Abstract:
Background: Obesity is an ongoing problem in the developed countries and it’s a new and growing problem in the developing countries. This study aimed to assess the knowledge and perception on obesity among female aged 18 years. Methods: The study is a descriptive cross-sectional research design on 186 students of UEAB in 2017. In order to collect the data was used a self-administered questionnaire, which will be used to measure the knowledge level and perception to gather factual information about the respondents. This questionnaire will involve a set of closed-ended questions. The data were analysed using SPSS 23. The researchers used descriptive statistics including mean, median and mode. Results: The knowledge on obesity, it was found that most of the participants have heard of obesity and they term it as the excessive fat accumulation to body. Participants also indicated that they knew the causes of obesity and in degrees of whether they agree or disagree, indicated that they strongly agreed and agreed that consumption of junk foods and lack of physical exercise caused obesity and they agreed that family history may also cause obesity. The perception on obesity, participants viewed obesity to be average among undergraduate ladies residing in ladies’ dorm. It was also revealed that 7.5 percent of the participants think they are obese and they are unsatisfied with their body weights. Conclusions: The study exposes the lack of knowledge regarding obesity. However, perceptions of the participants were promising. This is because nearly all of them felt those who are not obese should be encouraged to maintain their weight and the overweight people should lose weight or be treated to achieve medical benefit.

Abstract:
A generation ago scientific ideas floated free in the air, as historians gazed up at them in wonder and admiration. From time to time, historians agreed, the ideas that made up the body of scientific truth became incarnate: they were embedded into the fleshly forms of human culture and attached to particular times and places. How this incarnation occurred was a great mystery. How could spirit be made flesh? How did the transcendent and the timeless enter the forms of the mundane and the contingent? Platonist and providentialist perspectives offered ways of speaking about the mystery, but, in general, it remained unresolved at the core of orthodox idealist historiography.1

Abstract:
Abstract The term ‘worldviews’ is employed across disciplinary boundaries, yet with no agreed definition it may actually obscure rather than clarify meaning. The use of the term has grown in frequency, particularly in Religious Education (RE) in England, since the Commission on RE’s final report (2018), which recommended changing the name of RE to ‘Religion and worldviews’. Response to the report has been mixed. Some fear that an introduction of worldviews may lead to a dilution of RE and overburden an already overstretched teaching profession; others welcome a meaningful study of non-religious worldviews which they view as more pertinent in the current growth of ‘nones’ (Nones’ term used for those who adhere to ‘no faith’, see Woodhead (J Br Acad 4:245–261, 2016)) in England. Teaching worldviews raises questions of selection: are all worldviews equally appropriate for pupils to study and consistent with the aims of education? For example, is it appropriate for a 6 year old to study Hedonism or National Socialism? This paper problematizes the binary nature of the debate and interrogates the usage of the term 'worldviews'. Focusing on ‘institutional worldviews’ is questionable as the role of master narratives, embedded in these, lose currency. The ‘disintegration of master narratives’, (Riessman in Narrative Methods for the Human Sciences. SAGE Publications, Thousand Oaks, 2008, p. 17), has led to a rise in individuals creating their personal embodied worldviews, albeit subconsciously. Rather than consider worldviews as a discrete body of knowledge that imposes on an already overburdened curriculum, I propose that employing worldviews as an overarching concept, providing a type of paradigmatic analysis for RE, may lead to a greater and more profound understanding of religion(s).

Abstract:
Background Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) is a commonly seen comorbidity in patients undergoing endoscopic skull base surgery and its presence may influence perioperative decision-making. Current practice patterns for preoperative screening of OSA are poorly understood. Objective The objective of this study was to assess how endoscopic skull base surgeons screen for OSA, and how knowledge of OSA affects perioperative decision-making. Methods Seven question survey distributed to members of the North American Skull Base Society. Results Eighty-eight responses (10% response rate) were received. 60% of respondents were from academic centers who personally performed >50 cases per year. Most respondents noted that preoperative knowledge of OSA and its severity affected postoperative care and increased their concern for complications. Half of respondents noted that preoperative knowledge of OSA and its severity affects intraoperative skull base reconstruction decision-making. 70% of respondents did not have a preoperative OSA screening protocol. Body mass index and patient history were most frequently used by those who screened. Validated screening questionnaires were rarely used. 76% of respondents agreed or somewhat agreed that a preoperative polysomnogram should ideally be performed for patients with suspected OSA; however, 50% of respondents reported that <20% of their patients with suspected OSA are advised to obtain a preoperative polysomnogram. Conclusion This study reveals that most endoscopic skull base surgeons agree that OSA affects postoperative patient care, but only a minority have a preoperative screening protocol in place. Additional study is needed to assess the most appropriate screening methods and protocols for OSA patients undergoing endoscopic skull base surgery.

Abstract:
Abstract Owls are considered as dominant predators for control of rats and mice population in agricultural fields and presently their populations are continuously declining in Punjab, Pakistan. The present study was aimed to assess the knowledge and attitude of people of rural and urban areas about the declining trend of owls. During this survey, more than 1600 people were asked to collect information regarding the owl populations from six localities including Faisalabad, Sialkot, Jhang, Lahore and Bahawalnagar. Four parameters were the major part of the questionnaire: familiarity, misconceptions, awareness about owls and their acceptance as a biological controlling agent. The results revealed that about 95% of people were familiar with owls in the agro-ecosystem. Only 15.6% of people thought that owls should be eliminated; 23.0% were of the opinion that owl’s presence in a locality leads to ruination; 33.3% agreed that the owls presence was a sign of bad omen; 41.8% considered them as signs of foolishness; 47.0% believed that owl’s body parts were used for black magic purposes. In contrast, 50% of people acknowledged that owls are beneficial to humans; 60.3% knew that owls are the enemies of rodents, 67.7% agreed that they are suppressors of rats and mice and 63.8% agreed that artificial nest boxes can serve as their nests and roosts. It was encouraging to know that 74.8% showed their willingness to enhance the owl’s population on their farms, and 74.0% were willing to permit the installation of nest boxes in or near the villages. The study of attitudes of respondents towards owl will help to develop an effective conservation strategy and to boost owl’s population in croplands for biological control of rats and mice.

