Abstract:
Abstract Government effort to develop marine potency in Indonesia constitutes as a breaktrough program that has been waiting for decade. Considering broad of sea region about 70% from total of Indonesian region, it is reasonable that the future of Indonesia economy is in the sea. One of potencial sector that can be developed is sea transportation sector as sea vehicle (ship). A number of national commerce ships was developed significantly more than 100% from about 6,000 units in 2006 to about 12,500 units in 2013. In the future, this may increase faster because of Government policy to strengthen the development of marine economy, to develop marine axis and to develop sea toll. These programes have to be supported by developing shipping industries, in which they can build new ships and for maintenance. To speed up the increase of roll of shipping industries, the cluster of shipping industry may be needed to be developed in some regions. This cluster consists of several related industries that are core industries, supporting industries and related industries. The development of ship industry clusters have to consider potency of region, region development program, value chain industries, and human resources. Government has to give special policies such as fiscal policy and incentive to develop priority industries and ship industry cluster.

Abstract:

Abstract:
Kecelakaan KMP.

<p>ABSTRACT<br />Has become a common understanding that fishing is a risky job, so the safety aspects on board is an important factor that must be considered. Fishing vessels should also be supported with design and good stability, so that fishing activities can run smoothly and avoid the danger of accidents. Pole and liner in Bitung is quite varied and the ships were built in traditional dockyard and not based on the calculation and construction planning and design. One of the instruments on fishing vessel operational safety assurance is the implementation of the regulation, both nationally and internationally. At the international level, many regulations governing the safety of the ship in respect of fish. While national regulations relating to the safety of fishing vessels has not been consistent and in harmony, hence the assessment regulations relating to fishing vessel safety improvement needs to be done to determine the extent of the responsibility of government and the extent of the application of the existing rules. The general objective of this study was to determine the safety aspects of pole and line vessels, while the specific goal are: (1) review and analyze to get the quality stability of the ship (2) identify and assess safety-related regulatory review pole and line vessels in Bitung. The results showed that the quality of the stability of the vessel pole and line in the four conditions of the charge distribution in a state of good stability. It is represented by the value of all the parameters that are above the standard value IMO. In the simulated load conditions, the maximum GZ value at the time the vessel is in operation, while the GZ smallest value in an empty load case ship condition. There are seven international policy and five national policies relevant to the safety of fishing vessels. International policies clearly have established the safety of the ship and crew of fishing vessels, but implementation at the national level is still lacking and not aligned.</p><p><br />Keywords: pole and liner, quality stability, regulation</p><p>-------</p><p><br />ABSTRAK</p><p>Telah menjadi pemahaman umum bahwa kegiatan penangkapan ikan merupakan suatu pekerjaan beresiko, sehingga aspek keselamatan diatas kapal merupakan faktor terpenting yang harus diperhatikan. A novel which takes emperor as a leading role is usually be sorted into two groups, an interesting episode or a legend and a novel emphasizing indulging in sensual pleasure. However, “Sui Yang-ti Yen-Shih” can not be classified into any kind of type above in previous research. Some researchers take “Sui Yang-ti Yen-Shih” as a historical story, but some think that the depiction in sentiment and life is not allowed to neglect. This research is based on former discussion, and attempts to present unique meaning of novel. Starting from rewriting historical documents and short stories, we observe that how the character of novel is added into historical materials, and how the author attracts readers in popularization process. The second section of our research starts from the title “yen,” and in the view of “rewrite,” we discuss how the glamorous and odd characters in “Sui Yang-ti Yen-Shih” is emphasized and presented. We analyze how “Sui Yang-ti Yen-Shih” touches sentimental factors, and how it builds the image of emperor, Sui Yang-ti, in the third section of this paper. The fourth section is to investigate the relationship between history and novel, and compare “Sui Yang-ti Yen-Shih” with other historical novels about Sui Yang-ti.

