Abstract:
The current study is the fourth in a series on various components of advisor-advisee communication. In the latest study, the influence of a variety of communication variables on the graduate advisor–advisee interpersonal relationship is examined. Graduate students' perceptions of their graduate advisors' use of humor as it relates to other communication variables (nonverbal immediacy, social support, mentoring, and relationship satisfaction) were investigated. Results revealed a positive, statistically significant relationship between an advisee's perception of his or her advisor's use of humor and that advisee's perception of the advisor's nonverbal immediacy, social support, and mentoring as well as the relationship satisfaction reported by the advisee.Relative Emphasis: theory, research, practice

Abstract:
We examine the extent to which career mentoring and psychosocial mentoring received from their advisors relates to advisee perceptions of advisor–advisee relational uncertainty. Doctoral students (N = 378) completed the Academic Mentoring Behaviors Scale (Schrodt, Cawyer, & Sanders, 2003), the Mentoring and Communication Support Scale (Hill, Bahniuk, Dobos, & Rouner, 1989), and the Relational Uncertainty Scale (Knobloch & Solomon, 1999). The results of a series of Pearson correlational analyses indicate that advisees' reports of received career mentoring and psychosocial mentoring from their advisors are negatively related to their advisor–advisee relational uncertainty. These findings emphasize further the importance of advisors' provision of mentoring support for their advisees.

Abstract:
This research examines the concept of a robo-advisor with digital twin capabilities for personal financial management. Using an exploratory study, the researchers developed an interactive and interpretive model that analyses the most critical variables to consider when designing the next level of financial robo-advisor through integrating digital twin concepts and applications. Primarily, it conducts an assessment and then reviews the data to propose a model that can serve as a baseline for future research. Related literature was explored, including peer-reviewed journal articles, case studies, periodicals, newspaper articles, and books. This study aims to assess the concept of digital twin (DT) as the next frontier of robo-advisor as a new wave of intelligent financial advisors in supporting the personalisation and customisation of financial technology (FinTech) services and management. Individuals who use a DT-enabled robo-advisor may find a significantly greater value for their financial management and well-being. A robo-advisor with DT enabled will no longer be an ad hoc financial advisory service but will evolve into a comprehensive and dynamic financial advisory service for users. The research presents several critical insights on financial robo-advisory with DT capabilities, transforming and optimising smart financial advisory.

Abstract:
This paper considers whether company decisions on their advisors promote efficiency in the market for business advisory services. We employ a fixed effects measure of advisor quality and find that no fine-grained measure of performance seems to influence separation and hiring decisions. We do find that, under a rule of thumb measure of advisor performance, firms are more likely to ditch “bad” and “neutral” advisors than “good” ones. Unfortunately, using the same rule of thumb measure, firms appear no more likely to hire “good” quality new advisors than could be expected by chance. As a result, in less than 10% of all separations, the new hire yields an improvement in advisor quality. In short, there is a substantial amount of movement in the market with no benefit.

Abstract:
The purpose of this qualitative study was to understand how international graduate students in their first-year of doctoral study selected their faculty advisor and how this selection process influenced their advising relationship. Our results found that a majority of students in our sample were assigned to an interim advisor and most reported a positive advising experience. However, disquieting patterns emerged from the data: low frequency of advisor-advisee interaction, occurrences of mismatching between advisor-advisee, and an unknowingness of how to engage with one’s faculty advisor. Our study adds to the literature focusing on international students by shedding a light on nuanced advising experiences of first-year international doctoral students and by providing recommendations for faculty advisors and directors of graduate studies on ways to improve and systematize their advising practices so as to encourage retention and success among international doctoral students.

Abstract:
A policy capturing approach was used to examine the advising variables that contribute to student satisfaction. Students (N = 468) rated 48 scenarios in which advising approach, relationship, advisor gender, emotional nature of the relationship, and type of advisor were manipulated. Results show that being known to the advisor, having a professional advisor, and receiving warmth and support from the advisor were important factors to advisee satisfaction. Ratings differed by student gender, advising experience, and age. Relational variables can exist across multiple advising approaches, and satisfaction likely depends more on the advisor's interpersonal skills and style than advising approach.