Abstract:
Malnutrition has a multifactorial origin and can be caused by cancer. This study determined the consensus of a panel of experts on the nutritional approach for cancer patients in Spain using a multidisciplinary approach. Using the Delphi methodology, a 74-question questionnaire was prepared and sent to 46 experts. The areas of knowledge addressed were the nutritional status of the cancer patient, nutritional screening, nutritional therapy, patient referral, and multidisciplinary care. A total of 91.7% of the experts agreed with the questions posed on nutritional status, 60.0% with those on nutritional screening, 76.7% with those on nutritional therapy, and the entire panel of experts agreed with the questions posed on patient referral and multidisciplinary care. The experts agreed upon a high prevalence of malnutrition among cancer patients in Spain. Unlike medical and radiation oncologists, medical nutrition specialists believe that body composition assessment should not be carried out in all types of cancer patients during nutritional screening and that interventions can be conducted outside the oncology clinic. In general, it is recommended that nursing staff routinely perform nutritional screening before starting cancer treatment. It is necessary to develop a multidisciplinary action protocol that includes nutritional and/or sarcopenia screening.

Abstract:
Introduction. Cadaveric dissection is an established effective teaching method in anatomical science education. Cadaver acquisition for dissection is, however, based on voluntary body bequeathment. As a result of the increasing numbers of medical schools and student intake, the challenges of inadequate bodies for education became obvious in most parts of the world as the main cadaver source remains anonymous corpses in the custody of the state. Cultural and religious beliefs or commercial purposes are among the several factors that influence the decision about body bequeathal. This study investigates the knowledge, attitude, and perceptions of body bequeathing among health science students who benefitted or are potential beneficiaries of cadaveric studies and identified factors influencing the bequest of bodies in Ghana for educational purposes among students in the University of Health and Allied Sciences. Method. This was a cross-sectional descriptive study. The study recruited 513 students in the bachelor programs in medicine, physician assistantship, nursing, midwifery, pharmacy, and allied health sciences at various levels. Both closed- and open-ended questions contained in the designed questionnaire were administered. Result. About 74.1% of the respondents had heard of body bequeathal. Majority (98.3%) agreed body bequeathal was important. However, only 39.6% knew the requirements and processes of body bequeathal. Most (>90%) had a negative attitude toward body bequeathal. Conclusion. The study concluded that there was a high awareness of the importance of body bequeathal for medical education and research but very low procedural knowledge on bequeathing, amongst health science students. Moreover, most were unwillingness to donate their bodies or even encourage others to donate their bodies. It is, therefore, recommended that medical schools should setup accessible body bequeathal programs that provide opportunities for interested individuals to be readily assisted through the process of body bequeathal.

Abstract:
The antimalarial hydroxychloroquine (HCQ) has demonstrated several crucial properties for the treatment of systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). Herein, we reviewed the main HCQ pharmacologic features, detailed its mechanism of action, and summarized the existing guidelines and recommendations for HCQ use in rheumatology with a systematic literature search for the randomized controlled trials focused on lupus. HCQ has been shown to decrease SLE activity, especially in mild and moderate disease, to prevent disease flare and to lower the long-term glucocorticoid need. The numerous benefits of HCQ are extended to pregnancy and breastfeeding period. Based on cohort studies, antithrombotic and metabolic HCQ’s effects were shown, including lipid-lowering properties, which might contribute to an improved cardiovascular risk. Moreover, early HCQ use in antinuclear antibodies positive individuals might delay the progression to SLE. Finally, HCQ has a significant favorable impact on long-term outcomes such as damage accrual and mortality in SLE. Based on these multiple benefits, HCQ is now the mainstay long-term treatment in SLE, recommended by current guidelines in all patients unless contraindications or side effects. The daily dose associated with the best compromise between efficacy and safety is matter of debate. The concern regarding retinal toxicity rather than proper efficacy data is the one that dictated the daily dosage of ⩽5 mg/kg/day actual body weight currently agreed upon.

Abstract:
As sports scientists, we claim to make a significant contribution to the body of knowledge that influences athletic practice and performance. Is this the reality? At the inaugural congress of the Australian Association for Exercise and Sports Science, a panel of well-credentialed academic experts with experience in the applied environment debated the question, Does sports-science research influence practice? The first task was to define “sports-science research,” and it was generally agreed that it is concerned with providing evidence that improves sports performance. When practices are equally effective, sports scientists also have a role in identifying practices that are safer, more time efficient, and more enjoyable. There were varying views on the need for sports-science research to be immediately relevant to coaches or athletes. Most agreed on the importance of communicating the results of sports-science research, not only to the academic community but also to coaches and athletes, and the need to encourage both short- and long-term research. The panelists then listed examples of sports-science research that they believe have influenced practice, as well as strategies to ensure that sports-science research better influences practice.

