Abstract:
The Aerosol Deposition (AD, also known as gas kinetic spraying or vacuum deposition) method is a rather novel coating process to produce dense thick films directly from dry ceramic (or metal) powders on a variety of substrates without any heat treatment. Because of the similarity of the up to now used powders and lunar regolith, it is imaginable to use AD systems for future in situ resource utilization missions on the Moon planned by several space agencies. To test the feasibility of such an endeavor, the processability of lunar mare simulant EAC-1 by the AD method has been examined in this st

The reproducibility of computational results has been central topic of discussion as different scientific communities have different meanings for the same term. For a scientist, reproducibility ultimately means enabling confirmable research. We can achieve confirmable research by integrating artifact descriptors (AD) and artifact evaluators (AE) in our papers, documenting every aspect of our artifact's workflows. Agencies are investing in confirmable research; an example is a recent "Dear Colleagues Letter" that reinforces the need for reproducibility in open science.

The emergence of commercial television advertising impacted women working as copywriters and artists in the creative departments of London ad agencies. Looking at the period 1955 to 1968, this paper discusses whether the observed fall in the proportion of women in creative departments was on par with a broader national “problem” of fewer and fewer women in professional occupations, or whether women in this sector were particularly hard hit. The research concludes that women copywriters and artists did not benefit from the advent of commercial television advertising. Their careers were limited

Alzheimer's disease (AD) is one of the most widely known of the organic mental disorders described as dementias. It is apparent, in both the USA and the UK, that AD imposes a large economic burden in terms of both formal and informal costs. In the UK, one estimate is that annual costs are about £1,039 million at 1990/91 prices and another, even higher, at £4,684 million. There is an extremely heavy burden on informal caregivers, and on agencies providing social services and residential accommodation. After the onset of AD, the progress of the illness results in declining levels of functioning a

In today's digital market, the number of websites available for advertising has ballooned into the millions. Consequently, firms often turn to ad agencies and demand-side platforms (DSPs) to decide how to allocate their Internet display advertising budgets. Nevertheless, most extant DSP algorithms are rule-based and strictly proprietary. This article is among the first efforts in marketing to develop a nonproprietary algorithm for optimal budget allocation of Internet display ads within the context of programmatic advertising. Unlike many DSP algorithms that treat each ad impression independen
