Abstract:
Problematic behaviour in adopted teenage children often stems from their very early experiences. In examining the evolution of the relationship between parents and their adopted children from adolescence to early adulthood David Howe identifies three types of adoption, each associated with a distinct pattern of pre-placement care. On the basis of this classification the quality of parent-child relationships is explored at two key stages: when the adopted person is 16 and over 23. In addition, the adopters interviewed in Howe's study provided their own long-term views of the adoption process when looking back. Those who managed to survive the most stressful years often reported much more relaxed, reciprocal relationships with their grown-up children. But they also underlined the importance of expert advice and support to help see them through the worst times. Conclusion

Abstract:
This article presents the results of a research project on the adoption of B2B e-commerce (B2Bec) by Canadian manufacturers. The study provides an analysis of the characteristics of organizations which have adopted B2Bec technologies and attempts to outline the features that differentiate adopters from non-adopters. The results of a preliminary analysis show the existence of three distinct B2Bec adopter types: non-adopters, partial-adopters, and full-adopters. Leadership-related variables appear to be the most important determinants of adoption followed by benefits analysis.

Abstract:
A retrospective analysis of dog adoption records was performed with the aim to determine the differences in preferences of male and female adopters in the Czech Republic. From January 1, 2010 to December 31, 2016, 955 dogs were adopted out of a selected shelter. Significantly (P = 0.03) more dogs were adopted by women than by men (52.6% vs 47.4%, respectively). No preference (P = 0.06) for adopting a dog of the same or opposite sex as the adopter’s was found. Women adopted more (P = 0.02) small dogs and men more (P = 0.004) large dogs, while the adoption rate of medium dogs did not differ (P = 0.16) between men and women. Significantly more (P = 0.05) older dogs were adopted by women than by men. With the exception of brown dogs (adopted more often by women) and black dogs with dark markings (adopted more often by men), dogs with different coat colors were adopted equally by men and women. No difference was found between the ratio of crossbred and purebred dogs adopted by men and women. This study fills gaps in scientific knowledge on adopters’ preferences. Women are more willing to adopt dogs including those that may require special care (older dogs). However, women are less likely to adopt large dogs. The lower number of male adopters may be the reason why large dogs are often reported to be difficult to rehome. To remedy this, shelter operators should explore ways how to address men if they have large dogs available for adoption.

Abstract:
YPAB is an institution that keeps and takes care babies and children who don’t have parents. The babies and the children can be adopted, but the institution has their own regulations for potential adopters who want to adopt children. All this time, adopter who adopted the babies or the children from YPAB institution is done manually which need long time. Therefore, DSS is needed for decide a potential adopter. The purpose of this research is developing a DSS in the process of selecting potential adopters. Meanwhile, the research method uses the Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) and the Exponential Comparison Method (MPE) and the System testing uses black-box and validity testing. System testing is used black-box and validity testing by comparing the real YPAB data and the calculation system results. The test results show that the adoption system using the Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) method and the Exponential Comparison Method (MPE) has a good performance so that the system is feasible to be implemented in YPAB.Keywords: DSS, MPE, Children adoption, YPAB.

Abstract:
Purpose Internet-based intangible network good (IING) has undergone rapid developments, even revolutionized multiple industries in recent years. IING is highly dependent on the rapid diffusion rates for development success. For firms, how to select the initial targets or “seeding points” to accelerate the adoption process is critical in network marketing campaigns. The purpose of this study is to provide a new method to identify the optimal initial adopters and adoption paths. Design/methodology/approach First, the author generalize three aspects influencing IING’s adoption, namely, innovation attributes, customer’s personality and word-of-mouth. Next, we establish a modified gravity model to describe how social interactions affect consumer’s adoption behavior. Then, simulate the adoption process by setting each agent as the initial adopter to identify the optimal initial adopters. Finally, trace the information flow to forecast the adoption paths. Findings The model reveals how individual interactions (micro level) aggregate into the diffusion process (macro level). The optimal initial adopters are determined by a combination of factors as follows: IING’s attributes, the adopter’s diffusion ability, the potential-adopter’s personality and the trust degree between adopters and potential-adopters. Among all these factors, trust degree plays a most important role. Originality/value This study proposes the conceptual model of IING’s adoption from a perspective of dyadic influence, in which an adopter’s influence on its peers depends on pairwise characteristics of both parties. The authors propose a new method to identify the optimal initial adopters and adoption paths based on the gravity model. It is the first time to introduce the gravity model to describe IING’s adoption, which is a creative application of social physics. The findings provide new insights in IING’s adoption and identifying the key nodes in networks.