"THE POSITION AND THE ROLES OF THE ADVISOR OF THE COURT FOR CHILDREN IN THE JUVENILE JUSTICE SYSTEM IN MALAYSIA: ISSUES AND CHALLENGES." Abstract:
The establishment of the Court for Children in the juvenile justice system is to provide legal protection for children. This court consists of a Magistrate and two advisors which one of them is a woman as provided in section 11 (2) of the Child Act 2001. Basically, the role of the advisor of the Court for Children is to advise the Magistrate relating to the orders (punishment) to be imposed on children who are in conflict with the law and to advise the parents or guardians whenever necessary. However, Section 11 of the Child Act 2001 is the only provision as regards the advisor of the Court for Children in Malaysia. There are no other guidelines or regulations on the mechanism of execution of duties of the advisor, its appointments, and training requirements. Thus, this study aims to identify the issues and challenges relating to the position and roles of the advisor. An analysis is made of legal documents and academic journals. Semi-structured interviews were also conducted with the Social Welfare Department (JKM), Ministry of Women, Family and Community Development (KPWKM), Legal Affairs Division (BHEUU), Prime Minister Department (JPM), and five Children Court advisors (who are representing the urban and rural areas). The study found that the Children Court advisor was recognized in 1947 via the Juvenile Court Act 1947. However, there are several issues and challenges to be addressed including the jurisdiction, governance structure, a mechanism of execution of duties, appointment criteria, the appointment process, modules, and training for Children Court advisors. The absence of guidelines, specific regulations, or manuals has limited the functions and roles of the Children Court advisor. This study suggests a better legal framework for the Children Court advisors to increase their credibility and professionalism. Thus, they can play an effective role in the juvenile justice system in Malaysia.

Abstract:
Academic advisors serve a useful and necessary function in higher education. The nature of the academic advisor's role requires that he or she receive and transmit information concerning advisees. In fulfilling this role, an advisor is often defined by the legal concept of “agent.” This entitles the advisor to specific legal privilege, but it also holds the advisor accountable for actions taken within the scope of his or her employment. Acting beyond this scope could be grounds for personal liability rather than liability as an agent of the college or university. This article outlines the legal parameters that define the liability of an advisor for statements made in transmitting information to or about students.

Abstract:
Higher education (HE) in Kuwait suffers from high dropout rates, and one of the leading causes of this desertion is a lack of academic advising. Effective academic advising systems must fulfill its user’s needs and provide a positive user experience (UX), which allows users to successfully and effectively fulfill their goals. This study used quantitative and qualitative approaches to evaluate an electronic advising system (e-Advisor) used by the Public Authority for Applied Education and Training (PAAET). Survey data from 1,095 PAAET students were analyzed to determine students' perceptions and evaluate their experience using e-Adviser. The findings indicated that students were aware of the features and advantages of e-Advisor. Overall, the participants had a moderately positive impression of e-Advisor’s UX. The system’s attractiveness, efficiency, and perspicuity were rated slightly higher than its dependability, stimulation, and novelty. Moreover, female students’ perceptions of e-Advisors UX were significantly more favorable than their male counterparts.

Abstract:
Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to use psychological theory to improve our understanding of financial advice-taking. The paper studies how a working alliance between financial service customers and advisors affects the advisor's assessment of the financial service buyer's perceived risk preferences, and what role trust plays as a mediating variable. Design/methodology/approach – The paper obtained data by means of a questionnaire that was answered by 375 matched pairs of bank advisors and customers. Findings – This paper explains how the working alliance method – a concept from psychotherapeutic theory – between financial service customers and advisors affects the advisor's understanding of the financial service buyer's perceived risk preferences. The paper also finds that the role of trust is perceived differently by the advisor and the customer. Advisors see that as their clients learn to trust them they lose touch with the customer's perceived risk preferences, whereas customers do not perceive that their trust in the advisor has any relationship to their risk preferences. Practical implications – This results suggest that advisors lose touch with the risk preferences of trusting customers, and that psychological methods are needed if the advisor should actually understand customer perceived risk preferences. Originality/value – The paper advances psychological methods in marketing, and provides a partial answer to the difficulties of financial advice giving.

