Abstract:
The paper examines how Arvind Adiga in The White Tiger brings forth the challenges of democracy as a judicious system of governance in the era of globalization. Charting an utterly dark immoral journey of the protagonist from stark poverty to prosperity, Adiga exposes the paralyzed democratic governance in its failure to guarantee fair distribution of wealth and resources. With a light-hearted tone, Adiga pleads for 21st century democracy that can outsmart the detrimental effects that globalization has instigated. The paper primarily employs close reading of the text for its primary data bringing scholars and thinkers on democracy and globalization with critics on Adiga and the text in question as secondary data.

Abstract:
This article attempts to discern how the modern Indian writer Aravind Adiga has used literature to expose the moral and social rot in Indian society. In contrast to the majority of Indian writers who romanticize Indian tradition and culture, Adiga would rather excavate the corruption, injustice, and lawlessness that reign supreme between the poor and the rich. Novels, with sarcasm and satire oozing from every page, reveal serious moral issues that otherwise remain unnoticed. Though there is no denying the applicability of the themes, what stands out is the significant lack of any academic interest in Adiga’s presentation of moral decadence in the background of Indian democracy. To bridge this gap, the present paper shall try to study major themes in Adiga’s fiction, especially how his fiction and characters reflect the deep-seated faults of Indian society. By making a thematic analysis of his satirical fiction, the study shall illustrate how Adiga’s fiction reflects the social maladies suffered by people belonging to different economic strata. Through discussing his unique style of satire and social commentary, this paper will make the case for Adiga’s role in the broader discussion of the complexities of modern India.

Abstract:
The novels of Aravind Adiga exhibit the influence of spatial narratives in modern literature while dealing with socio-political, socio-cultural and the psyche of contemporary society. Adiga blends geographical spaces, social spaces, and ideational spaces in his narrative to encounter oppression, class struggle, corruption, and moral dilemmas alongside the human condition in global discourse. Adiga uses distinctive spatial narrative in all three novels, The White Tiger, Last Man in Tower, and Selection Day, to showcase the different dynamics of this. The spatial analysis shows the transformative gloomy picture of urbanisation in Last Man in Tower and the rural-urban divide in The White Tiger.

Abstract: This paper examines the social and cultural shifts in contemporary India as depicted in Aravind Adiga's The White Tiger and Last Man in Tower. Both novels critically engage with the transformations brought about by economic liberalization, exploring themes of class struggle, corruption, power dynamics, and shifting individual identities. The White Tiger delves into the stark realities of economic inequality, exposing the contradictions between aspiration and systemic oppression. Meanwhile, Last Man in Tower portrays the violation of urbanization and capitalist ambitions on traditional values and community bonds. Adiga’s narratives present a nuanced critique of modernization, highlighting the tension between tradition and progress in a rapidly developing society. Through convincing characters and sharp social commentary, Adiga reflects on the consequences of globalization, raising questions about moral compromise, ambition, and survival in an increasingly competitive world. This study analyzes how Adiga’s works mirror and critique the socio-cultural transformations shaping modern India.

Abstract:

Abstract:
This study aimed at describing the characteristics of daily precipitation and discharge extremes in the Adige river basin at the city of Trento. Annual maximum series for the period 1975−2014 were analyzed in terms of trends, seasonality indices and L-moments. A Mann-Kendall trend analysis showed a weak but significant signal of decreasing ex-tremes; the percentages of sites with significant negative trends were overall larger than the significance levels. Precipitation extremes were characterized primarily by autumn storms, while floods had a stronger seasonality with peaks occurring predominantly in June and July which indicated that the timing not solely explained by rainfall maxima. The Adige basin was found to be a homogenous region with respect to precipitation, but the results did not support a corresponding assumption for discharge. A regional fre-quency analysis was performed for precipitation data and found both the Pearson type III and generalized normal distributions to be adequate regional frequency distributions. The extreme daily precipitation at Trento with a 100-year return period was estimated to be between 114 and 148 mm/d.

Inadequate research in the field of wind dynamics has forced engineers to rely on design codes or wind tunnel tests for sufficient data. The present work uses a computational wind dynamics method to compare the coefficient of pressure (Cp) for the different aerodynamic shapes. ADINA, a finite element package, contains an inbuilt turbulence model which will be used to construct four different shapes for comparison. Results are verified with the experimental and simulation data. The effect of increase in the Reynolds number on the flow has been studied. Graphs for the pressure, velocity and turbulence energy distribution have been developed to assist the engineers in design.
by Ankur Bajoria.
M.Eng.

