Abstract:
Abstract The behavioral agency theory verifies the relationship between company executives, CEOs, and managers, and their decision-making within the firm. The mechanisms of governance and the forms of remuneration are instruments that monitor internal members avoiding risks that potentially harm the organization’s valuation. This article highlights the importance of the behavioral agency theory both for firms that trust their decision-making process to an agent and for the behavior of this agent. Both aspects are subject to concerns that usually lead to recommendations to establish or improve the executives’ compensation plans. Through bibliometric research analyzing 107 articles, it was possible to verify that executives’ performance compensation, according to agency theory, is the most used mechanism to stimulate executives to make decisions toward the company’s growth and best performance. This study’s theoretical and empirical contribution point to the need for future research on this topic since understanding the agent’s behavior is strategic for companies to help the agent to act on its benefit while reducing the possibilities of inadequate and harmful behavior.

Abstract:
A culturally based socio-cognitive agency generic model is developed. The agency has a normative personality with an values/beliefs indicated by its formative traits. These can take bi-polar epistemic values (“enantiomers”). These may be combined together, giving 8 different cognitive types that are personality type mind-sets. These types are influenced by the culture and the social environment that the agency is bound to. The traits can be used to explain the what, why and how of dynamic agency behaviour in complex situations.

Abstract:
Hate speech is any form of expression that vilifies and discriminates against individuals or groups based on their identity, including race, ethnicity, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, religion, and more. However, hate speech is not merely an emotional expression; it can often be intertwined with fake news and logical reasoning that appears convincing. This article explores Judith Butler's theories on hate speech, how she resists it, and how to draw a good life out of a bad life. Firstly, it examines the limitations of the traditional dichotomy between reason and emotion and how it relates to issues such as hate speech, fake news, and post-truth. Secondly, it analyzes hate speech as either an illocutionary or perlocutionary speech act, and reviews legal cases related to hate speech in the USA through Judith Butler's Excitable Speech(1997). Thirdly, it explores Butler's analysis of Freud's work in The Force Of Nonviolence(2020), including his ideas about the importance of emotional ties and communities of feeling, and how he aimed to overcome blind fury in his later years. The article also discusses how Butler supplements Freud's unfinished research and extends his ideas beyond their original limits. Finally, the implications of these attempts for Korean society, which is currently grappling with the problem of hate speech, are examined in the last section.

This article intends to review the theoretical aspects and empirical evidences made on agency theory. It is aimed to explore the main ideas, perspectives, problems and issues related to the agency theory through a literature survey. It discusses the theoretical aspects of agency theory and the various concepts and issues related to it and documents empirical evidences on the mechanisms that diminish the agency cost. The conflict of interest and agency cost arises due to the separation of ownership from control, different risk preferences, information asymmetry and moral hazards. The literatures have cited many solutions like strong ownership control, managerial ownership, independent board members and different committees can be useful in controlling the agency conflict and its cost. This literature survey will enlighten the practitioners and researchers in understanding, analysing the agency problem and will be helpful in mitigating the agency problem.

Abstract:
Agency theory has focused attention on the role conflict between the interests of managers and owners plays in a firms’ financial performance. It could be claimed that the management buy-out is the most effective weapon in the war against agency problems. This paper investigates the reasons behind the continuing popularity of buy-out funds and how they generate superior financial performance by aligning the interest of managers and investors. It follows the buy-out market from its origins to the present, and points to pitfalls for investors in a market that is now reaching maturity. In particular the popularity of buy-out funds as an investment choice has led to an oversupply of funding and signs are emerging that the market has become overheated. Deals are being done that lack the characteristics that are indicative of successful buy-out performance due to agency problems inherent in the way that buy-out funds are remunerated.

Abstract:
Purpose By revisiting the agency theory literature, this paper aims to both incrementally advance historical viewpoints and reveal four prominent influences on agency theory: Weber and Simon, The Great Depression, Cooperation and the Chicago School. This is critical given that understanding the history behind the authors’ major theoretical lenses is fundamental to using these theories to explain various phenomena. Design/methodology/approach Drawing on a plethora of archival sources and following the influence-mapping approach used by other management history scholars, this manuscript synthesizes historical accounts and archival information to provide a clearer picture of the major historical influences in the formation of agency theory. Findings We shed light on four areas related to management history that helped propel agency theory. Whereas past scholarship has not recognised them as influencers, we find and show how the industrial revolution, unionization, the stock exchange and other management approaches all played a role in the development of agency theory’s core tenants. Originality/value We extend upon the influential people and events that shaped agency theory, thus providing a fuller understanding of the theory’s usefulness. Moreover, we fill in gaps enabling scholars to better understand the context in which the core tenants of agency theory were developed.