Abstract:
Introduction: Diabetes is a chronic condition that can affect the entire body. There is no doubt that the prevalence of diabetes mellitus has been increasing worldwide. This study investigated the knowledge and attitude on diabetes mellitus (DM) among residents of Jos metropolis, Plateau State, Nigeria. Five research objectives were outlined to identify the causes of DM in Jos metropolis, to examine the effects of diabetes mellitus in Jos, to interrogate the level of knowledge of diabetes in Jos, and proffer recommendation and suggestions on how the challenges of diabetes can be addressed. Methodology: Data were collected both qualitatively and quantitatively using questionnaire, and Focus Group Discussion (FGD). 420 respondents were sampled using multi stage and simple random sampling technique, the data analyzed was based on 393 questionnaires retrieved from the field and presented according to the study objectives. The key informants were purposely selected for the Focus Group Discussion. An FGD guide was used for the research. Results: 94.8% of the respondents agreed that they were knowledgeable of diabetes mellitus and have ideas of the possible causes of diabetes. Majority of the respondents (60.7%) agreed that diabetes is a genetic disease, some indicated that it is a nutritional disease. 247 (62.8%) indicated that people between the ages of forty to sixty years are more likely to contract diabetes, 28 (7.1%) of the respondents indicated that aged people of seventy years and above are more likely to be diabetic. While 89 (22.6%) of the respondents indicated that people of all age categories can suffer diabetes mellitus. Conclusion: Factors militating against the effective treatment of diabetes in Jos metropolis are stigmatization of diabetic patients, poor access to healthcare facilities and low level of awareness by residents on DM. The study established that when people are knowledgeable of the causes, effects and remedy of diabetes mellitus, the rate of the disease will be reduced to the lowest minimum. The study recommends that there should be awareness among the health workers and training health professionals on nutrition and diabetes as may enhance quality healthcare delivery in the nearest future.

Abstract:
Selective exposure is a phenomenon studied by scholars for decades. Its prominence can be explained by certain potential consequences for democratic societies which include polarization and growing support for extreme views. The media selective exposure approach generated hundreds of publications, however, this growth in new facts and information does not seem to advance much of a paradigmatic consensus on theoretical foundations and practical utility of this line of research. This article aims at assessing whether the key concepts and models of selective exposure represent a cohesive body of knowledge empowering researchers. It also encourages them to seek new knowledge, and test new links. Researchers can also evaluate whether there are some controversial or not sufficiently explicated elements requiring reassessment. This article is a modest effort to assess what is really known and agreed upon in such important pillars of any theory such as definitions and models of selective exposure. This piece also suggests which aspects of selective exposure may need further clarification.

Abstract:
Body Dysmorphic Disorder (BDD) is defined as a constant obsession with one’s external appearance and flaws, and it falls under the criteria of neuropsychiatric disorders. Individuals suffering from this disorder may seek unnecessary cosmetic procedures from cosmetic treatment providers such as dermatologists or plastic surgeons. Cosmetic treatments have become readily available, which has led to an influx of undiagnosed BDD patients electing to undergo such treatments. Therefore, physicians should have the clinical knowledge about BDD to diagnose and manage these cases to avoid psychological and physical harm to these patients. However, there were no studies conducted in our region to assess the awareness of BDD among physicians who provide cosmetic treatments with regards to their attitude toward such cases and how they would manage it. This study aims to assess the awareness of Body Dysmorphic Disorder among Saudi physicians who provide cosmetic treatments. We conducted an observational cross-sectional study among physicians practicing in hospitals and cosmetic clinics in Riyadh and Jeddah city (Saudi Arabia), who perform cosmetic procedures, namely dermatologists, plastic surgeons, and otorhinolaryngologists. A paper-based questionnaire consisting of multiple-choice questions was distributed among them. The total number of participants was 155 physicians: 113 (72.9%) males and 42 (27.1%) females. Eighty-two (52.9%) participants reported that they have been familiar with the diagnostic criteria of BDD for a long time and ninety-nine (63.8%) reported being familiar with the clinical picture of BDD. Sixty-three (40.6%) participants estimated the prevalence of BDD cases seen in cosmetic practice to range from 1%-5%, and most agreed on an equal prevalence of BDD among female and male patients. Half of the participants (n = 76) (49%) reported that they sometimes share knowledge about BDD with patients whom they suspect to suffer from this condition. In conclusion, cosmetic treatment providers in Saudi Arabia are aware of BDD, but we have identified a discrepancy between the self-reported participant knowledge of diagnostic criteria and their ability to accurately estimate the prevalence of BDD cases seen in clinical practice.

Abstract:
Introduction: Antibiotic resistance has been described by World Health Organisation as a major global health problem that threats our ability to treat common infectious diseases and needs urgent action. Among many other factors, knowledge and behaviour of community members that lead to inappropriate use of antibiotic highly contributes to development and spread of antimicrobial resistance. Hence this study has been undertaken with the aim to assess the knowledge and attitude related to antibiotic use among high school students. Methods: A cross-sectional questionnaire based survey was conducted at a Kathmandu based high-school. The data were collected via self-administered questionnaire after verbal consent for voluntary participation. There were nine questions related to knowledge and five questions related to attitude. Data were aggregated to compile frequency distribution tables and the percentages of responses were calculated. Result: A total of 232 students participated in the study. In the questions related to knowledge, nearly 62% of the students agreed to the statement “Antibiotics are needed to cure most coughs and cold”. About 19% students were not sure whether antibiotics can kill the useful bacteria in our body. In the attitude part, 53.87% students responded that they stop taking antibiotics when they start to feel better and 59.91% students responded that they buy antibiotics on their own from a pharmacist when needed. Conclusions: The deficiencies in basic understanding about the nature and use of antibiotics and casual attitude in their use among high school students is a matter of great concern as it poses many serious problems including promotion of antibiotic resistance

Abstract:
Abstract Introduction Menthol topical application and mouth rinsing are ergogenic in hot environments, improving performance and perception, with differing effects on body temperature regulation. Consequently, athletes and federations are beginning to explore the possible benefits to elite sport performance for the Tokyo 2021 Olympics, which will take place in hot (~ 31 °C), humid (70% RH) conditions. There is no clear consensus on safe and effective menthol use for athletes, practitioners, or researchers. The present study addressed this shortfall by producing expert-led consensus recommendations. Method Fourteen contributors were recruited following ethical approval. A three-step modified Delphi method was used for voting on 96 statements generated following literature consultation; 192 statements total (96/96 topical application/mouth rinsing). Round 1 contributors voted to “agree” or “disagree” with statements; 80% agreement was required to accept statements. In round 2, contributors voted to “support” or “change” their round 1 unaccepted statements, with knowledge of the extant voting from round 1. Round 3 contributors met to discuss voting against key remaining statements. Results Forty-seven statements reached consensus in round 1 (30/17 topical application/rinsing); 14 proved redundant. Six statements reached consensus in round 2 (2/4 topical application/rinsing); 116 statements proved redundant. Nine further statements were agreed in round 3 (6/3 topical application/rinsing) with caveats. Discussion Consensus was reached on 62 statements in total (38/24 topical application/rinsing), enabling the development of guidance on safe menthol administration, with a view to enhancing performance and perception in the heat without impairing body temperature regulation.

