Abstract:
The aim of this study is to examine the possible use of ion-exchange resin on Dowex AG 50x8 in separating Y-90 from Sr-90 which then could be applied in the basic of manufacture of producing Sr-90/Y-90 generator for the production of radiopharmaceutical cancer therapy. The findings showed that a distributive coefficient of Sr-90 and Y-90 with HCl 6 N solvent showed that distributive coefficient of Sr-90 in cation-exchange resin on Dowex 50x8 was greater than Y-90. Y-90 in HCl 6 N solvent was more easily eluted, while Sr-90 was bound to resin.. In conclusion, resin on Dowex AG 50x8 with HCl 6 N elution solvent might be able to separate Y-90 from Sr-90 as the basis for Sr-90/Y-90 generator.

Abstract:
Background: Flexibility is a range of movement available at a joint. Tightness of muscle is caused by a decline in the ability of muscle to disfigure. Hamstring tightness can lead to low back pain, bad posture, imbalances of muscles and knee pain. According to previously performed studies, prolonged sitting can be a factor that leads to hamstring tightness; therefore, we selected nursing students as a participant in the study who have a daily sitting time of 6-8 hours. Hence objective of the study is to find out the prevalence of hamstring tightness among nursing students. Aim: The study's aim was to find out if Nursing Students have hamstring tightness due to Prolonged Sitting using a 90-90 SLR test. Study design: Observational study. Methodology: In this cross-sectional study, 145 participants were included by verifying inclusion and exclusion criteria. Consent was taken before evaluation. Hamstring tightness was measured by a 90-90 SLR test. After that, height and weight were measured, and BMI was calculated. After evaluating all participants, prevalence was calculated. Then, it was compared with BMI. Result: 20.68 per cent of participants had hamstring tightness. Conclusion: The result indicates that the prevalence of hamstring tightness is low in nursing students. KEYWORDS: Hamstring tightness, Nursing students, 90-90 SLR test, Body Mass Index.

Abstract:
Aim The aim of this article is to compare 90-day and 30-day recall of Pediatric Migraine Disability Assessment (PedMIDAS) elements and headache frequency against daily entries from an Internet headache diary among pediatric patients and their parents. Methods In a prospective cohort study, patients aged 10–18 years with episodic migraine or probable migraine completed a 90-day Internet-based headache diary that incorporated PedMIDAS questions. Following the 90-day diary period, patients and parents completed modified PedMIDAS instruments to assess 90-day and 30-day recall. Intraclass correlation coefficients (ICC) were calculated to measure recall reliability. The Kruskal-Wallis and Jonckheere-Terpstra tests were used to explore recall accuracy as it relates to each participant’s self-reported confidence in recall and to patient age. Results Fifty-two subjects completed 90 consecutive diary entries. Comparing 30-day to 90-day recall of PedMIDAS elements, ICC scores improved by 26.2% (patients) and 17.5% (parents). Patients had better recall than their parents for all study measures. Self-reported confidence in recall and patient age had limited and inconsistent effects on recall accuracy. Conclusion The optimal recall interval to assess migraine disability must balance recall accuracy with generalizability across a range of headache frequencies. When compared to daily diary entries, recall accuracy of PedMIDAS elements and headache frequency improves at 30 days compared to 90 days. Parent report of migraine disability should not be used as a replacement for patient report.

"Role of active joint position sense on the upper extremity functional performance tests in college volleyball players." PeerJ 10 (June 9, 2022): e13564. http://dx.doi.org/10.7717/peerj.13564.