One of the primary concerns of architectural designers is how to attract the attention of citizens emotionally through shop fa&;ccedil;ades. The Kansei Engineering can be adopted to explore how to quantitatively measure image evaluation. Thus, this approach was used to investigate the Kansei image evaluation differences and the relationship between design features. The latter has complex nature based on differences in architectural professionals’ and non-architectural professionals’ appreciation of substantial likeness factors. A semantic differential scale (SD) questionnaire was created to survey impressions of single-building restaurants in Taichung city. The statistical tests show: 1. The broken-line graphs indicate that the leaning scale for average of the contemporary type displayed significant differences. 2. Factor analysis extracted three factors, named ‘Morphological-Style’, ‘Sentimental Value’ and ‘Fashionable-Aesthetics’ can meet Osgood’s semantic space to be covered with ‘activity, evaluative, and potency’. Based on the three axes factors, factor scores, as an evaluation space coordinate values, indicated in the Kansei space, coordinated of each relative position, could significantly distinguish the difference in three different styles of restaurants. 3.Regression equation between design categories and Kansei words was statistically concluded using Hayashi’s Quantitative Theory TypeΙ. Quantitative Theory Type I analysis explains how the items and categories of characteristics affect image and preference. X5 Texture obtained the highest partial correlation coefficient for A12 Rural-Urban image. Regarding the category point analysis for A12, X6C Green, X5F Decorative panel, X1C Commixture Eclecticism-caused a positive influence on urban, and it means they could strange urban feeling. 4. Three main factors, activity, evaluation, potency were extracted by factor analysis both for architectural professionals and non-architectural professionals. Non-architectural background evaluative intensity weakly, and do not agree with in potency feeling. 5. Cluster analysis determined that all fifteen examples were divided into the two groups according to aesthetics principle. Finally cognitions in restaurants extended to 4 groups through cluster analysis by non-architectural professionals, and when which is compared with that of architectural professionals, separated into 5 groups; the discrimination was because of critical discernment of style, shape, pattern, color and aesthetics.

Abstract:
The AAA+ATPase p97 is an essential protein involved in numerous cellular pro-cesses and plays a key role in multiple aspects of protein homeostasis. Its functio-nal diversity is mediated through the interaction with a large number of distinctcofactors binding to the N-domain of p97. Due to its significant role in regulatinga variety of physiological responses, p97 has emerged as a potential therapeu-tic target.
The traditional 6-hole bamboo dizi has always experienced some problems that cannot be thoroughly solved in solo as well as instrumental ensemble playing, including those in intonation, range, and modulation. To adapt to the rich and variable composing styles and ever-changing methods, instrument players have attempted many methods to interpret musical composition, hoping to break those playing obstacles and expecting to approach requirements of composers. In this way, recent decades have witnessed many ways of improving dizi. This paper, reviewing the status quo of dizi improvement, focuses on the development and impact of halftone dizi on dizi music, and explores the induced pros and cons as well as more possibilities. It, in addition to collecting the improvement history of the traditional 6-hole dizi in recent 70 years, and emphasizes the solo playing of musical instruments, and then with two solos as an example, discusses the actual playing of the improved halftone dizi. To be different from the playing of modern style music with the traditional 6-hole dizi, or improved dizi such as hole-added dizi or multi-hole dizi, the “Butterfly Dreams” and “Ah-Shi-Ma Ballad” referred to in this paper are played with halftone Dizi of Chen in D to interpret the abundant tone changes and special grace playing skills. In trying to retain the unique features of the traditional dizi such as tone, playing skills and grace tones, it has found the breakthroughs in the playing interpretation of improved musical instruments and playing of modern music. It does not only include the basic analysis of musical composition structures but also offer some playing methods and interpretation viewpoints on halftone Dizi of Chen.

