Die ,,Beziehung der Kopräsenz“1, um Genette zu paraphrasieren, lässt sich in zahlreichen Texten rekonstruieren. Betrachtet man einige Werke näher, so lassen sich die Spuren vorausgegangener Texte in der Regel leicht ausfindig machen. Sowohl in formalästhetischer als auch in inhaltlicher Hinsicht (Themen, Motive) ergeben sich verschiedene Muster dieser intertextuellen Beziehung.

Abstract This article examines the reception of Heliodor’s Aethiopica in German novels around 1700. The ‘Heliodor model’ proves to be remarkably persistent, as the form’s specific affordances offer an attractive variety of possible uses. At the same time, writers stick to the legitimized form of the novel for reasons of genre politics. In analyzing Eberhard W. Happel’s Afrikanischer Tarnolast (1689) and August Bohse’s Letztes Liebes- und Heldengedichte (1706), the article shows how these exemplary novels transform the ‘Heliodor model’ in idiosyncratic ways, and argues that these transformations aim at exploring and expanding the potential of literary characters.

Lange Zeit schien der Kolonialismus im Geschichtsbewusstsein der Deutschen eine nebengeordnete bzw. beiläufige Rolle zu spielen und die Beteiligung Deutschlands am Kolonialprozess wurde wenig Achtung geschenkt. Erst die Entstehung einer schwarzafrikanischen postkolonialen Literatur in Deutschland hat dazu beigetragen, die Kolonialerfahrung als gemeinsames Erbe zwischen Deutschen und Afrikanern sichtbar zu machen. Im Mittelpunkt von Texten afrikanischer Autoren in deutscher Sprache steht das Zurückschauen auf vergangene Ereignisse, die aus verschiedenen Perspektiven thematisiert werden. Der vorliegende Beitrag untersucht am Beispiel von zwei kamerunischen Texten die Erinnerung an die deutsche Kolonialvergangenheit. Diese postkoloniale Aufarbeitung der Kolonialerinnerung, wie sie von Daniel Mepin und Philomène Atyame dargestellt wird, kreist um Vergangenheitsbewältigung und gegenseitige Kulturannäherung. Um dieses Ziel zu erreichen, bieten Jan und Aleida Assmann mit dem Begriff „Kulturgedächtnis“ theoretische Grundlagen, die meine Überlegung plausibler machen können.

In den letzten Jahrzehnten veränderte sich das Konsummuster tiefgreifend. Darauf Bezug nehmend wird hier ein Überblick über den Zusammenhang von Khatkonsum und Psychosen gegeben. Ergebnisse: Mehrere Falldarstellungen aber nur wenige Gruppen- und Populationsstudien behandeln das Thema. Sie sind insgesamt inkonsistent, haben methodische Probleme, berichten oft nur qualitative Ergebnisse und behandeln wichtige Fragen nicht. Schlussfolgerungen: Obwohl Khatkonsum häufig mit Psychosen in Zusammenhang gebracht wird, gibt es nur wenige fundierte Studien. Gesicherte Erkenntnisse sind z. B., dass exzessiver Khatgenuss zu kurzdauernden Psychosen führen kann und dass vulnerablen Personen vom Khatkonsum abgeraten werden sollte. Unklar bleibt die Richtung des Zusammenhangs zwischen Khatkonsum und unspezifischer Psychopathologie. Quantitative, kontrollierte Längsschnittstudien sind erforderlich, um psychiatrische Konsequenzen zu verstehen, und inwieweit Khat mit der Entwicklung von langdauernden Psychosen und ihrem Verlauf zusammenhängt.