Full text
Abstract:
Background It has been well established that proprioception plays a decisive role in shoulder stability and sport performance. Notwithstanding, there is a lack of clear association between active joint position sense (AJPS) and the performance of upper-extremity functional performance tests. The aim of this study was to determine whether the AJPS of the shoulder complex is associated with the performance of college volleyball players with the following functional tests: Y-Balance Test-Upper Quarter (YBT-UQ), Closed Kinetic Chain Upper-Extremity Stability Test (CKCUEST), and Seated Medicine Ball Throw (SMBT). The secondary aim was to investigate whether the magnitude of the proprioception error through the AJPS had the ability to act as a predictor for functional test scores. Methods Cross-sectional study with a convenience sampling. Healthy college volleyball players (≥12 h of training/week), 30 males and 22 females, between 18 and 26 years of age were included. AJPS of the shoulder (90° of flexion (90°Flex), 90° of internal rotation at 90° of abduction (90°IR/ABD), 90° of external rotation at 90° of abduction (90°ER/ABD)) and three upper-extremity functional performance tests (YBT-UQ, CKCUEST and SMBT) were assessed. A Pearson’s test and a stepwise multiple linear regression analysis were used to determine possible associations and relationships between outcome measures, respectively. Results The analysis revealed that AJPS at 90°IR/ABD and 90°ER/ABD were the only proprioceptive variables with an association to the YBT-UQ and SMBT. Despite these relationships, only the AJPS at 90°IR/ABD was associated with the performance of the YBT-UQ in; superolateral direction (β = −0.7; 95% CI [−1.3 to 0.1]; p = 0.025); inferolateral direction (β = −1.5; 95% CI [−2.1 to −0.8]; p = 0.001); and composite score (β = −0.8; 95% CI [−1.3 to −0.3]; p = 0.002). From these, AJPS at 90°IR/ABD mainly explained the variability of YBT-UQ (inferolateral direction) performance (R2 = 0.32; %R2 = 0.32). Our findings allow for a possible expanded role for proprioception as a contributing factor in upper limb motor control during functional movements. Further research is required to explore and distinguish the associations between proprioception, motor control and sport performance involving the upper limbs.

Abstract:
Background/Aim. Selective intraarterial radionuclide therapy (SIRT) with Yttrium-90 (Y-90) microspheres is also known as radioembolization and delivers high doses of radiation to hepatic tumors with minimum healthy liver exposure. The aim of this study was to present our preliminary experience in the role of liver directed radiotherapy with Y-90 microspheres for the treatment of unresectable hepatic metastases from neuroendocrine tumors (NET). Methods. The results of SIRT in 10 patients (5 males, 5 females; mean age 48.7 years; age range 24-73 years) with metastatic liver disease from NETs during the period from April 2008 through August 2010 were reviewed. All patients had meticulous pre- and post-imaging studies as a part of their work-up procedure, as well as serologic tests of liver function to determine the extent of liver function damage. The patients who were eligible for SIRT had pretreatment visceral angiography to define and occlude non-target arteries. Results. The mean ? SD administered SIR-Spheres? activity was 1.49 ? 0.42 GBq (range 0.72-2.21 GBq) in all the patients. These treatments delivered a dose of 99.73 ? 66.36 Gy (range 49- 420.8 Gy) to the target tumors. The estimated dose to the lungs and normal liver was 4.45 ? 1.95 Gy (range 2.4-8.5 Gy) and 26.73 ? 14.19 Gy (range 5-58.9 Gy), respectively. Overall response rate of 90% and patient tolerance was satisfactory for most patients. Conclusion. From our limited experience, we can conclude that SIRT with Y-90 microspheres is a safe and efficacious treatment option for patients with liver metastasis of NET without any serious side effects.

Abstract:
The aim of this paper was to investigate the presence of the urinary 90 kDa N-domain ACE in a cohort of the population from Vitoria, Brazil, to verify its association with essential hypertension since this isoform could be a possible genetic marker of hypertension. Anthropometric, clinical, and laboratory parameters of the individuals were evaluated (n=1150) and the blood pressure (BP) was measured. The study population was divided according to ACE isoforms in urine as follows: ACE 65/90/190, presence of three ACE isoforms (n=795), ACE 90+(65/90) (n=186), and ACE 90−(65/190) (n=169) based on the presence (+) or absence (−) of the 90 kDa ACE isoform. The anthropometric parameters, lipid profile, serum levels of uric acid, glucose, and the systolic and diastolic BP were significantly greater in the ACE 90+compared with the ACE 90−and ACE 65/90/190 individuals. We found that 98% of individuals from the ACE 90+group and 38% from the ACE 65/90/190 group had hypertension, compared to only 1% hypertensive individuals in the ACE 90−group. There is a high presence of the 90 kDa N-domain ACE isoform (85%) in the studied population. The percentile of normotensive subjects with three isoforms was 62%. Our findings could contribute to the development of new efficient strategy to prevent and treat hypertension to avoid the development of cardiovascular disease.