Abstract:
This study mainly examines the effect of Vocabulary Self-Collection Strategy (VSS) instruction on students’ vocabulary knowledge. Moreover, it investigates the students’ perceptions towards the implementation of VSS instruction. Thirty-eight Thai EFL undergraduate students majoring in English at a university located in Thailand participated in the study. To determine the students’ vocabulary knowledge before and after the instruction, the vocabulary pretest and posttest were employed. A perception questionnaire and a semi-structured interview were conducted at the end of VSS instruction to elicit the students’ perceptions towards VSS instruction. The paired samples t-test analysis indicates that the students improved short-term vocabulary retention, and they could retain vocabulary learned after VSS instruction. The results from the questionnaire and the semi-structured interview showed that they mostly agreed that VSS instruction assisted them in learning new words, memorizing word meaning, having a chance to choose their own words to learn, sharing words to classmates, working in a group, and realizing the importance of learning new words. The findings will help Thai EFL university students improve their vocabulary learning and generate an innovative body of knowledge regarding vocabulary instruction. Pedagogical implications are also suggested for EFL teachers who want to implement VSS in their vocabulary instruction.

Abstract:
Every pregnant woman has the right to care during childbirth and postpartum, and that this is performed in a humane and safe way. To ensure autonomy, it is necessary to put the woman in control of labor and birth, providing the necessary knowledge that allows her to make decisions about her own body. The study aimed to know the autonomy and knowledge of primiparous women in choosing the type of delivery. This is a qualitative field research. The participants were primiparous women, who agreed to participate in the research by signing the Informed Consent Form. The interviews were conducted after approval by the Research Ethics Committee under protocol n. CPEA 31364620.8.0000.5428, opinion n. 4,300,350. In view of the results, the following themes emerged: Reception and neglected bond between health units and pregnant women, revealed by reports of negative and frustrated experiences in the parturition process. Factors that prevent the autonomy of the choice of delivery in pregnant women and negative experiences and frustrated expectations regarding the moment of delivery, in which the reports indicated a lack of explanation of the procedures, lack of communication and prejudiced decision of the physician in relation to the delivery. It was concluded that the study showed the need for actions aimed at women’s health in the pregnancy-puerperal period, which enable conditions for female empowerment in decision-making about the body itself.

Abstract:
Biodiversity knowledge is communicated by scientists to policymakers at the biodiversity “science-policy interface” (SPI). Although the biodiversity SPI is the subject of a growing body of literature, gaps in our understanding include the efficacy of mechanisms to bridge the interface, the quality of information exchanged between science and policy, and the inclusivity of stakeholders involved. To improve this understanding, we surveyed an important but under-studied group—biodiversity policymakers and scientific advisors representing their respective countries in negotiations of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) and the Intergovernmental Science-Policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES). We found that a wide variety of SPI mechanisms were being used. Overall, they were considered to be sufficiently effective, improving over time, and supplied with information of adequate quality. Most respondents, however, agreed that key actors were still missing from the biodiversity SPI.

The question to which I seek here to address myself may be formulated in the following way. Is philosophy to be thought of as essentially one and the same subject in all its different manifestations, carried on, certainly, in noticeably differing ways by different people at different times and in different places, but to be understood nevertheless as consisting of one overall body of knowledge? Or should the term ‘philosophy’ be regarded rather as standing for a ‘family resemblance concept’, and the family in question as containing among its members some who may be hardly capable of establishing any mutually agreed channels of communication with each other? In what follows I shall try to display, if not necessarily to disentangle, some of the underlying complexities on which, as it seems to me, answers to these questions may depend.

Background: Dental caries is a common but preventable, multifactorial disease in children. Among several others, it is influenced by child-and parent-related factors. Aims: To describe knowledge, attitude and practices about oral health among parents of kindergarten children and assess factors influencing caries distribution among the children. Methods: Parents of 290 kindergarten children in AlMadinah, Saudi Arabia, answered questions concerning their oral health knowledge, attitudes and practices. The children underwent an oral clinical examination. Data were collected between February and April 2018. Comparison between groups was done using the Kruskal–Wallis test. Results: All parents agreed on the importance of fluoride to strengthen teeth, while 91.7% thought that sweets have a negative impact on teeth. Almost all children ate sweets and candies (99%), while most of them used toothbrushes and fluoride to clean their teeth (98%). Only 66% of parents took their children to the dentist. The 2-step cluster analysis revealed that clusters of children with high body mass index (BMI) and those whose parents had only primary education had the highest caries prevalence compared to clusters of children with lower BMI and parents with higher education (P < 0.05). Conclusions: Within the study limits, parents demonstrated good oral health knowledge, attitudes and practices. Kindergarten children had high caries, especially those with high BMI and whose parents had low educational levels.