Abstract:
Abstract: Every month, there are headlines concerning scams on famous online sites. Due to the ease with which scams may be spread, they have become one of the most popular crimes worldwide, inflicting significant emotional, financial, and psychological consequences on millions of people. Despite their significant and pervasive influence, we seem to know very little about why some people fall prey to scams while others remain immune to the strategies used by scammers to entice potential victims. For example, research on the impact of demographic traits (e.g., age) as well as psychological variables (e.g., risktaking) on individuals' vulnerability to scams has yielded inconsistent results. Even little is known about how the type or character of a scam influences a person's susceptibility. Gaining a better knowledge of these issues is essential for developing preventive programs and lowering the occurrence of victimization. We highlight potential interesting directions, present knowledge gaps, and the necessity for decision scientists to solve this crucial challenge.

Abstract:
This paper examines relevancy of corporate financial policies and documents similarities and/or differences of how profit maximization goal is viewed by Islamic banking institutions (IBIs). Management of the firm is ultimately responsible for maximizing profits and increasing shareholder value, however this challenging task may get plagued by agency problems as well corporate financial policy conflicts. Agency problem is real and it is assumed to occur in most companies worldwide. However, the theory’s controversial nature and its narrow focus have not really convinced many scholars whether agency theory in fact provides any broad benefits to firm’s stakeholders or not. Scholars seem to be divided into two camps on agency theory. Some authors think that agency theory pays too much attention to short-term goal of share price valuation and it hardly provides any real answers to firm’s real problems. On the other hand, some proponents of this theory believe agency theory’s useful impact on capital markets.

Abstract:
The article aims to integrate agency theory, stewardship theory and intellectual capital in minimizing agencies conflict. The theories were approached by identifying organizational principles according to perspective of shareholders, then comparison of applications of agency theory, stewardship theory and intellectual capital contributing to the principal relationship with the agent in minimizing agencies conflict in order to contribute to enhancement of corporate value was discussed and empirical studies on perspectives of agency, stewardship and intellectual capital perspective specialized in human capital and structural capital were examined. The deep study of the theories concluded, it is necessary to integrate agency theory and stewardship theory and intellectual capital in effort of minimizing agencies conflict and enhancing corporate value. Further, it can be suggested that perspective of agency theory explains the importance of multi-principles framework, with perspectives of stewardship theory and intellectual capital showing a situation in which agent has the same interest as principle or to be motivated to make action for the sake of the best interest of the principal in minimizing agencies conflict and enhancing value of the company. Empirical literature can add more thoughts on agency issues integrated with stewardship theory and intellectual capital that can contribute to the study of the issues.

Abstract:
Material ecocriticism heeds matter as a text, and traces natural-cultural interactions by reading them as material narratives. According to this, all bodies are living texts that recount stories. All material bodies embody their memory of social and physical experiences, integrating their ongoing process of becoming. The intra-actions between human interpreter and material textuality are significant since material narratives are conveyed in nonlinguistic ways. This paper aims to explore how the narrative agency of matter and human creativity, intra-acting, coemerge in new levels of reality, that is, how the stories of matter and bodies are interpreted and translated with the intervention of human imagination, so that human and nonhuman, reality and text are creatively becoming together. In this narrative, the interpreter and the interpreted emerge together, in intra-action. This study demonstrates that translation is not simply epistemological practice but ontological performance which is part of the differential constitution of reality, and translation is the condition and task of all beings, although there is the untranslatable in the story of matter, referring to Ricoeur and Derrida. First, it examines how fossil collector Mary Anning discovers the fossil of an ichthyosaur, which, intra-acting with the interpretation of Anning and geologists, produces new meanings. Second, by reading Woolf’s “On Being Ill” and Mol’s The Body Multiple, it maintains that interpretation and translation are material-discursive medical practice and ontological performance which participate in bodily production, and the narratives of female bodies should be actively and carefully translated.