Abstract:
Despite the widespread application of the Symptom Check List-90-R (SCL-90-R) with Chinese middle-school students, there are currently no widely accepted national norms for mental health specifically for this group. In this study our aim was to establish mental-health norms for Chinese middle-school students using the Chinese version of the SCL-90-R. A large sample (N = 20,862) of Chinese middle-school students completed the SCL-90-R. Their mean scores for the 9 subscales of the SCL-90-R ranged from 1.45 to 1.85. The mean General Symptomatic Index score was 1.61 ± 0.57. There were significant differences between these norms and the norms reported in a Chinese study conducted in 1986. The scores we recorded in this study can be used as new mental-health norms for this age group because the data were acquired directly through a survey using a large sample representative of middle-school students in China.

Composite materials have a number of properties that make them attractive for use in aerospace applications. The impact behavior of fiber reinforced composite materials is much more complex than conventional metallic structures due to a number of different failure modes on the inter laminar and intra laminar level. The aim of this study is to investigate the effects of temperature and thermal residual stresses on the impact behavior and damage of glass/epoxy laminated composites. To this end, thermal stress analyses of the laminates with lay-ups [90/0/0/90] s, [90/0/45/45] s, [0/90/45/-45] s, [45/0/-45/90] s are carried out under different temperatures by using ANSYS software. Also, the impact analysis on the laminated composites was performed at the different range of impact energies under different temperatures. The specific energy values and impact parameters were obtained and compared for each type of specimens and temperatures.

Abstract:
Abstract The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between the number of repetition maxima to volitional failure (RM) at 60%, 75%, 90% of 1RM and fatigue index (FI), a determinant of the muscular endurance level. Thirty four resistance trained male participants attended two testing sessions. The first session was conducted to assess 1RM load and RM at 60%, 75% and 90% of 1RM in the supine biceps curl (SBC) exercise. In the second session, a FI test protocol consisting of five sets of SBC with 90 s rest between sets was performed to determine FI values. Each set was performed to volitional failure using a sub-maximal load in the range of 15-20RM. Hypothetical high FI and low FI groups (17 participants with the highest and lowest FI values, respectively) were formed for statistical analyses. ANOVA results revealed that RM at 60%, 75%, 90% of 1RM were not significantly different between FI groups when controlled for mean repetition tempo (p=0.11, p=0.38, p=0.13, respectively). Pearson’s correlation coefficients revealed that no significant relationship was present between FI values and RM at 60%, 75%, 90% of 1RM (p=0.40, p=0.46, p=0.14, respectively). In conclusion, the muscular endurance level of participants defined in terms of FI value was not an indicator of RM in SBC. Therefore, athletes with different muscular endurance levels can use similar percentages of 1RM in biceps curl exercise in their training programs when the aim is to elicit training adaptations related to specific RM zones.

Abstract:
Aim: The study aim was to investigate whether cognitive impairment, measured by the Six-Item Cognitive Impairment Test (6-CIT), is an independent predictor of adverse outcomes in acutely hospitalized older patients. Methods: This was a prospective multicenter study including acutely hospitalized patients aged 70 years and older. Multivariable logistic regression was used to investigate whether impaired cognition (6-CIT ≥11 points) was an independent predictor of 90-day adverse outcome, a composite measure of functional decline and mortality. Secondary endpoints were hospital length of stay, new institutionalization, and in-hospital mortality. Results: In total, 196 (15.6%) of 1,252 included patients had a 6-CIT ≥11. Median age was 80 years (interquartile range 74–85). Patients with impaired cognition had higher rates of 90-day adverse outcome (41.7% compared to 30.3% in 1,056 not cognitively impaired patients, p = 0.009). Impaired cognition was a predictor of 90-day adverse outcome with a crude odds ratio (OR) of 1.64 (95% CI 1.13–2.39), but statistical significance was lost when fully corrected for possible confounders (OR 1.44, 95% CI 0.98–2.11). For all secondary outcomes, impaired cognition was an independent predictor. Conclusions: In the acute hospital setting, the 6-CIT is associated with 90-day adverse outcome and is an independent predictor of hospital length of stay, new institutionalization, and in-hospital mortality.

Abstract:
The aim of this work was to examine the content of heat shock protein 90 ( HSP 90) in fibroblasts of human dermis from the development until deep aging (from 20 weeks of pregnancy until 85 years old), and defining of a role of HSP 90 in age-dependent changes in the number of fibroblasts in the dermis. HSP 90, proliferating cells nuclear antigen ( PCNA ) were detected with indirect immunohistochemical technique. Results showed that a portion of fibroblasts with positive staining for HSP 90 in the dermis is not changed from 20 weeks of development to 20 years old. Percent of HSP 90 positive fibroblasts in dermis is decreased from 21 to 60 years old. From 61 year, the number of HSP 90 positive fibroblasts in dermis is increased. Age-related changes in the number of HSP 90 positive fibroblasts is not statistically associated with an age-related decrease in a total number and percent of PCNA positive fibroblasts the dermis.