Abstract:
Fashion customers often regard shopping online for clothing as being more of a convenience-based event rather than an experience-bearing touch point, lacking both relational and sensory attributes (Cai, Shen, & Guo, 2012). In a clear attempt to add further dimensions to online retailing, virtual reality (VR) clearly emerged at CES 2015 (Consumer Electronic Show) as a promising solution to watch (Housley, 2015). Within the context outlined above, this chapter set out to explore whether and how online retailers within the fashion industry could bridge the gap between the offline and online customer experience through the use of virtual reality solutions. More specifically, the objectives of this chapter are to: (1) explore the potential impact and possible applications of VR within the fashion retailing industry, (2) identify and critically analyse consumers' and fashion retailers' attitudes towards VR, (3) assess contributing factors and barriers to investment in VR solutions by fashion retailers.

This chapter discusses Mary Lou Williams’s work to establish the Bel Canto Foundation in the late 1950s and 1960s, primarily through her Bel Canto Thrift Shop. Williams worked tirelessly to manage her shop, to account for her finances, and to aspire to realize a support system for musicians in need. She strove to forge a new sense of community between jazz artists and the broader society. Previous analyses of the foundation effort and management of the thrift shop have not included the musicians who were recipients of Williams’s charity. Ever the meticulous recordkeeper, Williams extensively documented her foundation efforts. Her business papers add to the Bel Canto story a record of several musicians who experienced Williams’s charity, regardless of the foundation’s ultimate fate. Confident in her ability to manage a substantial project like this foundation because she had secured revenue for herself through the ongoing retrieval and management of her composition copyrights, Williams strove to become more than a regular parishioner in her new Catholic community. Williams’s daily labor comes to light as the outworking of her conception of a divine call—during the period that she and her Catholic friends contested the specific nature of this call.

Abstract:
The epilogue considers the depths of a Haitian literary eco-archive by putting it into contact with the historical archive. It brings together Dalembert’s fictional representation of Haiti as a place of asylum for Jewish refugees during World War Two in his novel, Avant que les ombres s’effacent, and Ada Ferrer’s historical excavation, in her study Freedom’s Mirror, of the Haitian government’s application of the constitutional principle of “free soil” to detain slave ships and grant freedom to the enslaved during the early 19th century. In this way, both the novelist and the historian revive stories of Haitian lands and seas as sites of refuge; they reclaim its soil as a place of freedom and justice that transformed the lives of the enslaved and persecuted migrants. The conclusion of the book argues that Dalembert and Ferrer offer archival views of Haiti that historicize the apparently unprecedented movement of migrants and refugees in the present.

Abstract:
This chapter builds on the evidence of thing sites as elite foci in the landscape. Previous chapters have shown that the elite strived for the ‘right’ site architecture and competed with rivals through the design of their thing sites. The assembly features were not only symbolic, but also played important roles in the various assembly site rituals. The majority of these rituals seem to have been elite-driven and modifications to the sites can therefore be seen as reflections of societal change, for example in terms of ruler ship and religion. In this chapter, the identified assembly site features will be investigated in terms of their meaning and function in elite rituals carried out at these sites. The differing roles and experiences of the thing participants and the attendees add to the multi-layered nature of the assembly gatherings The assembly rituals can be defined as ‘commemorative’, which entail performances, that is evocation and declarations of key components of ritual narratives, but also bodily movements, such as gestures, postures and motion. In addition, dramatic spectacle tends to be employed to strengthen memory creation.

Abstract:
The Redundant Independent Mechanical Start System (RIMSS) is a gas turbine powered, mechanically coupled start system for the Allison AG9140 Ship Service Gas Turbine Generator Sets (SSGTGs) of the U.S. Navy’s DDG-51 Class ships. The system will be original equipment on DDG-86 and follow. It will also be a candidate for backfit onto earlier DDG-51 Class ships. This paper describes RIMSS and details a very successful phase of the RIMSS program. All U.S. Navy testing was conducted on an Allison AG9140 located at the Carderock Division, Naval Surface Warfare Center-Ship Systems Engineering Station, DDG-51 Gas Turbine Ship Land Based Engineering Site (NSWCCD-SSES LBES), Figure 1. The test agenda included 516 SSGTG starts and 75 SSGTG motoring cycles. The primary goal was to validate engine life predictions for the Allison 250-C20B gas turbine engine in the RIMSS application. A secondary goal was to evaluate the overall RIMSS system during an extended period of operation.

