Abstract:
The telecommunications industry is undergoing a fundamental revolution with the introduction of intelligent networks. In this thesis, we first give an overview of the intelligent network, which includes the review of the motivation, technology, evolution, standards, components and the open issues of the intelligent network. The emphasis of the thesis is put on the intelligent network service creation. Abstract:
This thesis examines the development of banking law against the expeditious development of the technology used in banking systems. Therefore, this study traces and compares the development relating to electronic banking in two different perspectives: first it examines the ongoing development in terms of technology; second it investigates the practical and proposed legal techniques of controlling this rapidly changing field. The thesis traces the development of technical issues that influence banking transactions (including debit and credit cards) and other newly authorised services (like EFTPO

Abstract:
The foundation of modern-day emergency medical service (EMS) systems began in 1966, based on hospital medical care. Demand for evidence to support prehospital practices that have been in existence for the past half-century has continued to grow; yet, researchers have not adequately explored the relationship between the medical certification level of emergency first responders and the amount of time an ambulance spends on the scene. The purpose of this quantitative study was to examine and compare ambulance scene times for emergency responses when basic life support (BLS) certified first respon

Abstract:
Professional and public awareness of the hereditary links between family history and breast cancer have resulted in increasing numbers of referrals to regional genetics centres. In a bid to cope with this increasing demand, the appointment of non-medical genetic counsellors with a background in nursing or science, has become commonplace, despite little or no evidence of their effectiveness or acceptability. The aim was to investigate whether genetic nurse counsellors are as effective as current models of service for familial breast cancer counselling, and to explore factors influencing cost-ef

Abstract:
This research examines the main elements which constitute the 'rural transport problem'. The work focuses on what appears to be a key issue for local government---establishing the level and nature for local public transport. Two possible approaches to the measurement of accessibility need, recently used by an English and a Welsh local authority, are applied to 4 case study areas in Scotland. Each study area has undergone significant service losses as a result of a major bus company rationalisation programme---the Scottish Bus Group's SCOTMAP exercise. A measure of the impact of these losses, i

Abstract:
The World Health Organisation (WHO) defines palliative care as 'an approach that improves the quality of life of patients and their families facing the problem associated with life-threatening illness, through the prevention and relief of suffering by means of early identification and impeccable assessment and treatment of pain and other problems, physical, psychosocial and spiritual.' 1 This includes a wide variety of situations such as chronic illness and end-of-life care. 2 Palliative care is usually performed in-hospital. Background: In the United States, currently about half (49%) of the 6.7 million pregnancies are reported as mistimed or unplanned, and this rate of unintended pregnancy is significantly higher than the rate in most other developed countries. Abortion services are critical to the prevention and management of unintended pregnancies. Abortion in the United States has been legal since the 1973; however this right has little meaning without access to safe abortion care and access is declining. Medication abortion, the use of medications to induce abortion and terminate an early pregnancy, has been