Abstract:
The aim of present study was investigate the buckling pressure of moderately thick-walled filament-wound carbon–epoxy stiffened composite pressure vessel subjected to external hydrostatic pressure through finite element analysis and compare the result with un-stiffened filament wound carbon/epoxy composite pressure vessel used in under water vehicle applications. The winding angles were [±30/90] FW, [±45/90] FW and [±60/90] FW. ANSYS 14.0 APDL, a commercial finite element software package successfully predicted the buckling pressure of filament-wound composite pressure vessel with a deviation much higher than the results of un-stiffened filament wound composite cylinder .All the finite element analysis shows that the composite pressure vessel with winding pattern [±60/90] FW has the higher value of critical buckling pressure. Major failure modes in both the analysis were dominated by the helical winding angles.

Abstract:
Aim: To evaluate 90-day episode-of-care (EOC) resource consumption in robotic-assisted total hip arthroplasty (RATHA) versus manual total hip arthroplasty (mTHA). Methods: THA procedures were identified in Medicare 100% data. After propensity score matching 1:5, 938 RATHA and 4,670 mTHA cases were included. 90-day EOC cost, index costs, length of stay and post-index rehabilitation utilization were assessed. Results: RATHA patients were significantly less likely to have post-index inpatient rehabilitation or skilled nursing facility admissions and used fewer home health agency visits, compared with mTHA patients. Total 90-day EOC costs for RATHA patients were found to be US$785 less than those of mTHA patients (p = 0.0095). Conclusion: RATHA was associated with an overall lower 90-day EOC cost when compared with mTHA. The savings associated with RATHA were driven by reduced utilization and cost of post-index rehabilitation services.

The aim of this study was to examine elbow flexion torque, muscle cross-sectional area (CSA), and leverage in boys and girls. Thirty-eight prepubertal children (9.6 ± 0.3 years) volunteered to participate. All performed isometric flexion actions at 10°, 50°, and 90° of elbow flexion. Magnetic resonance imaging was used to assess elbow flexor (EF) muscle CSA and brachialis moment arm lengths. No significant gender differences were observed for any of the variables studied. EF CSA was directly proportional to isometric torque at 50° and 90°. CSA explained between 47% and 57% of torque variance. Moment arm estimates explained 19% of the variance in isometric torque at 90°. These baseline data contribute to our understanding of factors influencing strength variation during childhood.

Abstract:
AbstractWhile the onset of the breeding season in ewes can be advanced up to 7 weeks following exposure to long days (44 days) before lambing, a melatonin implant from lambing and exposure to a ram from the summer solstice, this advance is reduced by the absence of a ram. The aim of this experiment was to determine if earlier exposure to the ram and/or exposure to more long days before lambing would further advance the onset of the breeding season. A further aim was to compare the ovulation rate and duration of the breeding season between ewes with a normal and advanced onset of the breeding season due to this treatment regime. Pregnant ewes lambing in mid March were allocated to treatments as follows: (1) controls, maintained on natural photoperiod; (2) 44 LD + mel, exposed to 44 long days (18L: 6D; LD) before lambing followed by a 700-mg melatonin implant after lambing; (3) 90 LD + mel, as in treatment 2, but exposed to 90 LD before lambing; (4) 90 LD + mel + ram, as in treatment 3, including continuous exposure to a vasectomized ram from 10 April. Reproductive state was assessed from serum progesterone concentrations in blood collected at 3- to 4-day intervals from 10 April and ovulation rate was determined during the luteal phase of the first five oestrous cycles in control ewes and ewes exposed to 90 LD + mel + ram. Ewes exposed to 90 LD + mel + ram commenced the breeding season 10 weeks earlier (median date 25 July, range 28 days;P< 0·001) than controls (median date 8 October, range 68 days). Overall, the onset of the breeding season was not advanced in ewes given 44 or 90 LD + mel in the absence of a ram, but a biphasic response was evident, with 40 to 50% of ewes beginning the breeding season at the same time as ewes on 90 LD + mel + ram. Ovulation rate was similar between control ewes and ewes exposed to 90 LD + mel + ram (P > 0·05). The duration of the breeding season was longer in ewes exposed to 90 LD + mel + ram (210 (s.e. 15) days;P< 0·002) than in control ewes (158 (s.e. 10) days), with no difference in date of the end of the breeding season (P > 0·05). Exposure of ewes to 90 LD before lambing in March, followed by a melatonin implant and exposure to the ram from 10 April advanced the onset and extended the duration of the breeding season without an overall effect on ovulation rate. The ram is an important component of this signal sequence.

