Abstract:
The Adlerian lifestyle counseling approach provides insight into a person's dimly conscious patterns of expectations and goals that are used in daily living. This somewhat eclectic perspective, which incorporates many major premises of contemporary counseling, can be helpful to understand the client as a person as well as the individualized meaning of the disability to the individual. The evolution, assumptions and characteristics, applications, research, and resources are discussed. Particular emphasis is given to the four phases of relationship, lifestyle investigation, lifestyle interpretation, and reorientation.

Abstract:
This study examined the difference in effectiveness between Adlerian Play Therapy and content mastery services in increasing physical, social, and task attractiveness to students in primary schools. The factorial design experimental method was applied to 72 fifth-grade students from two public elementary schools in Bandung, Indonesia, whose dimensions of attractiveness were lower than the other study groups. Each intervention carried out six meetings in different schools. Adlerian Play Therapy starts from the one-session relationship-building stage, the lifestyle investigation stage through the three-session secret book, the lifestyle understanding stage through one-session games, and the reorientation & re-education stage through one-session games. Classical guidance services for content mastery with a community circle strategy start from building relationships in two sessions, introducing the importance of one session, improving the social aspects of one session, improving the physical aspects of one session, and improving the aspects of one session assignments. Manova analyzed the Interpersonal Attraction Scale (IAS) instrument. Adlerian Play Therapy further enhances all dimensions of interpersonal attractiveness than content mastery services. Recommendations are aimed at counseling teachers to use Adlerian Play Therapy to increase children's social, physical, and assignment attractiveness. It is hoped that other researchers will research further related to increasing task attractiveness.

Abstract:
For counselor professional and counselor education, supervision is an important process, in which more experienced professional helps and guides less experienced professional. To provide an effective and beneficial supervision, various therapy, development, or process based approaches and models have been developed. In addition, different eclectic models integrating more than one model have been developed. In this paper, as a supervision model, multi combined Adlerian supervision model is proposed. The model includes Adlerian supervision and its integration with discrimination model (DM; Bernard, 1979). DM is one of the most known counseling supervision model and Adlerian therapy is an important theory to understand human nature in both counseling and supervision settings. Since supervision is one of the important concepts in counseling, the current integrated model important is useful for counselors and counselor educators for their supervision practice. Theoretical tenets of the pieces of the integration first are explained by reviewing the literature. Then, the current model and its process are explained. Limitations and strengths are discussed with implications for counselor supervisors.

Abstract:
Counselor education (CE) programs are expected to provide counselors-in-training (CITs) with a diversity-infused curriculum. Throughout the CE literature, there are many available methods to accomplish this goal, yet trainees have reported a lack of self-efficacy in essential multicultural competencies before entering clinical work. Graduates of CE programs have also noted feeling unprepared when working with culturally diverse clients. The integration of culturally responsive models in CE programs is limited, and methods to decolonize current educational practices remain sparse. To address these gaps, we propose a culturally responsive and decolonizing framework grounded in the extant research that integrates relational-cultural theory (RCT) and Adlerian theory principles. The Relational-Cultural and Adlerian Multicultural Framework (RAMF) is intended to be a new pedagogical approach to enhance multicultural education across CE programs. By integrating RCT and Adlerian theory frameworks, the RAMF may offer a more comprehensive lens to view multicultural and social justice issues.

Abstract:
According to the ‘Individual Psychology’ of Alfred Adler (1870–1937), Freud's contemporary and rival, everyone seeks superiority. But only those who can adapt their aspirations to meet the needs of others find fulfilment. Children who are rejected or pampered are so desperate for superiority that they fail to develop social feeling, and endanger themselves and society. This article argues that Mahy's realistic novels invite Adlerian interpretation. It examines the character of Hero, the elective mute who is the narrator-protagonist of The Other Side of Silence (1995) , in terms of her experience of rejection. The novel as a whole, it is suggested, stresses the destructiveness of the neurotically driven quest for superiority. Turning to Mahy's supernatural romances, the article considers novels that might seem to resist the Adlerian template. Focusing, in particular, on the young female protagonists of The Haunting (1982) and The Changeover (1984), it points to the ways in which their magical power is utilised for the sake of others. It concludes with the suggestion that the triumph of Mahy's protagonists lies not so much in their generally celebrated ‘empowerment’, as in their transcendence of the goal of superiority for its own sake.

Abstract:
The hyperactivity and impulsivity experienced by children who are diagnosed with attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) can pose challenges for families, teachers, and mental health counselors (Barkley, 2000). The authors present an integrative model of Adlerian play therapy and adventure-based counseling (ABC) that extends beyond traditional talk therapy, fosters a strength-based perspective, and is action-oriented and dynamic. Specific ABC treatment activities for working with children and families affected by ADHD are presented in the context of the four phases of treatment in Adlerian play therapy.

Abstract:
Children's externalizing and off-task behaviors are deemed a major concern for elementary teachers and interfere with the classroom learning environment (Abidin & Robinson, 2002; Shillingford-Butler & Theodore, 2013). Children with these behaviors are at risk of falling behind academically and experiencing ongoing behavioral problems throughout their development. This single-case research design investigates the effectiveness of Adlerian play therapy on the behaviors of two elementary-aged children who have externalizing and off-task classroom behaviors. Results for this intervention suggest Adlerian play therapy may show promise as an effective intervention for school counselors and school-based counselors.

ADHD is a neurodevelopmental disorder in which a child presents a significant problem due to a lack of attention or hyperactivity-impulsivity. ADHD can interfere with the development of children in terms of cognitive, behavioral, socialization and communication. A common mistake that ADHD treatment through pharmacological therapy will eliminate all the symptoms of hyperactivity and impulsive problems in children with ADHD, but the use of ADHD drugs in the long term then it will affect the children. Another alternative for dealing with ADHD children using a counseling approach is behavioral cognitive behavioral approach and Adlerian play therapy.Understanding of behavioral cognitive approaches and Adlerian play therapy can help address early childhood problems especially those with ADHD disorders.

This study investigated the relations among psychological birth order, actual birth order, and lifestyle. The study also further examined the convergent validity of the White-Campbell Psychological Birth Order Inventory. This inventory and Kern's Lifestyle Scale were administered to 126 individuals in a southeastern urban university. The several analyses of variance and canonical correlation analysis (1) supported a stronger relationship between psychological birth order and lifestyle than between actual birth order and lifestyle, (2) identified differential relationships between particular birth-order positions and lifestyle scales that were predicted and in accord with Adlerian theory, and (3) further supported the validity of the inventory. The results reaffirmed the lifestyle pattern and birth-order characterizations of Adlerian theory.

The system of foster care that is currently in operation throughout the United States can present many challenges for counselors as they work with families toward positive outcomes. This article will endeavor to describe common issues and struggles currently facing children and families experiencing foster care and how these difficulties might influence the counseling process, as it relates to the goal of reunification from an Adlerian theoretical perspective. One of the most complex issues facing families and counselors is the commonly sought goal of reunifying children with family members following a placement in foster care. An Adlerian family counseling model will be presented to provide a framework to assist counselors in facilitating this delicate and sometimes capricious process.
