Full textThe main objective of this research is to develop a Strategic Plan for the Peruvian agricultural fresh fruit and vegetables exporting Sector, given the enormous potential it possesses to become one of the world’s main exporters of such products. The development of this Plan benefits from the enormous advantage bestowed upon this activity by the range of geographic zones that exist within Peru, as well as the country’s strategic geographic location. Also of importance is the considerable commercial support provided by the free trade agreements Peru has signed, and the success of Marca Perú [“Brand Peru”], which has achieved worldwide recognition. In this research work we analyzed internal and external factors, and this enabled us to identify the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats that led to our establishing a series of strategies designed to achieve the proposed Vision. The long term objectives formulated were designed to achieve economic growth, hand-in-hand with the technological innovation that will allow us to develop sustainably. Considering the fact that Peru has been experiencing FOB growth in excess of 20%, we believe that with an appropriate policy for the promotion of agricultural exports Peru could become one of the world’s leading exporting countries. As part of the project, we considered the development of this sector and the possibilities for sustainable growth in non-traditional products, such as organic produce, blueberries, onions and other crops with the potential to contribute to increased exports, that will help improve the socioeconomic conditions of all those who form part of the value chain.

Full textThe present business plan analyzes the financial viability of developing a line of business for the export of fresh blueberries, recognizing an opportunity in the fact of the cultivation and marketing of fruit, with multiple benefits for the different actors in the exportation to a market of high demand. The largest importer of blueberries is US with a share greater than 50% of the total imports worldwide, which represents an amount above the 214,000.00 tons (ITC-Trade Map, presented in the publication of the DGPA-MINAGRI). Considering that in the U.S. there is a growing trend for both the production and import, the North American market becomes attractive to the leading exporters of blueberry. The blueberry belongs to the family of berries, and there are multiple species. The Blueberry has beneficial properties for human health, one of the main is the high content of antioxidants, which contributes to prolonging the life expectancy of human beings, in a context where the tendency to consume products that promote good health is increasingly adopted worldwide. For Peru, the destination of exports is concentrated mainly in the U.S., Holland (The Netherlands), the United Kingdom and China, being the main exporters “Camposol” and “Talsa”. It should be also mentioned that the export business has a steady season, which maintains peaks among the months of September and December. These attributes are encouraging the consumption of blueberries in the U.S., Europe and Asia; markets that demand products that contribute to improve the quality of life.

Full textThe present investigation was elaborated with the purpose of determining the financial impact of the change of functional currency in the companies that make up the agro-export sector of the northern macro-region of Peru. To do this, we will use as our main tool the International Accounting Standard No. 21 "Effects of variations in foreign exchange rates", specifically in the functional currency section. With this, we will proceed to establish a guide for the accounting community of the companies in the sector, as well as analyzing how the application of this norm will impact on the financial statements of companies in the sector. To carry out the validation of our hypotheses, we have contacted the main companies in the agro-export sector of the northern macro-region of the country, to which we surveyed. Additionally, we contacted experts on the subject, whom we interviewed and, finally, 4 case studies were conducted to evaluate the financial impact of our thesis topic. From the analyzed data we conclude that it is not possible to define a negative or positive impact on the financial statements of the analyzed companies, it depends on the specific situation through which it crosses. However, from the information analyzed in the surveys and interviews in these companies, a positive impact has been observed.

Full textThe arrival of biofuels companies in the Chira Valley, Piura, Peru, in order to produce ethanol on sugarcane cultivation, intensified the agricultural use of land and water in the mid-2000s. This article analyzes the ecological, political and social transformations that biofuels production brought about in the valley. For that purpose the paper describes the role of the state in promoting biofuels and the concomitant land and water-grabbing processes in the valley. It also explores the consequences it had for local communities and medium-sized and small farmers. Ethanol production in the Chira valley produced a profound space transformation because land and water-grabbing processes for biofuels reinforced social inequalities. Information for this article was gathered from primary and secondarysources. This is a qualitative research. Eighteen interviews were conducted in Piura and Lima.

Damonte, Valencia Gerardo, Negreiros Isabel Gonzales, and Vega Julieta Lahud. "The Constitution of Water Power: Agro-exporters and groundwater scarcity in the Ica Valley and Pampas de Villacurí." Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú, 2016. http://repositorio.pucp.edu.pe/index/handle/123456789/79686.
Full textThe agro-export boom in the coastal region of Ica has caused two interrelated processes: the generation of water scarcity scenarios and the emergency of the agro-exporter group as a new social actor. The role assigned to agro-exporters in the narrative of regional development has given them a dominant position in the management of Ica water resources. This has generated a re-configurationof social and political relationships at the local space that has allowed them to be able of even contest State’s efforts to regulate groundwater use. Thus, the questions guiding this research are: how the agro-exporter group has concentrated water power in Ica? And how do they exercise this power? This paper argues that control over groundwater resources has fallen into the hands of the agro-exporter group due to their capacity to concentrate and exercise three dimensions of power: economic capacity, technical knowledge and coercion. In developing this argument, we explain how the concentration of these power dimensions has influenced in the production of water scarcity scenarios to certain groups of population, without confronting much resistance despite of it.
Ampuero, Villafuerte Silvia, Ortiz Adolfo Edwin Espinoza, and De La Cruz Roxana Betzabe Iparraguirre. "Plan de negocio: Agroexportadora SRA Avocado Export S.A.C." Master's thesis, Universidad Peruana de Ciencias Aplicadas (UPC), 2020. http://hdl.handle.net/10757/653388.
Full textThe purpose of this research is to prepare the Hass Avocado Agro-exporter Business Plan for the European market, specifically the Netherlands, and for this the business line of the company “SRA Avocado Export SA” is developed which, through association with the NGO CEDEP and the farmers of inter-Andean valleys in Lucanas (Ayacucho) and of the coast in Palpa and Ica (Ica), it would be possible to offer high quality products and in sufficient volumes. The Justification and importance of the proposed Business Plan is considered viable for 04 fundamental reasons: (i) because the avocado market for export has enough growth potential and Peru has been occupying the first places in production and export; (ii) the great demand for the product due to the discovery of medicinal and culinary qualities, both nationally and internationally; (iii) institutional experience of the NGO CEDEP in managing the cultivation of avocados for export and their commercialization that will guarantee the quality of the fruit; and (iv) and continue supporting rural populations living in poverty. Finally, the objectives will be reflected in the Business Plan, they buy the strategies, plans and costs associated with these in order to establish the Financial Statements of the "SRA Avocado" Project. Once these are known, they will analyze the indicators of profitability, indebtedness, liquidity and cash flows of the project. The central financial factors that prove the viability of the business are the Present Value of the Project (NPV) which amounts to USD 352,304 and the Internal Rate of Return (IRR) of 55.1%, which allow us to ensure that it is a financially viable project. The business plan will serve as a guide for farmers and investors, who are ultimately the ones who, through associative work, would be able to position the product in the target market, and take advantage of what the product can offer the country and the private company.