Abstract:
Three MAbs, MLuC2, MLuC8 and MLuC9, directed against a molecule that is produced and secreted by carcinoma cells were studied with the aim of developing a double-determinant immunoradiometric assay (DDIRMA). We demonstrated by means of immunoblotting, immunodepletion and DDIRMA techniques, that MLuC9 reacted against the CEA molecule, whereas MLuC2 and MLuC8 reacted against a 90 Kd molecule related to CEA. The DDIRMA performed with the anti-CEA as a catcher MAb and the anti-90 Kd as a tracer MAb was found to be positive with the HT29 soluble extract, which suggests the existence of CEA/90 Kd dimeric molecules. The same reactivity was found when sera from patients with lung carcinomas were tested, which excludes that this molecule could be an artefact due to the cell solubilization procedures. The association between CEA and the 90 Kd molecule was further confirmed by immunodepletion experiments in which the immunoprecipitation with one MAb not only removed the recognized molecule, but also partially immunodepleted the material from the other.

Abstract:
Short-latency spinally mediated interlimb reflex pathways were recently reported between the left and right soleus muscles in the human lower-limb during sitting. The aim of the current study was to establish if these pathways were observed during a functional motor task such as human gait and modulated by the gait cycle phase and/or electrical stimulation intensity. The second aim was to elucidate on the afferents involved. Two interventions were investigated. First was ipsilateral tibial nerve (iTN) stimulation at motor threshold (MT), 35% of the maximal peak-to-peak M-wave (M-Max) and 85% M-Max (85M-Max) with stimuli applied at 60×, 70×, 80×, 90×, and 100% of the gait cycle of the ipsilateral leg. Second was ipsilateral sural nerve (SuN) and medial plantar nerve (MpN) stimulation at 1, 2, and 3 perceptual threshold at 90% of the gait cycle. The root mean squared (RMS) of the contralateral soleus (cSOL) responses were analyzed in a time window, 40–55 ms (or 45–60 ms for subjects >50 y/o) following iTN stimulation. The most consistent responses occurred at 90 and 100% of the gait cycle at higher stimulation intensities of the iTN. Significantly inhibitory responses ( P = 0.006) were reported at 60 versus 80% ( P = 0.03), 90% ( P = 0.006), and 100% ( P = 0.002) and 70 versus 90% ( P = 0.02) and 100% ( P = 0.009) of the gait cycle at 85M-Max. The responses became more inhibitory with increasing stimulation intensities at 80% ( P = 0.01), 90% ( P = 0.001), and 100% ( P = 0.004) of the gait cycle. Stimulation of the MpN and SuN at all stimulation intensities demonstrated no short-latency responses. Therefore, it is unlikely that afferents within these nerves contribute to the response. This is the first study to show short-latency spinally mediated responses in the cSOL following iTN stimulation, during walking. It provides evidence for a new spinal pathway contributing to motor control and demonstrates that the response likely has functional relevance.

Abstract:
Background: The 90-day modified Rankin Scale is a widely used outcome after stroke but is sometimes hard to ascertain due to loss to follow-up. Missing outcomes can result in biased and/or inefficient estimates in clinical trials. The aim of this study is to assess the validity of acquiring the 90-day modified Rankin Scale at a later point of time when the patient has been lost at 90 days to impute the missing value. Methods: Participants who had prospectively completed a 90-day modified Rankin Scale questionnaire on their own in the Benefits of Stroke Treatment Using a Mobile Stroke Unit study were randomly interviewed to recall the 90-day modified Rankin Scale at 6, 9, or 12 months after hospital discharge over the phone. Concordance between the two scores was assessed using kappa and weighted kappa statistics. Logistic regression was used to identify factors associated with inconsistent reporting of the 90-day modified Rankin Scale. Results: Substantial agreement was observed between in-the-moment and retrospective 90-day modified Rankin Scale recalled at 6, 9, or 12 months (weighted kappa = 0.93, 95% confidence interval: 0.89–0.98; weighted kappa = 0.93, 95% confidence interval: 0.85–1.00 and weighted kappa = 0.89, 95% confidence interval: 0.82–0.95, respectively). Conclusion: Retrospective recall of 90-day modified Rankin Scale at a later time point is a valid means to impute missing data in stroke clinical trials.