Abstract:
Abstract This paper proposes a maritime Accident Dynamic Simulator (MADS) method from one ship’s perspective of ship collision accident. The MADS model is built based on discrete dynamic event trees (D-DET) to generate the time-dependent ship collision accident scenarios. According to the characteristics of maritime activities, such as high freedom of participation, the big influence of the environment, and the high uncertainty, the MADS method is modified, and the analyzed ship collision scenario is reasonably simplified. Both crews’ decision-making process and ship manoeuvre are fully discretized to generate new branches of the D-DET. The interactions between encountered ships are modelled with an information transfer model to form the uncertainties between two ships. The MADS consists of physical simulation engine, crew response and interaction model, reliability model of the system hardware, functional model of human-system interfaces and event sequence controlling model. The MADS starts with a pre-set initiating event under a specific situation. Event branches are discretely generated based on probable alternative state changes of operator response or system evolution. The output probability of an end state can be calculated in the same way with the conventional event tree after the whole scenario completed. At the end of the paper, an accident case study is used to verify the efficiency of the ADS.

Abstract:
Oil discharges from a ship’s propeller shaft system are an issue for commercial ship owners. A 2010 study by a New York Consulting firm estimated the total worldwide amount of lubricants from operational discharges from ships would be about 130 to 244 million litres annually. To add perspective, oil pollution from the Exxon Valdez tanker spill in 1989 was 41.6 million litres. Most ships use mineral oil to lubricate the propeller shaft and the oil is contained in the propeller shaftline by the aft seal – which is the oil to sea interface. According to the new U.S. Environment Protection Agency Vessel General Permit (VGP), all vessels built on or after Dec. 19, 2013 and trading in US waters must use an environmentally acceptable lubricant (EAL) in all oil to sea interfaces before their next drydocking. This paper will review: the renaissance of seawater based systems, a general description of a seawater lubricated bearing system, current commercial ship users and results, lower operating costs with “free” seawater and no aft seal, conversions of existing ships and resistance of shipyards to change standard designs from oil to seawater. The paper will also review new Classification rules from LR, CCS and BV for seawater lubricated propeller shaft systems, allowing the shaft to remain in place if monitoring conditions are met - which removes a major obstacle that ship owners had with seawater-based propeller shaft bearing systems.

Abstract:
There has been a lot of interest in trim optimisation to reduce fuel consumption and emissions of ships. Many existing ships are designed for a single operational condition with the aim of producing low resistance at their design speed and draft with an even keel. Given that a ship will often sail outside this condition over its operational life and moreover some vessels such as LNG carriers return in ballast condition in one leg, the effect of trim on ships resistance will be significant. Ship trim optimization analysis has traditionally been done through towing tank testing. Computational techniques have become increasingly popular for design and optimization applications in all engineering disciplines. Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), is the fastest developing area in marine fluid dynamics as an alternative to model tests. High fidelity CFD methods are capable of modelling breaking waves which is especially crucial for trim optimisation studies where the bulbous bow partially emerges or the transom stern partially immerses. This paper presents a trim optimization study on the Kriso Container Ship (KCS) using computational fluid dynamics (CFD) in conjunction with towing tank tests. A series of resistance tests for various trim angles and speeds were conducted at 1:75 scale at design draft. CFD computations were carried out for the same conditions with the hull both fixed and free to sink and trim. Dynamic sinkage and trim add to the computational cost and thus slow the optimisation process. The results obtained from CFD simulations were in good agreement with the experiments. After validating the applicability of the computational model, the same mesh, boundary conditions and solution techniques were used to obtain resistance values for different trim conditions at different Froude numbers. Both the fixed and free trim/sinkage models could predict the trend of resistance with variation of trim angles; however the fixed model failed to measure the absolute values as accurately as the free model. It was concluded that a fixed CFD model, although computationally faster and cheaper, can find the optimum trim angle but cannot predict the amount of savings with very high accuracy. Results concerning the performance of the vessel at different speeds and trim angles were analysed and optimum trim is suggested.

