This thesis examines the relationship between the age structure of the workforce, labor productivity and wages at the firm level, using a longitudinal employer employee dataset from Portugal for the period 2004-2018. It finds that labor productivity increases until the age of 55-59, whereas wages are ever increasing with age. This result is mainly driven by firms with a more skilled labor force, as less skill intensive firms show no significant increase in productivity from the age of 35-39. The relationship between age and productivity is positive among firms in technology intensive sectors,