Abstract:
Background. UNAIDS has set a new target 90-90-90 by 2020. To achieve this target, current programs need to address challenges that limit access, availability, and utilization of HIV testing and treatment services. Therefore, the aim of this study was to identify the barriers that influence access, availability, and utilization of HIV services in rural Uganda within the setting of a large donor funded program. Methods. We conducted key informant interviews with stakeholders at the district level, staff of existing HIV/AIDS projects, and health facilities in 19 districts. Data were also collected from focus group discussions comprised of clients presenting for HIV care and treatment. Data were transcribed and analyzed using content analysis. Results. Barriers identified were as follows: (1) drug shortages including antiretroviral drugs at health facilities. Some patients were afraid to start ART because of worrying about shortages; (2) distance and (3) staffing shortages; (4) stigma persistence; (5) lack of social and economic support initiatives that enhance retention in treatment. Conclusions. In conclusion, our study has identified several factors that influence access, availability, and utilization of HIV services. Programs need to address drug and staff shortages, HIV stigma, and long distances to health facilities to broaden access and utilization in order to realize the UNAIDS target.

Aim of Study. To assess the feasibility of a new proposed maneuver “RATLe-90” using real-time three-dimensional transesophageal echocardiography (RT-3DTEE) for anatomically oriented visualization of the interatrial septum (IAS) in guiding the transseptal puncture TSP.Methods. The study included 20 patients (mean age,60.2±6.7years; 60% males) who underwent TSP for different indications. RT-3DTEE was used to guide TSP. The proposed maneuver RATLe-90 (Rotate-Anticlockwise-Tilt-Left-90) was applied in all cases to have the anatomically oriented en face view of the IAS from the right atrial (RA) aspect. Having this anatomically oriented view, we guided the TSP catheter towards the proper puncture site according to the planned procedure. Results. Using the RATLe-90 maneuver, the anatomically oriented en face view of the IAS from the RA was obtained in all patients. We were able to guide the puncture catheter to the proper puncture site on the IAS. The 3D images obtained were clearly understood by both echocardiographers and interventionists. The RATLe-90 maneuver acquisition time was19.9±1.6seconds. The time-to-tent was64.8±16.3seconds. Less TEE probe manipulations were needed while guiding the TSP.Conclusions. Application of RT3D-TEE during TSP using RATLe-90 maneuver is feasible with shorter fluoroscopy time and minimizing TEE probe manipulations.

A community is a social group of several organisms based on various environments. Jogjakarta 90's was formed based on the same interests and hobbies in loving the cars of the 1990s. This study focuses on knowing how the identity construction of a Jogjakarta 90's community is from the symbolic convergence theory's perspective. This study aims to determine the self-concept of Jogjakarta 90's classic car community members. Another aim of this research is to find out if the members of the Jogjakarta 90's classic car community construct their identities. This study used a qualitative descriptive method using interview and observation methods. Retrieval of informants in this study using purposive sampling. The results of this study show that in a Jogjakarta 90s community, there are no special rules for each member, and those who want to join Jogjakarta 90s can join immediately. In addition, the members of Jogjakarta 90 feel like members of and family because there is no age limit between them, making the members closer and maintaining good relations with each other. Furthermore, the symbolic convergence in Jogjakarta 90's resulted from equality between members with one. That equation formed through conversations about the '90s cars owned by members.

Abstract:
In Vietnam, HIV-positive population, as well as the stigmatization of this disease, is increasing, which affects patients and staff, thus requiring improvement. Nurses have a central role in adopting UNAIDS 90-90-90 vision regarding knowledge and treatment without risk. The aim of this study is to describe nursing students’ experiences with HIV in Hanoi, Vietnam. Interviews with seven nursing students were performed. Data were analyzed using content analysis. The results formed one category, dare to care, and three subcategories: being careful, managing fear, and creating trust. This study highlighted the importance of awareness of values (visualize stigmatization) to develop guidelines (built on evidence-based knowledge) to transform knowledge (theoretical, practical) through nursing skills that are performed to manage fear and create trustful care for HIV-positive patients.