Abstract:
Progressive development in the field of information technology (IT) has brought in remarkable changes in the products as well as methods of payment and settlement system in the banking sector. In India, various types of payment systems are functioning apart from the traditional payment systems where the instruments are physically exchanged and settled manually. Smart cards are a new form of retail payment instrument, installed to facilitate retail transactions through electronic means. In 1999, the Reserve Bank of India issued guidelines to the banks regarding introduction and usage of smart cards. Smart cards are currently being issued by several banks in India which have tied up with Financial Information Network and Operations Ltd. (FINO). The IDBI bank has introduced its smart card called MoneySmart; Corporation Bank has issued CorpSmart; and Bank of India has issued its e-purse cards. PNB, SBI, ABN Amro, ICICI Bank, Bank of Baroda and some other banks have also launched smart card-based banking solutions (Kaur & Kaur, 2008). The main objective of this study is to identify the factors that may vary between the adopters and the non-adopters of smart cards in Indian banks. Banks that have adopted the cards may have different characteristics from those that have not yet adopted the cards. In other words, with the exploration of various characteristics of the banks, the study tries to differentiate between the adopter and non-adopter categories of the banks regarding smart cards with respect to their profitability, size, competitive advantage, efficiency, asset quality, financing pattern, diversification, cost of operations, etc. The empirical results evidently reveal that the banks providing smart cards differ in their characteristics from that of the banks that have not yet adopted it. It shows that the banks that adopted smart cards are larger in size, more efficient, pay lesser wages, and have more industry advantage and thus, in terms of some characteristics, outperform the non-adopter banks.

Abstract:
Denna uppsats behandlar ämnet adoption utifrån etnicitet, identitet och anknytning ur ett livsbiografiskt perspektiv. Uppsatsens syfte är att undersöka hur internationellt adopterade vuxna upplever sin livssituation samt hur livssituationen påverkas i relation till etnisk bakgrund, identitetskapande och anknytningsmönster. Forskning visar att adopterades livssituation kan påverkas negativt av adoptionen. Vårt empiriska material är insamlat genom fyra semistrukturerade intervjuer, som analyserats med inspiration från en tematisk analysmetod. I vårt resultat uppger ingen av våra respondenter att de själva upplevt några problem med sin adoption. Det som de upplevt genom livet tror de inte har något med adoptionen att göra utan är slumpmässiga händelser. Det vi sett är att etniciteten och identiteten påverkas i olika kontexter däremot visar resultatet att adoptionen inte haft någon påverkan på anknytningsmönstret.

Abstract:
Denna studie syftar till att lyfta fram de faktorer som påverkar de adopterades livsprocess och visa vad som är avgörande för att skapa en trygg identitet. För att besvara frågeställningen har vi genomfört tio intervjuer och tagit del av en självbiografi och en självrapport. Vi har genomfört denna studie med grundad teori som metodologiskt angreppssätt, vilket innebär att vår frågeställning har vuxit fram ur datamaterialet. Resultatet visar att de faktorer som har påverkat internationellt adopterades livsprocess är en trygg kärna, att kärlek är tjockare än blod, omgivningens stöd, tacksamhet, svenskhet, adoptionens minimala betydelse, bristande intresse, öppenhet till adoptionen, anknytning till födelselandet, ambivalens inför adoptionen, adoptionens maximala betydelse och tillskrivningar kopplat till adoption. Avgörande för att skapa en trygg identitet är en trygg kärna, villkorslös kärlek, stöd från omgivningen och en svensk tillhörighet. Det teoretiska- och begreppsliga ramverk vi använt oss av är symbolisk interaktionism och begreppen stigma, identitet samt svenskhet. Den tidigare forskning vi har tagit del av är indelad i tre teman, svenskhet och rasifiering, identitetsarbete och självkänsla samt mental hälsa och välbefinnande. Den tidigare forskningen belyser dissonansen som internationellt adopterade kan erfara vad gäller svenskhet kontra ett icke-vitt utseende vilket kan resultera i identitetskriser och psykisk ohälsa.

