why contentious international debates on the histories affecting the Armenians and Turks make their way into Australian State Parliaments
