Employees face many demands throughout the workday. Participating in activities can help employees recover from the pressures of work, and physical activity and time spent in nature are among the most beneficial. Simulations of nature offer some of the benefits of actual contact with nature and can address some of the barriers to exercising outdoors that some employees may face. In this pilot study, we examine the influence of physical activity and virtual or actual nature contact on affect, boredom, and satisfaction when experienced during a break from a demanding work task. Based on the finite element method of explicit dynamics and contact dynamics mechanics, a three dimensional solid finite element model was developed introducing physical elements for tapered roller bearing. The dynamic process numerical simulation of tapered roller bearing was carried out in ABAQUS. The vibration curves of the nodes on roller were drew. The changes of contact stress and contact stress distribution of rings, rollers and the cage in the process were analyzed. The results show it is basically consistent with the actual movement of rolling bearings.

The analytical methods usually apply the theory of Blok to efficiently obtain the results by simplifying some actual physical conditions, which are well considered in the FEA methods with accurate results but more computation time. Abstract As oil fields mature, operating costs associated with internal corrosion of oil transport pipelines are increasing. Beside aging infrastructure, this trend is caused by decreasing oil production and increasing co-production of water. Even if water is heavier than oil, it can be entrained in the oil phase if the flow of oil is sufficient for the turbulent forces to overcome the density difference. Determining the minimum velocity for which this is possible (the entrainment velocity) is an important factor for establishing good corrosion management strategies. To determine this velocity

Abstract:
We are presenting a multi-field and multiscale theory leading to derivations of physical properties from surface topography and bulk material properties for the interface between two rough surfaces in contact activated by mechanical load and high current pulses. At the macro-scale our proposed model involves multi-field coupling of conduction and induction currents with heat conduction induced by Joule heating. The structural mechanics of the conducting materials are also considered. At the meso-scale and micro-scale the associated model contains an asperity based comprehensive model that lead

Abstract:
Soilless crop production in protected cultivation requires optimization of many environmental and plant variables. Variables of the root zone (rhizosphere) have always been difficult to characterize but have been studied extensively. In soilless production the opportunity exists to optimize these variables in relation to crop production. The project objectives were to model the relationship between biomass production and the rhizosphere variables: temperature, dissolved oxygen concentration and water availability by characterizing potential growth and how this translates to actual growth. Team from Czech Technical University in Prague participated in prestigious international contest Solar Decathlon Europe 21-22. The topic of its FIRSTLIFE project was an extension of student dormitory by adding of new floors on the building together with a retrofit of the existing part. The paper deals with the pedagogical context of this activity. Students got an extraordinary opportunity to actually implement their theoretical proposals based on calculations. They also received feedback on the extent to which detailed designs are feasible in normal construction practice. New knowledge can be

Based on research in linguistics and psychology I use language speech as a reflection of acculturation. I use individual and city-level data from the Lake Ontario area in Canada and study the determinants of cultural assimilation. I focus on education, age, income, and in particular, on some variables typically discussed when globalization issues come up, such as immigration, television viewing, borders, and residence history of the individuals. I find that actual contact does matter as a determinant of cultural homogenization. Virtual contact appears to be irrelevant. This finding is robust t

Abstract:
The Philippine government historically underinvested in transport infrastructure, but this began to change a few decades ago when the country's financial position became relatively more favorable. The immense need to fast-track transport infrastructure investments is driven mainly by two pressure points: (1) the accumulated gap in transport infrastructure due to years of neglect and (2) the country's sustained economic growth, which has further increased the demand for public infrastructure. This study provides a characterization and analysis of the government’s strategy to intensify its spend

The University of Washington Applied Physics Lab team collected these data using microSWIFT wave buoys at the USACE Field Research Facility as part of the USCRP funded project DUNEX (During Nearshore Events Experiment). The files contain both directly measured and computed quantities from the drifting wave buoys. The collection and processing of these data is explained in the github repository at https://github.com/SASlabgroup/DUNEXMainExp along with examples of how these data can be used. Community-Responsive Education Policies and the Question of Optimality: Decentralisation and District-Level Variation in Policy Adoption and Implementation in Indonesia. Abstract:
Decentralisation, or devolving authority to the third tier of government to prioritise specific policy reforms and manage their implementation, is argued to lead to pro-poor development for a number of reasons: local bureaucrats can better gauge the local needs, be responsive to community demands, and, due to physical proximity, can be more easily held accountable by community members. In the education sector, devolving authority to district government has thus been seen as critical to introducing reforms aimed at increasing access and improving learning outcomes. More than one million “orphan” patients do not have a family physician in Quebec as revealed by the department of Health and Social Services scoreboard. This spring, Minister Dubé has launched several initiatives aimed at transforming the health system to facilitate access to high-quality and timely primary care services. These reforms focus primarily on the enrolment of patients with a family physician. Having access to a regular source of care is almost universally seen as a good thing. In this short note, Erin C. Abstract:
Herein, we explored a robot’s ability to localize and map, both in simulation and on a physical robot, within a mock sewer system. Mapping and localization techniques were first developed and tested in simulation and were then transitioned to the actual robot for additional physical testing. Several odometry and simultaneous localization and mapping (SLAM) techniques, including gmapping, SLAM toolbox, elevation mapping, and RTABMap, were evaluated for this particular environment. The results of the odometry and the various SLAM approaches are discussed in detail.

Abstract:
The COVID-19 pandemic took place against the backdrop of growing political polarization and distrust in political institutions in many countries. Did deficiencies in government performance further erode trust in public institutions? Did citizens’ ideology interfere with the way they processed information on government performance? To investigate these two questions, we conducted a pre-registered online experiment in Spain in November 2020. Respondents in the treatment group were provided information on the number of contact tracers in their region, a key policy variable under the control of re