Gerade wenn es der Wahrheit entsprechen sollte, dass die Bearbeitung eines von der Associated Press verbreiteten Fotos ausschließlich ästhetische Zwecke verfolgte, wäre das Wegretuschieren der ugandischen Klimaaktivistin Vanessa Nakate aus dem Gruppenbild, das sie auf dem Weltwirtschaftsforum in Davos zusammen mit vier weißen Mitkämpferinnen zeigt, ein Paradebeispiel von Alltagsrassismus.1 Dass westliche Medien auf dem afrikanischen Auge häufig blind sind, zeigt auch die ebenfalls von AP nach dem Absturz der Ethiopian Airlines Maschine im März 2019 verbreitete Twittermeldung, in der zwar eine Reihe von nord-amerikanischen, europäischen und asiatischen Nationaltäten aufgezählt werden, die größte betroffene Gruppe aus 32 Kenianerinnen und Kenianern aber keine Erwähnung findet.2 Diese Form der Diskriminierung ist gerade deshalb so gefährlich, weil die ihm zugrunde liegenden rassistischen Denkmuster so tief verwurzelt sind, dass sie unsere Wahrnehmung der Welt ganz unbemerkt beeinflussen. Dies führt dann z.B. dazu, dass in Deutschland geborene und/oder aufgewachsene People of Color, deren Sprache sich bis hin zur dialektalen Färbung in nichts von der ihrer Umgebung unterscheidet, ständig nach ihrer Herkunft gefragt werden, weil sie äußerlich nicht dem Stereotyp eines/einer Biodeutschen entsprechen. Ganz stereotyp verlaufen dagegen die entsprechenden Dialoge wie zahlreiche Betroffene – so, um nur einige wenige Beispiele zu nennen, die Dichterin und Aktivistin May Ayim, der Kabarettist und Schauspieler Marius Jung und die Publizistin Ferda Ataman – übereinstimmend beschreiben, denn Antworten wie Ich bin aus Deutschland, Castrop-Rauxel oder Gostenhof werden nicht akzeptiert, sondern durch die nachgeschobene Standardfrage nach der eigentlichen Herkunft beiseite gewischt, die dann oft mit der Frage nach der Rückkehr in die vermeintliche Heimat verbunden wird. Mitten aus dem Leben gegriffene Erfahrungen dieser Art macht auch der in Deutschland geborene, aber in London lebende Gabriel, einer der beiden Protagonisten in Jackie Thomaes Roman Brüder, denn sein Vater stammt aus dem Senegal:

Comparative-historical Afro-Asiatic linguistics has undergone a significant development over the past half century, since the appearence Essai comparatif sur le vocabulaire et la phonétique du chamitosémitique (1947) by Marcel Cohen. This revolutionary and fundamental synthesis concluded the second great period of the comparative research on Afro-Asiatic lexicon (the so-called “old school”, cf. E DE I 2-4). During the third period (second half of the 20th century), whose beginning was hallmarked by the names of J .H. Greenberg and I.M. Diakonoff, an enormous quantity of new lexical material (both descriptive and comparative) has been published, including a few most recent attempts (either unfinished or rather problematic) at compiling an Afro-Asiatic compartive dictionary (SISAJ a I-III, H CVA I-V, H SED, Ehret 1995). During my current work on the Etymological Dictionary of Egyptian (Leiden, since 1999-, E .J. Brill), Ihave collected a great number of new AA parallels, which - to the best of my knowledge - have not yet been proposed in the literature (I did my best to note it wherever Inoticed an overlapping with the existing Afro-Asiatic dictionaries). Along the E DE project (and the underlying “Egyptian etymological word catalogue”), Ihave started collecting AA roots (not attested in Egyptian) for a separate Afro- Asiatic root catalogue in late 1999.1 The series Lexica Afroasiatica started in 20022 in order to contribute to the existing and published materials of comparative Afro-Asiatic lexicon with new lexical correspondences observed recently during my work, which may later serve as basis of a new synthesis of the Afro-Asiatic comparative lexicon. The present part of this series is a collection of new Afro-Asiatic etymologies with the Proto-Afro- Asiatic initial bilabial nasal (*m-), which results directly from my research at Institut für Afrikanische Sprachwisenschaften of Frankfurt a/M (in 1999-2000 and 2002) guided by Prof. H . Jungraithmayr.3 The numeration of the etymological entries is continuous beginning from the first part of the series Lexica Afroasiatica. Each entry is headed by the proposed PAA root (as tentatively reconstructed by myself). Author names are placed after the quoted linguistic forms in square brackets [] mostly in an abbreviated form (a key can be found at the end of the paper). The lexical data in the individual lexicon entries have been arranged in the order of the current classification of the Afro-Asiatic daughter languages (originating from J.H. Greenberg 1955, 1963 and I.M. Diakonoff 1965) in 5 (or 6) equivalent branches: (1) Semitic, (2) Egyptian, (3) Berber, (4) Cushitic, (5) Omotic (cometimes conceived as West Cushitic), (6) Chadic. For a detailed list of all daughter languages cf. E DE I 9-34. The number of vertical strokes indicate the closeness of the language units from which data are quoted: ||| separate branches (the 6 largest units within the family), || groups (such as East vs. South Cushitic or West vs. East Chadic), while | divides data from diverse sub-groups (e.g., Angas-Sura vs. North Bauchi within West Chadic). Since we know little about the Proto-Afro-Asiatic vowel system, the proposed list of the reconstructed Proto-Afro-Asiatic forms is arranged according to consonantal roots (even the nominal roots). Sometimes, nevertheless, it was possible to establish the root vowel, which is given in the paper additionally in brackets. The lexical parallels suggested herein, are based on the preliminary results in reconstructing the consonant correspondences achieved by the Russian team of I.M. Diakonoff (available in a number of publications4) as well as on my own observations refining the Russian results (most importantly Takács 2001). The most important results can be summarized as follows. The labial triad *b - *p - *f remained unchanged in Egyptian, South Cushitic, and Chadic, while the dental series *d - *t - *s was kept as such by Semitic and South Cushitic (AA *s continued as *T in Berber, Cushitic and Chadic, and it was merged into t vs. d in Egyptian). The fine distinction of the diverse sibilant affricates and spirants (AA *c, *μ, *@, *s, *D, *¸, *E, *b, *ĉ, *H, *ŝ) was best preserved in Semitic, South Cushitic and West Chadic (while some of these phonemes suffered a merger in other branches and groups). The Russian scholars assumed a triad of postvelar (uvulear) stops with a voiceless spirant counterpart: *-, *", *q, and *¯, the distinction of which was retained in Cushitic and Chadic, but was merged into *¯ in Semitic and Egyptian. In a number of cases, however, it is still difficult to exactly reconstruct the root consonants on the basis of the available cognates (esp. when these are from the modern branches, e.g., Berber, Cushitic-Omotic, or Chadic). In such cases, the corresponding capitals are used (denoting only the place of articulation).

Zusammenfassung:Die afrikanische Oralliteratur zeichnet sich traditionell gesehen durch verschiedene Ausdrucksformen wie Sprichwörter, Volkslieder, Rätsel, Epen, Sagen, Mythen, Legenden und hauptsächlich durch das mündlich überlieferte Märchen aus. Unter diesen Ausdrucksformen, die im Allgemeinen als Gattungen der oralen Literatur bezeichnet werden, nahm das Märchen bei der Volksgruppe der Fon in Benin eine führende Stelle ein. Es wurde über Generationen hinweg in den Familien und speziell bei den Erzählabenden auf den Dorfplätzen durch professionelle Erzähler mündlich tradiert und gehörte als immaterielles Erbe der Vorfahren und aufgrund der von ihm vermittelten Werte zum Alltagsleben der Menschen. Der Beitrag zeigt in erster Linie, wie die Bestimmung des Begriffs Märchen bei den Fon für Verwirrung sorgt. Er verdeutlicht, wie sich das Märchen aus afrikanischer Perspektive nicht so scharf von den anderen Gattungen der Oralliteratur abhebt, wie es im europäischen Kontext der Fall ist. Ferner hebt diese Abhandlung hervor, wie das lange erhaltene, mündlich tradierte Märchenerzählen in den letzten Jahrzehnten in Benin große Veränderungen durchlaufen hat, und stellt die konkreten Hintergründe heraus, die diesem Umbruch zugrunde liegen. Zum Schluss lenkt sie das Augenmerk auf die Zukunft des Märchenerzählens in Benin.