Abstract:
Den här studien undersöker en språkbytesprocess hos en 4-årig adopterad flicka några månader efter flytten till Sverige. Studien fokuserar på vilka strategier barnet använder för att kommunicera. De undersökta strategierna utgår från de Geers forskning (1992), där kommunikationsstrategier och inlärningsstrategier samt sociala strategier behandlas. Med utgångspunkt i resultatet diskuteras hur barnets språk kan relateras till modersmål eller förstaspråk respektive andraspråk. Vid sex tillfällen har barnets spontana kommunikation observerats och spelats in med hjälp av videokamera. Därefter har detta material transkriberats och analyserats. Resultatet visar att det är främst icke-verbala kommunikationsstrategier som används, och att det finns skillnader i strategianvändningen beroende på samtalets kontext. En övergripande slutsats är att strategianvändningen i någon mån är medveten, och att hon väljer att använda de verbala eller icke-verbala strategier som står till buds istället för att undvika kommunikation.

Hur upplever personerna i studien inkluderande och exkluderande? Föreliggande studie behandlar 7 adopterade individers relation till sin egna identitet och skolan och samhället i stort.  Den tidigare forskningen har behandlat både inkludering och exkludering, mestadels ur en specialpedagogisk synvinkel. Aktuella forskningsläget om adoption och adopterade har behandlat ras, identitet, stereotypa föreställningar, speciellt stöd som kan behövas föradopterade, hur adopterade vuxna känner sig i samhället. Syftet med studien blir således att undersöka hur adopterade förhåller sig till sin identitet och om den identiteten blivitexkluderad eller lyfts fram i skolsammanhang.

Abstract:
Det varierar stort i vilka erfarenheter barnen har med sig när de blir adopterade. Majoriteten av de barn som blir internationellt adopterade har i förväg kända särskilda behov på grund av exempelvis sjukdomar, funktionshinder eller svår social bakgrund. En del kan ha tillbringat den första tiden i livet med sin biologiska familj, medan andra kan ha blivit lämnade vid födseln. Dessa separationer kan sätta djupa spår hos adoptivbarnet och bilda problematik under uppväxten (Myndigheten för internationella adoptionsfrågor, 2013). Studien syftar till att undersöka om adoptivpersoner upplever problem relaterat till sina liv som adopterade, och i sådana fall undersöka hur dessa problem kan se ut. Empirin utgörs av kvalitativa intervjuer med tre adoptivpersoner som sedan har transkriberats och analyserats utifrån tematisk innehållsanalys. De framtagna temana har analyserats med teorierna symbolisk interaktionism och stigma. Dessa teman är: bakgrund, familj, identitet, tankar och funderingar samt biologiska rötter. Intervjupersonera är adopterade ifrån Sydkorea och Indien, samtliga uppvuxna i Sverige. Resultaten tyder på att adoptivbarnets tidiga socialisationsperiod med adoptivföräldrarna och socialiseringen in i samhället är betydande för dess identitetsutveckling och självkänsla. Således är bland annat uppväxten, familjen och samhället viktiga faktorer som påverkar och formar adoptivpersonen. Många adoptivpersoner kämpar med inre och yttre processer som pågår samtidigt.

Abstract:
Att uppmärksamma människors som är adopterade fysiska och psykiska hälsa är viktigt eftersom det är en grupp i samhället där det visat sig finnas större tendenser till psykiskt ohälsa och social problematik. Det har också visat sig att adoptivbarn har varit i större behov av läkarvård än barn födda i biologiska familjer. Syftet med studien är att beskriva upplevelser adoptivbarn kan få av att skiljas från sitt ursprung och växa upp i en familj som inte är deras biologiska. Studien grundas på två självbiografier som analyserats enligt Lundman och Hällgren-Graneheims (2008) kvalitativa innehållsanalys. Resultatet innefattar tre huvudkategorier med tre respektive två underkategorier. Den första huvudkategorin är: Tankar om identitet med underkategorierna: Vem är jag, Att alltid vara annorlunda och En fot i varje land. Den andra huvudkategorin är: Känsla av tillhörighet och distans med underkategorierna: Sorgen över att ha blivit övergiven och Känslan av att vara olik, önskan att vara lik. Den tredje huvudkategorin är: Möten med omvärlden med underkategorierna: Kränkande behandling och Omgivningens frågor och synpunkter. Resultatet visar att kvinnorna ofta har upplevt ett lidande, bland annat till följd av att de känt sig annorlunda, haft svårt att hitta eller förstå sin identitet. De har också upplevt avsaknad av tillhörighet till familjen, samhället och även till sitt ursprungsland. I diskussionen har författaren valt att ta upp delar av resultatet av vikt för sjuksköterskeprofessionen. Utomeuropeiskt adopterades studieresultat skiljer sig enligt tidigare studier åt mellan adopterade med olika geografiskt ursprung. Studier har även visat att personer med rasifierade utseenden kan möta stereotypa föreställningar och rasism i utbildningssammanhang. Hur sådana situationer gestaltat sig och hanterats av adopterade med olika studieförmåga är däremot mindre känt. Syftet med föreliggande studie var att, med utgångspunkt i socialpsykologiska teorier om samspel mellan sociala identiteter, stereotyper och studieprestationer, söka fördjupad kunskap om hur adopterade med god studieförmåga har upplevt och hanterat stereotypa föreställningar i utbildningssammanhang. Totalt tio intervjuer med utomeuropeiskt adopterade kvinnor och transpersoner med akademisk examen undersöktes med tematisk analys. Fyra typer av strategier och deras effekter beskrevs; undvikande, accepterande, omorienterande och konfronterande. Dessutom beskrevs avsaknad av strategier och brist på stöd och resurser från omgivningen. Adopterade från Korea hade oftare mött positiva stereotypa föreställningar om sin teoretiska kompetens medan övriga adopterade hade mött negativa stereotypa föreställningar om sin förmåga. Resultatet talar för att inte enbart individuella egenskaper och förhållanden före adoptionen, utan även psykologiska och sociala aspekter i den adopterades nya kontext, kan ha betydelse för adopterades prestationer i utbildningssammanhang. Studien gav uppslag till möjliga interventioner.