Abstract:
Abstract Human beings move coherently as individual selves, body and mind adapted to perform complex activities with imagination, knowledge, and skill; perceiving the environment by engaging it with discrimination and care. Human beings live intersubjectively in communitiesl each with the rituals, beliefs, and language of a culture, along with a history of affective relationships and agreed habits for acting in cooperation. These attachments and cultural habits depend upon an ability to sense the intentions, interests, and feelings of other human selves through sympathetic response to motives and emotions as displayed in the shapes and rhythms of body movement: an ability that infants possess from birth. No brain theory explains this ‘felt immediacy’ of others’ life experience, which philosophers of the Scottish Enlightenment accepted as proof that human beings are ‘innately sympathetic’. An innate time sense, capacity to ‘attune’ to the dynamics of body movement, and ability to recognise serial ordering in ‘stories’ all appear essential. A theory of ‘communicative musicality’ employs key parameters of pulse, quality of movement, and narrative, applying them to poetry, music, dance, the prosody and rhetoric of language, and the regulation of skillful practices of all kinds. These elements - present in foetal movements and engaged in through joyful intersubjective ‘story-telling’ from birth - give direct information on how the human brain orchestrates reflex functions to move the body with sensations of grace and efficiency. Their age-related development leads to mastery of language and cultural rituals. They conduct all cognitive functions and all meaning making.

Abstract:
Sea fishing is one of the sectors with the highest risk of illness and work-related accidents. The purpose of the study is to evaluate the exposure of fishing workers to three major risks: biomechanical overload, noise, and whole-body vibrations. We used common methods and measurement tools in the field: observational video analysis, questionnaires, and direct measurement. Noise and vibrations levels were measured aboard five boats belonging to the main fishing communities of Southern Italy. The random sample consisted of 310 workers, of whom 108 agreed to complete a questionnaire to collect data on the perception of occupational risk and self-perception of health conditions. We found that fishermen had a high prevalence of osteoarticular pathologies (42%) and that the biomechanical overload risk is mainly related to handling manual loads. Furthermore, the results indicate that the levels of weekly noise exposure exceed the exposure limit value of 87 decibel A (dBA) for fishing workers, and that the most noisiest area is the engine room. Exposure levels to whole-body vibrations were below <0.5 m/s2. Knowledge on occupational hazards and health effects in the fisheries sector should be used to develop ship technology, raise awareness of the correct use of personal protective equipment, and improve health surveillance of these workers.

Abstract:
There is an urgent need to address the lack of Aboriginal-specific diabetes prevention and management resources. Following consultation with Victorian Aboriginal health workers, the Victorian Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation and Diabetes Australia – Victoria developed ‘Feltman’, a life-sized felt body showing the main organs involved in the digestion and metabolism of food, and the main parts of the body affected by diabetes. Feltman was distributed to all Victorian Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisations and an additional 32 Victorian organisations. In total, 276 people from 57 organisations were trained to use Feltman. An online evaluation survey was developed and sent to all people who were trained to use Feltman in Victoria. Sixty-six people completed the survey. All respondents agreed Feltman was an appropriate tool for the Aboriginal community, 89% of health workers felt more confident in their ability to discuss diabetes with their community but would like further training to maintain skills and confidence and 70% of workers had used Feltman with the community. Qualitative feedback noted its strength as a highly visual resource that was popular with the Aboriginal community. Workers reported that Feltman was a highly acceptable diabetes education resource, which they believed had increased knowledge and improved the management of diabetes among clients.

Abstract:
Pathfinder network scaling has been used widely to assess knowledge acquisition and inform interface design. While a large body of research agrees on the validity of this technique to develop knowledge structures, the rating task becomes cumbersome when users are faced with a large number of concepts to relate. Thus, a new rating method was created to help users determine the relationships between concepts. This new interface allows subjects to judge proximity by arranging concepts in visual space on a target. Traditionally, subjects were presented the concepts in pairs and made ratings on Likert Scales. Students ( N = 88) at the Air Force Academy used both methods to rate the similarity of basic flying concepts. Results showed that the new method was more sensitive to differences in knowledge structures between experienced and inexperienced pilots ( p < .01). Experienced subjects also preferred the new target method compared to the traditional rating method. The relative efficiency of the two methods is discussed.

Abstract:
Introduction: Glycemic control is associated with better health outcomes among patients with diabetes. No previous research has examined the relationship between knowledge of one’s insulin dose and glycemic control. This study sought to determine if patients who accurately recalled their insulin dose achieved better glycemic control than patients who could not remember their dose. Methods: Interviews were conducted with 106 patients. Data were collected during patients’ appointments at two endocrinology clinics in Wichita, Kansas from May 29, 2018 to February 15, 2019. Adequate glycemic control was defined as an HbA1c of less than 7.5%. A multiple logistic regression model was developed to identify factors associated with glycemic control. Results: Of the 109 patients asked to participate, 105 agreed to participate in the study. About half (45%, n = 48) were male. Patients’ mean age was 50 years (SD = 17). Seventy-seven percent (n = 81) were overweight (body mass index (BMI) of 25 to 29.9) or obese (BMI >30). Patients who correctly stated their insulin dose had a mean Hemoglobin A1c (HbA1c) of 6.9% (SD = 0.98), whereas those who incorrectly stated their dose had a mean HbA1c of 9.5% (SD = 1.9; p <0.0001). Conclusions: There was a significant relationship between knowledge of one’s insulin dose and adequate glycemic control.