Abstract:
Background: Elderly people have increased risk factors for low serum vitamin D levels, which is worsened among the black race. Therefore, elderly Africans constitute a reference population for vitamin D study.
Aim: The aim of this study was to establish the reference interval of serum 25-hydroxyvitamin D (25(OH)D) among an African elderly population.
Methodology: This was a cross-sectional study of rural community dwellers in Enugu, south-eastern Nigeria aged 50 years and above, that satisfied the criteria of the reference population. Ethical approval and informed consent were obtained. Venous blood was collected from reference individuals and serum 25(OH)D was determined by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay.Data were analysed using a non-parametric, bootstrap method to obtain the central 95% reference limits and 90% confidence intervals of the lower and upper limits of the reference interval respectively.
Results: One hundred and twenty-four (62 males and 62 females) participants were recruited. The median (25th -75th percentile) of serum 25(OH)D was 56 (35 – 71) ng/ml. The 2.5th percentile defined the lower reference limit and it was 21 ng/ml with 90% confidence interval (20 – 23) ng/ml; while the 97.5th percentile defined the upper reference limit and it was 93 ng/ml with 90% confidence interval (90 – 98) ng/ml.
Conclusion: The reference interval for serum 25(OH)D for the selected African elderly population in Enugu, Nigeria was determined to be 21 to 93 ng/ml.

Abstract:
The aim of this study was to evaluate the physicochemical composition and gelatin properties of collagen hydrolysates obtained from chicken bones under different heat treatment temperatures (50, 70 and 90°C) and times (30, 60 and 90 min). Results showed that heat temperature can significantly improve the solubility of protein (from 37.8 to 72.1%). Degree of hydrolysis and SDS-PAGE analysis showed that the mean molecular weight of collagen hydrolysates at 50 and 70°C were higher than that of hydrolysates at 90°C, which indicating that the triple-helix structure of protein transmitted to chains and subsequently form protein-protein linkages during heating. FTIR analysis demonstrated that the relative content of β-sheet decreased and random coil increased significantly (P < 0.05), whereas α-helix and β-turn had no significant changes during heating treatment (P > 0.05). Collagen hydrolysates obtained at 90°C for 30 min indicated better gelatin properties (melting temperature, texture profile analysis and microstructure) when compared with that of hydrolysates obtained at 50 and 70°C. Therefore, heat treatment with a relatively higher temperature (90°C) and shorter time (30 min) is necessary to obtain hydrolyzed chicken bones collagen with good gelatin properties.

Abstract:
The aim of the present study is to understand the basic relationship between swimming exercise and natural course of epilepsy in animals by performing an electrophysiological study. For this purpose, male Wistar rats were submitted to daily swimming exercise program of three different durations. Animals were swim-exercised for 90 days with either 15 minutes, 30 minutes or 60 minutes/day. Thereafter, the epileptiform activity was induced by a single microinjection of penicillin (500 units) into the left somatomotor cortex. Short-duration swimming exercise (15 min per day for 90 days) decreased the mean frequency and amplitude of penicillin-induced epileptiform activity in the 70 and 90 minutes after penicillin injection compared to penicillin administered group, respectively. Moderate-duration (30 min per day for 90 days) and long-duration (60 min per day for 90 days) swimming exercise did not alter either the frequency or amplitude of epileptiform activity. The results of the present study provide electrophysiologic evidence that short-duration swimming exercise partially inhibits penicillin-induced epileptiform activity. These data also suggest that moderate and long-duration swimming exercise do not increase either the frequency or severity of seizure in the model of penicillin-induced epilepsy.

Abstract:
Aim: To examine the association between opioid use disorder (OUD) and maternal outcomes following cesarean delivery. Methods: Retrospective analysis of over 2.4 million discharge records for in-patient cesarean delivery across five states from 2007 to 2014. Primary outcome was in-hospital mortality. Secondary outcomes included length of stay (LOS) and 30- and 90-day readmission rates. Results: OUD patients were 148% more likely than non-OUD patients to die during hospitalization (adjusted odds ratios [aOR]: 2.48, 95% CI: 1.20, 5.10; p < 0.05). OUD was associated with increased odds of 30-day readmission (aOR: 1.46, 95% CI: 1.30, 1.65; p < 0.001) and 90-day readmission (aOR: 1.70, 95% CI: 1.55, 1.88; p < 0.001); LOS was not significantly different. Conclusion: OUD predicts increased in-patient mortality and odds of 30- and 90-day readmission following cesarean delivery.