Syftet med studien är att undersöka hur internationellt adopterade upplever sin identitet. Vidare undersöks hur delaktighet i samhället påverkas av att vara adopterad och även ursprungskulturens påverkan på identitet och delaktighet i samhället. Studien genomfördes med kvalitativ ansats med halvstrukturerade intervjuer. Materialet analyserades med tematisk analys. I resultatet framkommer olika faktorer som påverkar identiteten. Exempelvis annorlunda utseende i relation till sin omgivning, om de adopterade hittat sin biologiska familj samt om samtalen kring adoptionen är ett accepterat samtalsämne. Språket framstår som en viktig del i delaktigheten i samhället. Avsaknad av delaktighet beror främst på om individen upplevt utanförskap och rasism. Om ursprungskulturen har någon påverkan på individens identitet och delaktighet ges delade meningar. Samtliga informanter har direkta eller indirekta kopplingar till sin biologiska kultur. Utifrån ett socialpedagogiskt perspektiv är det viktigt att de adopterade själva uppfattar sig som en del i gemenskapen i adoptionslandet för att färdigställa synen på sig själv och sitt identitetsskapande. I diskussionen framkommer att identitet är sammankopplat med rasism. Hur delaktigheten uppges ha blivit påverkad av att vara adopterad är olika utifrån individuella uppfattningar. Även ursprungskulturen har haft en individuell påverkan. Vi ser brister i hur barnets bästa beaktas vid adoptioner.

Vilka faktorer har varit viktiga för hur intervjupersonerna förhåller sig till sitt ursprung och sin identitet? Har adopterades föreningar betydelse för intervjupersonernas identitetsformande? Det empiriska materialet består av sex halvstrukturerade intervjuer med fyra kvinnor och två män. Hälften av intervjupersonerna är medlemmar i en förening för adopterade. Hur intervjupersonerna definierar sig, speglar inte så mycket i vad de har för relation till sitt ursprung eller om de tillhör en förening. En svensk självidentifikation behöver inte nödvändigtvis innebära ett avståndstagande från den etniska identiteten. Det kan trots allt innebära att intervjupersonen lärt sig ursprungslandets språk och besökt landet samt sökt sina rötter, medan en självdefinition som ”både och” kan resultera i att det inte funnits mycket engagemang i ursprunget. Främlingars definition visar att majoriteten av intervjupersonerna anser att de definieras som utlänningar, vilket ungefär hälften upplever som lite frustrerande. De intervjupersoner som är engagerade i sitt etniska ursprung har också haft föräldrar som intresserat dem för det, och de som inte har så stort intresse av sitt ursprung har inte heller haft föräldrar som intresserat dem för det. Resultaten visar dock också en del undantag.  När det kommer till adoptionsföreningarna är de intervjupersoner som är medlemmar i en förening med av olika anledningar som t.ex. behovet av utbyte med likasinnade, kunskaper i ursprungslandets kultur samt möjligheten att ta del av medlemmarnas åsikter av återreseberättelser till ursprungslandet.     Nyckelord:Internationell adoption, identitet, etnisk identitet, ursprung, adoptionsförening