Abstract:
Today we are living, not only but also in economic terms, perhaps the most turbulent and volatile times in the history of mankind. The almost full globalization of markets, leveraged by new technological resources, particularly at information and communication technologies level, leads to a fast global spread of economic, social and cultural changes, impacting, inducing and affecting consumers and organization's operating and external environments and, therefore, the companies operating in them. The globalization is not "newness" for the Portuguese wine industry as this industry is a globalization’s pioneering industry, at least at the export level. However, the integration in the former EEC, now European Union, with the Common Agricultural Policy, CAP, along with the markets opening, it represents major changes for this industry and brought new challenges to it. Having about 300 partners, an annual wine production of circa 8 million liters generating an annual turnover circa 6 million euros, the Adega Cooperativa de Palmela, although with relative economic weight in the national outlook, is one of the largest wine companies in the Península of Setúbal, having a huge influence in the local economy, particularly in the agricultural sector, being even vital for many winegrowers. Established in 1955, the Adega Cooperativa de Palmela has faced various market changes over time. However, how does Adega Cooperativa de Palmela serves its consumers and their needs? How satisfies them? What marketing practices they have? "The Marketing Practices at the Adega Cooperativa de Palmela" is thus the theme of this Master's Thesis where, using the case study methodology, after a bibliographic review and using documentary analysis, data and observations and interviews with "privileged witnesses", we will analyze the sort of marketing practices the Adega Cooperativa de Palmela is performing.

Abstract:
In the regional analysis, sociocultural interrelations – particularly the psychologic links between man and his space – take a fundamental importance. Likewise the local development implies an expansion of regional power, for the region is also perceived as a social and cultural community which desire a self- government since 1945 the german speaking and ladine populations have struggled for their autonomy. A first statute has been insufficiently applied. The second statute of autonomy, brought in effect since 1972 gives to the german and ladin minorities a large power of self-government. The first part of the work presents the territorial frame and the ethnic and historic roots of South Tyrol particularism. The second part studies the two successive statutes of autonomy and their application. The third part analyse the policy of self development and the results in regional planning agriculture, tourism, industry, cultural policy and protection of the mountain. The South-Tyrol knows an original development. The agriculture has succeeded his modernisation without depopulation of the mountain. The province us the first touristic region of Italian Alps. But the relations between the linguistic groups stay delicate

Abstract:
Abstract Light combat vehicles are playing an important support role for both troops and other heavily armored combat vehicles. As such, they have a much greater risk than in previous roles of being subjected to transient loads such as impact and overpressure loads. Propagation of ballistic shock from an impacted region to the critical locations and attachment points for secondary systems can cause damage and misalignment to sensitive equipments contributing to malfunction and reduction of vehicle performance. Accuracy of determination of dynamic response of these vehicles is directly dependent on the degree of refinement of the generated model and how well the model incorporates the essential features of the vehicle and correlates to its important characteristics without being over-burdened by non-essential details. Additionally, response of nonlinear components of the vehicle in high frequency regime may influence the overall global response of the vehicle. As a result, hatch openings and access door cutouts with unsymmetric locations may have to be incorporated in the finite element model to allow fair comparison with first order experiments involving a stripped vehicle hull. The current study is an attempt to assess the influence of multiple rectangular cutouts on the overall transient response of a vehicle hull subjected to a side-on impact load.

Abstract:
Lehiakortasunari buruzko 2024ko Txosten honetan, inklusioaren zeharkako ardatzean sakondu dugu, ongizate inklusiboa sortzeko gai izango den lehiakortasun inklusiboa ziurtatzeak aurrean jartzen dizkigun erronkei buruz hausnartzeko. Txostenaren hasieran, Euskal Autonomia Erkidegoaren lehiakortasun eta ongizate errendimendu orokorra aztertu dugu. Horretarako, 66 adierazleren bilakaerarik berriena aurkeztuko dugu, ongizatea helburu duen lurralde lehiakortasunerako gure esparruaren arabera antolatuta. Horren ondoren, gogoeta kontzeptual bat proposatu dugu, inklusioak lurralde baten lehiakortasunean eta ongizatean duen garrantziaren inguruan. Eta, horrekin batera,Euskal Autonomia Erkidegoko lehiakortasunaren eta ongizatearen analisi enpirikoa egin dugu, inklusioaren hiru dimentsio kontuan hartuta: jatorria, generoa eta adina.
