Mestrado em Economia<br>The agricultural sector plays a vital role in the development of Mozambique’s economy, so it is important to understand the relation between the macroeconomic environment and this sector. This master thesis examines the relationship between macroeconomic variables and agricultural production in Mozambique, adopting the classical regression model and using bootstrap, with the endogenous variable being total production, regressed in several covariates. The time horizon is from 1980 to 2012. A robust test is undertaken, estimated by a Bayesian model. The empirical result

The paper examines significance of institutional environment for agricultural production. It adds to the extensive research of agricultural production functions. First, it reviews relevant theory of institutional economics that explains how institutions contribute to productivity in general, especially if interpreted as economic freedom. Then, a model of agricultural production is presented, which explains aggregate agricultural production using various inputs, as well as variables representing institutional environment. Abstract:
Previous variability studies in both U.S. and worldwide agriculture have indicated that crop production has been accompanied by increasing variation. In this research, four different variability indexes were estimated in order to evaluate the production variability associated with the major Arizona field crops. Results show that major Arizona field crops, which are all irrigated, did not have a uniform production variability over the last 24 years and the variability of these crops did not generally increase between the periods of 1967-1978 and 1979-1990. Although biological factors (e.g. pest