Abstract:
Radiographers and radiation therapists continually upgrade their knowledge to remain informed and competent in modern radiological imaging techniques. Despite the generally agreed upon significance of anatomy for successful interpretation of imaging modalities, its link with clinical performance of radiographers and radiation therapists has not been highlighted before. The above-stated gap in the literature was addressed by employing an anatomy-based CPD course and investigating its influence on intravenous cannulation and administration skills of 10 radiographers and 4 radiation therapists. The course comprised interactive anatomy tutorials (employing vascular histology e-modules and vascular prosections), lectures and simulation sessions to practice IV cannulation. Likert questionnaires were employed to gauge attitudes and interests, prior to and after the course. At the end of the course, participants perceived anatomy prosections/dissection more useful compared to other learning modalities, including social media, textbooks, e-learning, plastic models and lectures. This corresponded with a significant increase in their perceived level of anatomy knowledge and confidence in identifying structures on prosections, and tracing vessels on radiographs and body surface. Anatomy-based CPD course was valued with regards to their career progression and enhancement of anatomical knowledge. Furthermore, the use of prosections and hands-on practical sessions was highly commended and a desire to attend similar future courses was expressed. Lastly, participants identified factors facilitating or hindering course attendance and offered advice to improve efficacy of future courses. We conclude that an interactive anatomy-based CPD—employing multimodal pedagogies—can be effective in enhancing anatomy knowledge and clinical competence of radiographers and radiation therapists.

Abstract:
Objectives: There are no agreed comprehensive tests for age-related changes to physical, emotional, mental and social functioning. Research into declining function focuses on those 75 years and older and little is known about age-related changes in younger people. The aims of this project were (1) to ascertain a comprehensive test battery that could underpin community-based health screening programmes for people aged 40–75 years and pilot both (2) community-based recruitment and (3) the utility, acceptability, response burden and logistics. Methods: A total of 11 databases were searched using a broad range of relevant terms. An identified comprehensive, recent, high-quality systematic review of screening instruments for detection of early functional decline for community-dwelling older people identified many relevant tools; however, not all body systems were addressed. Therefore, lower hierarchy papers identified in the rapid review were included and expert panel consultation was conducted before the final test battery was agreed. Broad networks were developed in one Australian city to aid pilot recruitment of community-dwellers 40–75 years. Recruitment and testing processes were validated using feasibility testing with 12 volunteers. Results: The test battery captured (1) online self-reports of demographics, health status, sleep quality, distress, diet, physical activity, oral health, frailty and continence; and (2) objective tests of anthropometry; mobility; lung function; dexterity; flexibility, strength and stability; hearing; balance; cognition and memory; foot sensation; and reaction time. Recruitment and testing processes were found to be feasible. Conclusion: This screening approach may provide new knowledge on healthy ageing in younger people.

However, there is ample disagreements regarding how the children or those who die before the age of puberty would be rewarded or punished. By investigating Avicenna and Mullā Ṣadrā's viewpoints and studying the Infallibles' narratives, the present library-based study attempted to answer the following question: what is the destiny of children and the status of their souls after dissociating from body in the hereafter. The findings showed that although there are some disagreements on this regard among the three, they unanimously agree that punishing children without the Divine test is against the Divine justice; because of the Divine mercy and the children's not reaching to the age of puberty, as well as the rule which stipulates no punishment without declaration of law, there will be no punishment for the children. Children will be subject to the Divine mercy and, according to some narrative, they will join their faithful parents. Moreover, according to some other narratives, they will be trained by Ḥaḍrat Zahrā (PBUH), Ibrāhīm and Sara, and become the servants of the people of the paradise. All of the above are consistent with the narratives on the Divine knowledge about the children. Finally, from Avicenna and Mullā Ṣadrā's viewpoints, there is no intellectual impediment.

Abstract:
Background: Biology contents in high school are worked in a fragmented way, and in excessively theoretical and expositive classes, but game apps appear as tools with high playful potential. Objective: To identify the contributions of BioIntegrada in the construction of the integrative perception of the contents of the cell and the environment. Design: Qualitative approach and action research method. Setting and participants: 40 students enrolled in the 2nd grade of high school at a state public school in the municipality of Milhã, Ceará, Brazil. Data collection and analysis: We used audio recordings and questionnaires with closed and open items and analysed the textual information with the Iramuteq software. Results: BioIntegrada is composed of eight phases, addressing issues of cellular structure, tissues, organs, human body systems, the cycle of worms, scales of ecological organisation and daily actions. By validating the app, we found that the students improved their theoretical knowledge and argumentative level, starting to relate abiotic and biotic factors with the constitution of living beings and deepening socio-environmental discussions of the web of humans and nature relationships. Furthermore, the students evaluated the app positively; 95% liked using it and considered it a facilitator of learning; 85% agreed that it is intuitive and its phases are stimulating. Conclusion: BioIntegrada facilitated learning contents, promoted the integrated perception of the human body and the environment, and was evaluated as good by the students.

Abstract:
The blue whale Balaenoptera musculus (Linnaeus, 1758) was the target of intense commercial whaling in the 20th century, and current populations remain drastically below pre-whaling abundances. Reducing uncertainty in subspecific taxonomy would enable targeted conservation strategies for the recovery of unique intraspecific diversity. Currently, there are 2 named blue whale subspecies in the temperate to polar Southern Hemisphere: the Antarctic blue whale B. m. intermedia and the pygmy blue whale B. m. brevicauda. These subspecies have distinct morphologies, genetics, and acoustics. In 2019, the Society for Marine Mammalogy’s Committee on Taxonomy agreed that evidence supports a third (and presently unnamed) subspecies of Southern Hemisphere blue whale subspecies, the Chilean blue whale. Whaling data indicate that the Chilean blue whale is intermediate in body length between pygmy and Antarctic blue whales. We collected body size data from blue whales in the Gulfo Corcovado, Chile, during the austral summers of 2015 and 2017 using aerial photogrammetry from a remotely controlled drone to test the hypothesis that the Chilean blue whale is morphologically distinct from other Southern Hemisphere blue whale subspecies. We found the Chilean whale to be morphologically intermediate in both overall body length and relative tail length, thereby joining other diverse data in supporting the Chilean blue whale as a unique subspecific taxon. Additional photogrammetry studies of Antarctic, pygmy, and Chilean blue whales will help examine unique morphological variation within this species of conservation concern. To our knowledge, this is the first non-invasive small drone study to test a hypothesis for systematic biology.

