Until a recently perceived surge in delinquency, Asian or Pacific Islander (API) youth appeared to be relatively protected from negative developmental outcomes such as delinquency, school failure, and teen pregnancy. However, the increasing rate of API youth entering the juvenile justice system has sparked more in-depth consideration of delinquency in the API population. This article describes relevant characteristics of the predominantly API youth detained in Hawaii’s only youth detention facility and examines their recidivism rate after release.

The purpose of this study is to look into and examine the ways that instructors might use to manage pupil discipline in secondary schools in Namibia's Hardap region. In this investigation, a qualitative case study design was used. Six secondary schools provided information. Data for this study was acquired from 24 participating teachers at six secondary schools via semi-structured individual interviews and an open-ended questionnaire. Beginning in 2014, increasing numbers of unaccompanied immigrant children (UIC) arrived and were apprehended at the United States-Mexico border. These children were fleeing violence, poverty, environmental disasters, as well as state-sanctioned violence and political instability influenced by interventions and support from the U.S. government spanning several decades. The purpose of this article was to examine the factors that shape the educational experiences of UIC in the United States during and after detention. Abstract Background Human rights watchdogs have described conditions in Nigerian correctional facilities and detention centers as damaging to the physical and mental health of inmates. While the prevalence of mental disorders is high, access to appropriate healthcare is grossly inadequate. Understanding the current state of prison inmates’ mental health and well-being is an essential first step to addressing this important issue. This study aims to document the mental health and experiences of incarceration of inmates of the largest medium security prison in Nigeria’s Benue State. Methods A cr

Introduction: The number of children and young people being taken into care and placed in out-of-home care has been increasing in Germany for years - despite or perhaps because of child protection reforms. Child protection is always questioned when cases of child abuse become public. Child protection without taking children into care is hard to imagine. Child protection can be violated through unjustified detention. This usually receives little attention. Methodology: Examination of the keywords “taking into care”, “out-of-home care”, “effect” and “side effects” of “taking into care” by the “Y

To coalesce politically is to join together whilst retaining singularity. This is the aim of much contemporary social movement activism, marked most consistently under the sign of the global justice movement – the movement ‘for humanity and against neoliberalism’, as a common slogan goes. This movement regularly writes itself as one composed of diversity and a commitment to horizontal power relations. Within this, the discourse of the movement demonstrates a particular consciousness around privilege and oppression (Starr 95-97). The demands, in this regard, on a coalescence that brings togethe