Abstract:
On-board Energy systems in vessels have to use fuel efficiently to maintain ship speed at lowest possible costs. This paper describes how to use ship operational data to improve and maintain efficiency of the vessel’s power production with respect to the condition and performance of equipment. The paper describes an overview of an automated Technical Operations Performance (TOP) Monitoring service. TOP monitors the performance of marine main and auxiliary diesel engines by use of the information collected onboard vessels at regular intervals. Performance data are stored in xml-reports sent as email attachments from ship to shore. This communication is reliable and cost efficient for merchant ships that are on-line only for shorter periods. Load, ISO and environmental corrections make results valid for benchmarking and trending. The service aggregates the hierarchical information obtained from different sources by transferring measurement readings into unified indicators, the Technical Condition Index (TCI) [1]. Experts manually check the automatically generated performance reports and add additional guidance on options to improve power production and machinery conditions analyzing the available data with respect to different targets, such as low engine degradation and high fuel efficiency. The performance reports then influence business processes indicating possible causes for loss of performance in equipment and possible erroneous instrumentation, and the need for maintenance actions. The obtained TCI values show the performance of individual units, or for a fleet/class of equipment and vessels.

Abstract:
Cyber security in the maritime industry became crucial due to both academic researches and incidents. There are academic studies that show vulnerabilities in various navigation equipments such as GPS, ECDIS, AIS and ARPA-Radar. Additionally, there are different cyber incidents around the world. Developments in technology, autonomous ship projects, academic studies and cyber incidents in the sector put in action IMO. As per ISM Code, all shipping companies are mandatory to add “Guidelines on Maritime Cyber Risk Management” manual to their SMS manuals until 1st January 2021. Both OCIMF and CDI failed to be indifferent to developments that are important for tanker operators as well as IMO. While OCIMF added cybersecurity-related questions to vetting programs called TMSA 3 and VIQ 7, CDI also added cybersecurity-related items in SIR 9.8.1 edition. On the other hand, RightShip provides significant vetting service for dry cargo ships. “Inspection and Assessment Report” is issued by RigthShip for dry cargo ships. Questions related with cybersecurity was added with Revision No: 11 dated on 11th May 2017 in “Inspection and Assessment Report”. In this study, cyber security related questions which are asked during TMSA, SIRE and CDI vettings which play a critical role for commercial life of tanker firms, were analyzed. Moreover, questions and efficiency of RightShip that offers vetting service for dry cargo ships, were assessed to maritime cyber security. Also, cybersecurity-related questions in vetting questionnaires were interpreted by the author. These comments rely on benchmarking meetings among tanker operators where the author personally attended, and interview with key persons. Noted observations during vettings may negatively impact both commercial life and reputation of the tanker operators. That’s why the firm names and interviewee names were kept confidential. In this study, it was seen that although IMO demanded verification of cyber security-related implementations for the ship operators until 1st January 2021, this process started earlier for tanker operators.

Abstract:
Three estimates of the 10-yr significant wave height (Hs) are developed for 16 tow scenarios from Perth, Singapore, and Korea to the northwest shelf of Australia. One of the estimates is based on Global Wave Statistics (Hogben, et al., 1986), a database of visual ship observations that has been used extensively by the oil industry. These results are compared to estimates derived from two recently released commercial satellite altimeter databases, SOS and CLIOSat. The mean of the 10-yr Hs for the 16 scenarios calculated from the ship data is 40% (2.6 m) larger then the satellite databases while the variance is 40% less. Evidence suggests the ship-based values are unrealistically high for a number of the scenarios. Results SOS are internally consistent and generally compare favorably with high-quality model hindcast studies in the region. The first-order statistics from CLIOSat compare well to SOS but there are substantial differences for some of the scenarios. Several of the CLIOSat-derived extremes are internally inconsistent and don’t compare well to hindcast results However, firm conclusions must await further work.