Abstract:
Objective: This survey study attempted to determine Turkish primary care physicians’ (PCP) knowledge, attitudes, and perceptions of obesity treatment and bariatric surgery. Moreover, the relationship between the duration of practice as a physician, and especially the indications for bariatric surgery and referral to surgery were investigated. Material and Methods: A survey of 27 questions was administered via social media and the internet using the SurveyMonkey platform. The physicians who responded to the survey were grouped based on the duration of working life. Among these groups, the responses to the questions about bariatric surgery were compared using univariate analysis. Results: A total of 1044 physicians responded to the survey. The number of physicians who strongly agreed that a PCP should play role in the treatment of obesity was 743 (71.1%). The most important reason for not undertaking this treatment was reported as the requirement for a multidisciplinary approach to obesity treatment (51.5%, n= 537). The percentage of those who thought that patients with a body mass index (BMI) above 40 kg/m2 should be referred to surgery was 72.3%,while the percentage of those referring patients with a BMI of 35-40 kg/m2 and comorbidities to surgery was 53.3%, and the percentage of those referring patients with a BMI of 35-40 kg/m2 and uncontrolled diabetes to surgery was 35.9%. Physicians who were new to the profession were found to evaluate surgical indications more positively (p< 0.05). Conclusion: This study found that PCPs in Turkey had a basic knowledge of obesity treatment and were willing to treat and follow up these patients. However, it was observed that they could not adequately focus on this issue due to the requirement for a multidisciplinary approach to the disease and the workload. It was found that the young physiciansð level of knowledge of bariatric surgery was higher, but their attitudes towards patient referral were similar.

Full text
Abstract:
Background: Standard precautions are the basis of infection prevention and include a set of common-sense infection control practices that prevent transmission of diseases acquired by contact with blood, body fluids, nonintact skin, and mucous membranes. These measures include hand hygiene, personal protective equipment (PPE), cleaning and disinfecting, linen handling, waste disposal, sharps safety and respiratory etiquette. Standard precautions require that the risk for exposure be assessed and appropriate precautions taken based on risk. Observations and anecdotal evidence have led us to believe that understanding of standard precautions is lacking among healthcare personnel. Methods: A survey was conducted at a large health system to assess knowledge and practices related to specific elements of standard precautions. Results: More than 3,000 HCWs responded from inpatient settings (41%), outpatient settings (37%), and both settings (22%). Nurses comprised the majority of respondents (54%), and others included physicians (9%), respiratory therapists, as well as physical and occupational therapists. Discussion: The vast majority (96%) of respondents agreed that standard precautions were required in the care of all patients, but a significant proportion (34%) interpreted that to mean that standard precautions always involve wearing gloves, and 22.5% thought that PPE was always required for standard precautions. Hand hygiene and sharps safety were identified as the best understood elements of standard precautions. Respiratory etiquette and cleaning and disinfection were reported as the least understood elements, with PPE, waste disposal, and linen handling also being reported as inadequately understood components of standard precautions (Fig. 1). Conclusions: In an era of increasing drug resistance and fewer effective antibiotics, standard precautions are our best defense against the spread of infections in the healthcare setting. Our survey showed that there is room for improvement among healthcare workers in understanding of the elements of standard precautions. We plan to use the survey to craft a targeted education campaign to improve understanding of and adherence to standard precautions.Funding: NoneDisclosures: None

Abstract:
People are restless in the wake of the growing popularity of spirit dolls in recent years. Contemporary Islamic legal clarity is required when determining whether the spirit doll phenomenon is true or false. The purpose of this article is to respond to a study of contemporary Islamic law concerning the spirit doll phenomenon that has alarmed the public. This is a qualitative study that takes a socio-normative approach. Sadd al-żarī'ah is used as a method for tracking (istinbat) Islamic law. The study's findings revealed that people caring for spirit dolls were motivated by a lack of faith and knowledge, dynamism and animism, as well as hedonism. According to Islamic law's teachings, the spirit doll phenomenon is forbidden and must be abandoned. Ulama gathered in South Sulawesi Province's Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) and agreed to prohibit this phenomenon. The implication is that the spirit doll is manifested in every person whose physical body has a shadow or is physically shaped like a human or animal statue. It is, however, prohibited or permitted for girls' toys only. It is hoped that Muslims will avoid practices that could jeopardize religious values by abstaining from the use of spirit puppets.

Abstract:
Insulin became available for the treatment of patients with diabetes 100 years ago, and soon thereafter it became evident that the biological response to its actions differed markedly between individuals. This prompted extensive research into insulin action and resistance (IR), resulting in the universally agreed fact that IR is a core finding in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). T2DM is the most prevalent form of diabetes, reaching epidemic proportions worldwide. Physical activity (PA) has the potential of improving IR and is, therefore, a cornerstone in the prevention and treatment of T2DM. Whereas most research has focused on the acute effects of PA, less is known about the effects of long-term PA on IR. Here, we describe a model of potential mechanisms behind reduced IR after long-term PA to guide further mechanistic investigations and to tailor PA interventions in the therapy of T2DM. The development of such interventions requires knowledge of normal glucose metabolism, and we briefly summarize an integrated physiological perspective on IR. We then describe the effects of long-term PA on signaling molecules involved in cellular responses to insulin, tissue-specific functions, and whole-body IR.

