Growth curves of the Morada Nova sheep males and females were described using nonlinear models and the relationships between body weight and thoracic circumference were evaluated. Altogether 1516 repeated measures of body weight and thoracic circumference of the Morada Nova sheep (668 males and 848 females) taken since birth till 730 days of age were used. The Brody, Richards, von Bertalanffy, Gompertz, and Logistic models have been tested. The Fisher’s test (F) was used to verify the differences (P < 0.05) in growth curves between males and females. Tone curves are one of the simplest techniques for image enhancement. Specified as a function, a tone curve is a transformation that maps pixel levels of an input image to new output levels. Tone curves are the basis of many contrast enhancement algorithms, including Contrast Limited Histogram Equalisation (CLHE), which derives a tone curve from a modification of the image histogram. While these methods can provide good enhancement, they are generally non-linear. In this paper we show the surprising result that a tone curve generated by the non-linear CLHE method (and HE) can be calculated by

We investigate facilitating shape subtraction and addition with two-dimensional (planar) non-uniform rational basis-spline (NURB) curves with the codes and conventions of modeling while preserving the visual continuity of curved shapes. Our proposed tool, developed in a common digital modeling environment, automates the adjustment of parameters for tangential continuity of curves in shape rule applications. Existing gage widening standards and the influence of gage widening on the curve passing performance of trains and rail wear were examined. The existing gage widening theory can determine the minimum curve radius that needs to be widened, the widening value required by curves with different radii, and whether multiaxle locomotives can pass small-radius curves. However, it does not quantify the influence of the gage widening value on the curve passing performance and track maintenance workload. The range of the minimum curve radius that needs to be widened is 220–350 m, whereas some countries a

Abstract Performance prediction is one of the important contents of oilfield development. It is also an important content affecting investment decision-making, especially for offshore oilfields with large investment. At present, most oilfields in China have entered high water cut stage or even extra high water cut stage, which requires higher prediction accuracy. Water drive curve is an important method for predicting performance. Traditional methods are based on exponential formulas, but these methods have poor adaptability in high water cut period. Because traditional methods deviate from st

Abstract An algorithm for three-axis NC tool path generation on sculptured surfaces is presented. Non-constant parameter tool contact curves are defined on the part by intersecting parallel planes with the part model surface Four essential elements of this algorithm are introduced: initial chordal approximation, true machining error calculation, direct gouge elimination, and non-constant parameter tool pass interval adjustment. A software implementation of this algorithm produces graphical output depicting the tool path superimposed over the part surface, and it outputs cutter location (CL) da

External pressure charts of ASME Boiler & Pressure Vessel Code do not account for reduction of buckling strength due to creep under long-term loads at elevated temperatures. This restricts the design of ASME boiler and pressure vessel components in the creep range. Although the design factors and equations for creep buckling are available in various other literatures, the external pressure charts in the creep range are not available at present time. External pressure charts are developed for most commonly used elevated temperature materials (Carbon & 1.25Cr-0.5Mo and 2.25Cr-1Mo low all

Most of the GE gas turbine fleet operates with exhaust temperature control characterized by various forms of Temperature Control Curves (TCC). The TCC which all have specific isothermal limits (maximum exhaust gas temperature) assigned. The isothermal limit is defined mainly by the materials used in the exhaust area including the exhaust frame, exhaust diffuser, struts. The isothermal limit is set to protect the turbine exhaust section from damage by excessive temperature. Although the isothermal limit is typically driven by turbine exhaust temperature limitation, there is a growing demand for

This paper analyzes how labor ows respond to permanent idiosyncratic shifts in rm-level production functions and demand curves using very detailed Swedish micro data. Shocks to rms physical productivity have only modest eects on rm-level employment decisions. In contrast, the paper documents rapid and substantial employment adjustments through hires and separations in response to rm-level demand shocks. The choice of adjustment margin depends on the sign of the shock: rms adjust through increased hires if these shocks are positive and through increased separations if the shocks are negative.

Abstract:
We investigate the relation between existing fiscal rules and investments in the context of a fiscal crisis in Brazil. We analyze existing fiscal rules at national and subnational levels, their enforcement, and proposed alternatives. Using narrative analysis, case studies, interviews, empirical estimation, and model simulations, we conclude that public investment is not closely related to fiscal rules in Brazil but is mainly determined by fiscal conditions both at national and subnational (state) levels. It is the steady increase of personnel expenditures in real terms that underlies the fisca
