Full textMilitary problems are very complex and they can be solved by different artificial intelligence techniques. In this thesis, we address the problem of weapon-targets assignment for a frigate. To defend efficiently the ship, we have to analyze each threat and determine which resource assigns against it. For that purpose, we utilize the engageability assessment to consider different characteristics; useful in the resources assignment. To this end, a mathematical model named Constraint Satisfaction Problem (CSP) is employed. This framework allows formalizing the problem to ensure the constraint consistency and to sort threats in importance order. We tried this algorithm on different types of weapon-target assignment problems. Finally, we demonstrate the advantage of engageability assessment on the weapon-target assignment problem in real time and stochastic environment.

Full text"Cyres-Group" is working to improve the response time of his clusters Hadoop and optimize how the resources are exploited in its data center. That is, the goals are to finish work as soon as possible and reduce the latency of each user of the system. Firstly, we decide to work on the scheduling problem in the Hadoop system. We consider the problem as the problem of scheduling a set of jobs on a homogeneous platform. Secondly, we decide to propose tools, which are able to provide more flexibility during the resources management in the data center and ensure the integration of Hadoop in Cloud infrastructures without unacceptable loss of performance. Next, the second level focuses on the review of literature. We conclude that, existing works use simple mathematical models that do not reflect the real problem. They ignore the main characteristics of Hadoop software. Hence, we propose a new model ; we take into account the most important aspects like resources management and the relations of precedence among tasks and the data management and transfer. Thus, we model the problem. We begin with a simplistic model and we consider the minimisation of the Cmax as the objective function. We solve the model with mathematical solver CPLEX and we compute a lower bound. We propose the heuristic "LocFirst" that aims to minimize the Cmax. In the third level, we consider a more realistic modelling of the scheduling problem. We aim to minimize the weighted sum of the following objectives : the weighted flow time ( ∑ wjCj) and the makespan (Cmax). We compute a lower bound and we propose two heuristics to resolve the problem

Full textThe presented work is about optimization of the hospital system. An existing solution is the pooling of resources within the same territory. This may involve different forms of cooperation between several hospitals. Various problems are defined at the decision level : strategic, tactical or operational ; and at the modeling level : macroscopic, mesoscopic and microscopic. Problems of sizing, planning and scheduling may be considered. We define the problem of activities planning with resource allocation. Several cases are dissociated : either human resources are under infinite capacity, or they are under limited capacity and their assignment on a place is given, or they are under limited capacity and their assignment is a variable. These problems are specified and mathematically formalized. All thes problems are compared to a bin packing problem : the classical problem of bin packing is used for the problem where human resources are under infinite capacity, the bin packing problem with interdependencies is used in the two other cases. The bin packing problem with incompatibilities is defined. Many resolution methods have been proposed for the bin packing problem. We make several propositions including a hierarchical coupling between heuristic and metaheuristic. Single based metaheuristics and a population based metaheuristic, the particle swarm optimization, are used. This proposition requires a new encoding inspired by permutation problems. This method gives very good results to solve instances of the bin packing problem. It is easy to apply : it combines already known methods. With the proposed coupling, the new constraints to be considered need to be integrated only on the heuristic level. The running of the metaheuristic is the same. Thus, our method is easily adaptable to the problem of activities planning with resource allocation. For big instances, the solver used as a reference returns only an interval of solutions. The results of our method are once again very promising : the obtained solutions are better than the upper limit returned by the solver. It is possible to adapt our method on more complex issues through integration into the heuristic of the new constraints to consider. It would be particularly interesting to test these methods on real hospital authorities to assess their significance

Full textIn this thesis we consider a class of optimization problems having adistinctive feature : both discrete and continuous decisions need to betaken simultaneously. These problems arise in many practical applications, for example broadband telecommunications and green transportation problems, where resources are available, that can be fractionally consumed or assigned. These problems are proven of being harder than their purely discrete counterpart. We propose effective methodologies to tackle them. Our approach is to consider variants of classical combinatorial optimization problems belonging to three domains : packing, routing, and integrated routing / packing. Our results suggest that indeed effective approaches exist, reducing the computational effort required for solving the problem. Mostly, they arebased on exploiting the structure of optimal solutions to reduce the search space

Full textIn this thesis, we aim at introducing the management of consumable and renewable resources in temporal, parallel and domain-independent planning. As an application of our work, our purpose is to improve the temporal parallel planner named CPT which is not able to manage resources in its original version. In addition, we want to preserve all the original performances of this planner on temporal planning problems. We focus on the total duration of the plan as the optimization criterion. To express resource constrains, we develop a resource-based formalism in relation of the mutual-exclusion-based one introduced by Smith and Weld and used by the CPT planner to express temporal constraints. We propose two different methods to manage resources in the CPT planner: The first one, based on resource links, requires additional resource constraints which must be respected and can resolve temporal planning problems under resources within remarkable search delays. The second one is based on synchronization actions; it is less restrictive than the first method but it requires many additional propagation rules to speed up the search process. In many cases, the synchronization actions-based method finds temporal optimal parallel plans with better quality than the ones found by the resource links-based method
