Abstract:
This study examines the correlation between parental supervision and emotional development among adolescents in the city of Maroua. A sample of two hundred and fifty (250) adolescents aged 11 to 19 has been selected through a simple random sampling selection. These data were subjected to the linear simple regression test. The results show that there is a correlation between parental supervision and the emotional development of adolescents. After analyzing the data collected, the hypotheses formulated on the different parental styles are: the authoritarian style (4.3%), the democratic style (3.

Background The increasing burden of noncommunicable diseases that are prevalent in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) is largely attributed to modifiable behavioral risk factors such as unhealthy diets and insufficient physical activity (PA). The adolescent stage, defined as 10 to 24 years of age, is an important formative phase of life and offers an opportunity to reduce the risk of noncommunicable diseases across the life course and for future generations. Objective The aim of this paper is to describe a protocol for a study using a convergent mixed methods design to explore exposures

This study explores the perspectives and experiences of eleven adolescent girls in Cameroon on the meanings, purposes and barriers to education. Arts-based and visual methodologies are used to engage the girls in critical dialogue. A participatory approach gives value to the knowledge of local people as expertise and insight, which is often unknown to outsiders (NGOs, researchers, policy makers), in identifying issues specific to their own communities. With limited research done with girls, as opposed to on girls, this study seeks to hear the voices of girls, in-school and out-of-school, and m

The Population Council initiated its work on adolescents in the mid-1990s. At that time, those advocating greater attention to adolescent issues were concerned about adolescent fertility—particularly outside of marriage—and adolescent “risk-taking” behavior. As an international scientific organization with its mandate centered around the needs of developing countries, the Council sought a more nuanced and context-specific understanding of the problems confronting adolescents in the developing world. In working with colleagues inside and outside the Council, it became clear that information on