Abstract:
Symbolic boundaries are essential to social functioning and, more narrowly, to the social functioning of academia. Yet the boundaries of the field of Criminology remain deeply ambiguous. What are the parameters of the field? What is agreed upon as foundational theory? What are the core research agendas? This lack of clarity and consensus hampers internal dialogue between interdisciplinary scholars and constrains efforts to meaningfully address critical societal ills. As such, with this review we seek to promote cohesion in the field and improve our ability to understand crime as a social phenomenon. To accomplish this, a team of researchers conducted a thorough review of criminology textbooks and top journals in the field. We first examine explicit and implicit definitions of criminology and next identify the major avenues of current research. We further highlight major avenues and oversights of research, making recommendations for further study to promote productive cohesion amongst criminologists. Finally, we combine theoretical conceptions of criminology with current research to offer a new, comprehensive definition: Criminology is the theoretically informed scientific study—and the resulting body of knowledge—of crime broadly understood as a socially constructed and embedded phenomenon as well as its causation and prevention.

Abstract:
Ablution is a great form of taharah so Sharia makes it a legal condition of prayer. The four schools have agreed on most problems related to ablution, such as its pillars, its obligations, its circumcision and its nullifiers, but they are also different in some ways. This study aims to find out the opinions of Shafi'i and Hanbali schools about ablution and things which invalidate it, as well as strong opinions of both. The scientific methods used to achieve results are inductive-deductive and comparison methods. The results showed that the things which invalidate it according to the Shafi'i school there are four things and according to the Hanbali school there are seven. Then there is the difference of opinion between the two schools in this matter on four points, namely: the feces coming out of the body as thing can invalidate the ablution, sleeping while sitting, touching women and eating camel meat. This research is expected to contribute in the field of comparative jurisprudence of schools, especially in the problem of nullifiers of ablution according to Shafi'i and Hanbali schools, and increasing knowledge in this matter.

Abstract:
This research entitled “An Assessment of the impact of credit risk management and performance on loan portfolio at International Bank Liberia Limited from 2015-2017 contributed to the body of knowledge to the beneficiaries. It findings are also important for the Central Bank to use in monitoring credit scoring and history across all commercial bank with in the country. This study was quantitative in nature, and involves mathematical modelling in order to determine the effect of changes in interest rates on profit and net worth of the sampled banks. This study uses panel data and assumes that the effect of interest rate changes vary across the observations and over time, therefore the use of stochastic econometric (panel regression analysis) process is appropriate. The population of the study will consist of 150 credit staffs and other staffs of IBLL. The study adopt a census study and collect data for two years from 1st January, 2015 to 31st December, 2017 and the researcher used sample out 85 respondents representing 57% as the sample size from the population of 150 persons from the study area. The findings reveals that it was established from the study that 25% of the respondents who were picked from the institution agreed that credit score is one of the major system used by the bank in determining loan and 32% selected credit history. It was also observed that that bank operate within a defined credit granting criteria. The findings also show that IBLL established a system of independent, ongoing assessment of the bank‟s credit risk management. It was proven that 48% of the respondents agree while 41% strongly agree. It was established that IBLL have a loan risk management policy in place. This policy is very crucial in providing guidelines on how to manage the various risks the bank encounter in their lending activities. Members of the bank and regulators are those responsible for the formulation of the credit policy with less input from employees.

Abstract:
Objectives This is a qualitative study to identify the experiences of nursing college students who participated in classes that applied remote learning and note-taking tasks during COVID-19. Methods The subjects of this study were eight first-year nursing students taking a class on human body structure and function, who voluntarily agreed to participate in the research. Individual interviews were conducted, which were then analyzed using the Content analysis method. Results Three central meanings (experiences convenience, feels difficulty concentrating on class, lack of online communication) and seven topic words (individual control, repeated learning, space-time transcendence, individual inclination, environment, interaction, and system unification) were derived from the experience of remote learning. Meanwhile, the effect of note-taking generated four central meanings (improvement of academic achievement, improvement of self-directed learning ability, need for interactive process, differences depending on individual learning inclination) and 12 topic words (interest in learning, accumulation of major knowledge, improvement of grades, stimulation of learning motivation, setting learning plan, the realization of how to learn, improving focus on learning, Instructor feedback, interaction with colleagues, time consumption, the burden on handwriting, and lack of motivation for learning). Conclusions Concurrent operation of remote learning and note-taking tasks can be a measure to supplement learning control ability according to the learner's individual inclination, which can be utilized in the design of classes for basic nursing subjects in the future.

Abstract:
Purpose Group reporting, a form of cooperative learning, is a learning tool often employed in residential teaching to facilitate quality learning. Like other cooperative learning methods, it enhances learning in classrooms by allowing students work on activities in small groups to receive rewards based on their group’s performance. However, though group reporting is often done in face-to-face settings, few up-to-date literature has shown its application in online learning. Moreover, the question as to whether online cooperative learning through group reports yields positive or negative response from students has to be studied further. The paper aims to discuss these issues. Design/methodology/approach This study focuses on the students’ response to the group reporting activity carried throughout one semester. A course offered by the University of the Philippines Open University on database management systems made use of group reporting to add to the students’ learning experience. Group meetings along with regular online lectures were carried out during the first half of the semester. The output group reports were then presented during the second half and served as the main resource for those weeks’ study modules. An online survey with Likert scales drawing out the student reactions on the learning activity impact was administered to volunteer respondents at the end of classes. Findings In total, 71.9 percent of 32 respondents observed changes in their behavior after using peer and cooperative learning technologies. The respondents also indicated that they enjoyed the group reporting activity (14 agreeing strongly, 14 agreeing moderately). They also indicated that they were motivated to learn the course through the group reports (8 agreeing strongly, 14 agreeing moderately). However, when asked if they preferred to have all the modules in group report format 9 agreed moderately, 8 disagreed moderately, 7 disagreed strongly, 4 agreed strongly, and 4 neither agreed nor disagreed. Still, overall, online cooperative learning facilitated quality learning based on this study’s results. Originality/value This study contributes to the body of knowledge by showing how group reporting can be applied online and how students have responded to it. The study also provides recommendations on how to conduct online cooperative learning in order to enhance the quality of courses, with implications for further research to look into variations with respect to the technology used for reporting and its suitability to a given course.