Abstract:
In the current wave of economic instability, the world is witnessing significanteconomic progress in the sub-Saharan Africa. In this particular part of the worldamong the best performing developing economies, Ethiopia’s progress is con-sidered as an example for achievements in the region in last decade. The gov-ernment of Ethiopia believes in building huge infrastructures in the whole coun-try and especially in the economically vital geographies like the capital AddisAbaba. The project I have proposed aims to contribute to the smooth function-ing of the Addis Light Rail Transit after its launch. This bachelor’s thesis in-tends to design and develop an application based on the technology of web ser-vices for Internet and smart phone users. So the App updates data on the arrivalof a train on a particular station, in the case of unlikely delay the app informsthe users on new schedules. The application provides a functionality to searchfor available upcoming journeys and allows the customers to pay for the jour-ney from the device they are having on their hand. Finally, the project providesinsights on the usability of the implemented applications based on summativeevaluation technique.

Abstract:
AbstractThis chapter presents a fintech-as-a-service (FaaS) solution, which enables financial advisors and wealth and asset managers to provide a “private banking-like service” to the general public. The chapter illustrates all the steps needed to structure this process as an online journey. The solution contains a full end-to-end process which advisors can use to support client advisory meetings and which can potentially also be used directly by the B2C user. To support the advisor accordingly and provide online advisory to the end customer, it is required that highly individual needs are taken into account and that truly individual and personalized portfolio proposals are generated. Traditional portfolio construction methods do not have the actual ability to take a wide range of individual preferences into account. Therefore, a new portfolio construction and optimization methodology based on “genetic algorithms” is being developed and presented in this chapter. The optimization process is built using artificial intelligence approaches. This allows optimization results to be explained based on the selected customer’s preferences. The solution is designed as an open framework, which enables additional fitness factors that represent user preferences in various dimensions to be added on a customized basis.

Abstract:
The paper focuses on regional disparities in ensuring the delegated powers of exercising the rights of Roma minority, specifically on the position of Roma adviser in municipalities with extended powers. Available data, national documents, policy papers are starting point for analysis of changing institutional back-up of the position of Roma adviser as a tool for ensuring the integration of the Roma minority at the regional level. Subsequently, there is a comparison of regional disparities in the positions of Roma advisor at the regional level. Reasons for observed disparities are identified in the persistent legislative vacuum, which arose after the abolition of district councils accompanied by the transfer of the delegated powers of exercising the rights of members of the Roma community to the municipalities with extended powers. Regional authorities are unable to enforce the establishment of the position of Roma advisor in municipalities with extended powers. Therefore, many municipalities prefer to not have any Roma advisor at all, or mostly Roma advisor became part time-job. Sometimes reluctance to ensure the Roma integration agenda by municipalities is on rise, which we can finally be seen on the three main types of argumentation lines used to defend the non-existence of the position of Roma advisor in the administrative architecture of municipalities.

Abstract:
Within the framework of an economic laboratory experiment, we investigate how Algorithm Aversion impedes the establishment of Robo Advisors. The participants have to cope with diversification tasks. They can do this themselves or they can entrust a Robo Advisor with this task. The Robo Advisor evaluates all relevant data and always makes the decision that leads to the highest expected value of compensation for the participant. Although the high performance of the Robo Advisor is obvious, the participants only trust the Robo Advisor in around 40% of all decisions. This reduces their success and their compensation. Many participants are guided by the 1/n heuristic, which contributes to their suboptimal decisions. Insofar as the participants have to decide for others, they noticeably put more effort into it and are also more successful than when they decide for themselves. However, this does not affect the acceptance of the Robo Advisor. Even in the case of proxy decisions, the Robo Advisor is only used in around 40% of cases. The propensity of economic agents towards algorithm aversion stands in the way of a broad establishment of Robo Advisors.
