Abstract:
This paper examines attributions to the influence of Alfred Adler by primary theorists from contemporary cognitive and cognitive-behavioral theories of personality and psychotherapy. Although Adler’s influence is often not recognized by the mainstream of applied psychologists, a number of leading theorists have acknowledged Adler as a major source of their ideas. Circumstances leading to this discrepancy are examined.

Abstract:

Abstract:

Abstract:

Abstract:
In this article, the authors revisit the professional relationship, mutual influence, and enduring legacy of two major inspirations on the humanistic psychotherapy movement, Alfred Adler and Abraham Maslow. Starting with their meeting and early relationship and then looking at the characteristic constructs of each man’s theory, the authors expose the basis for a therapeutic collaboration between the two in a current psychotherapy. As both theoreticians held creativity as vital to the well-being of the individual, the final section of the article illustrates the importance of going beyond theoretical extrapolation and applying creativity within the therapeutic setting.

Of Human Bondage, one of W. S. Maugham’s great works, is supposed to be created on the basis of the real life of the author. It centers on the psychological growth of the hero, Philip, from a crippled boy to a mentally matured man. Following Alfred Adler’s theory of inferiority compensation, through a close look into Philip’s experiences with different women in his life, this paper tries to probe into the effect that the initial inferiority in Philip could produce on his view of love and also on his mentality and aims to explore the compensation Philip seeks to get for what he is deprived of in his early age.

This article is studying some of the characters in The Corrections (2001) and Freedom (2010) by Jonathan Franzen (1959) in the light of Alfred W. Adler's (1870-1937) concept of masculine protest. Adler has introduced different aspects of masculine protest some of which are found in the studied novels. This article intends to find the characters who suffer from masculine protest because of the fact that this concept is one of the elements that demonstrates people's inferiority and superiority complex which are the causes of neurosis. On the next level, the differences between the studied novels based on the studied concept will be mentioned, and finally the link between this concept with post feminism and Freud's theories will be briefly discussed.

Abstract:
Contemporary thinking about the meaning of life seems impossible, or erroneous, without reference to the concept of V.E. Frankl. Despite the fact that it was created just after the Second World War, it remains up to date. However, the first concept of the meaning of life was of Alfred Adler individual psychology concept. Although many of its elements are no longer valid today, I think its contemporary analysis is important for two reasons: 1. The misinterpretation of Adler’s view by V.E. Frankl; 2. The pedagogical theme developed in Adler’s concept (the importance of education and upbringing institutions for shaping the meaning of human life), and their lack in the concept of V.E. Frankl. Thus, the first part of the article briefly discusses the analysis of Freud’s views, without which it seems impossible to understand Adler’s thought, then briefly summarizes the basic elements of Adler’s concept of the meaning of life, so that the next part of the article will dedicate the conclusions from this concept to contemporary pedagogy.