Abstract:
The aim – to compare clinical, instrumental and laboratory characteristics of persistent atrial fibrillation (AF) patients with the duration of AF episode < 90 and ≥ 90 days.Materials and methods. The cross-sectional study consecutively enrolled and analyzed clinical, instrumental and laboratory data from 118 persistent AF patients with the duration of its episode more than 7 days, who underwent an electrical cardioversion. Patients were subdivided into groups with the duration of AF episode 8-89 days (n=58) and ≥ 90 days (n=60).Results and discussion. We observed a significant difference between the studied groups by the frequency of systolic dysfunction cases: 2 (3.5 %) vs. 12 (20.3 %) patients in AF episode duration < 90 and ≥ 90 days groups, respectively (p=0.008). According to transesophageal echocardiography data, we revealed the difference between the groups of comparison by the value of left atrial appendage flow velocity (43.5 cm/s vs. 37.0 cm/s, respectively; p=0.020). The difference between the studied groups by left atrial volume index did not reach the statistical significance (98 (80–110) vs. 99 (86–114) ml/m2, respectively; p=0.088). Besides, both studied groups were characterized by the prevalence of patients with moderate decrease of estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) (60–89 mL/(min·1.73 m2)): 36 (62.1 %) cases in AF episode duration < 90 days, and 38 (63.3 %) – amongst patients with the duration ≥ 90 days. Furthermore, about one-third of patients in both studied groups presented with more pronounced eGFR decline (< 60 mL/(min·1.73 m2)): 16 (27.6 %) and 18 (30.0 %) cases in the groups with AF episode duration < 90 and ≥ 90 days, respectively.Conclusions. The groups of persistent AF patients with the AF episode duration < 90 and ≥ 90 days were comparable by the majority of clinical, instrumental and laboratory characteristics, including the severity of kidney dysfunction. The AF episode duration ≥ 90 days was associated with the higher frequency of left ventricular systolic dysfunction cases, as well as with worse left atrial appendage function

Abstract:
The aim of this work was to compare grazing management practices of Mombaça guineagrass (Megathyrsus maximus syn. Panicum maximum cv. Mombaça) based on the sward incident light interception (LI) concept. We tested, when the regrowth period in rotationally stocked Mombaça guineagrass ended, if LI (90 or 95%) affected forage accumulation, sward characteristics and animal performance. Both treatments had a common post-grazing canopy height of 50 cm and were replicated 4 times in a randomized complete block design. Pastures were sampled pre- and post-grazing to determine forage mass, morphological composition and forage accumulation rate (FAR). Nutritive value (NV) was estimated in pre-grazing samples. Stocking rate was adjusted twice a week, and animals were weighed every 28 days. Pre-grazing conditions of 90 and 95% LI were reached at pasture heights of approximately 80 and 90 cm, respectively. FAR, sward structure and NV were similar for pastures grazed at 90 and 95% LI. Consequently, stocking rate, average daily gain and liveweight gain/ha were similar for both LI treatments. Data suggest that Mombaça guineagrass can be grazed at pre-grazing heights of 80–90 cm (90–95% LI) without compromising pasture structure and animal performance provided moderate defoliation severity is employed. Further testing of this grazing strategy over longer periods should be carried out with this species as well as other tropical grasses.

Abstract:
The recommended therapy for severe infections caused by AmpC-inducible Enterobacterales (AmpC-E) typically involves cefepime or carbapenems. In an era of emerging resistance to these antimicrobials, we aim to assess the impact of third-generation cephalosporins (3GCs) vs. alternative antibiotics on clinical outcomes in bloodstream infections (BSIs) due to AmpC-E. We retrospectively included hospitalized adult patients with BSIs caused by 3GC-susceptible AmpC-E between 2012 and 2022, comparing the outcomes of 3GC and non-3GC definitive therapies. The primary outcome was overall treatment failure (OTF), encompassing 90-day all-cause mortality, 90-day reinfection, and 90-day readmission. Secondary outcomes comprised components of the OTF, in-hospital all-cause mortality, and length-of-stay. Within a total cohort of 353 patients, OTF occurred in 46.5% and 41.5% in the 3GC- and non-3GC-therapy groups, respectively (p = 0.36). The 3GC-therapy group exhibited a longer length-of-stay (38 vs. 21 days, p = 0.0003) and higher in-hospital mortality (23.3% vs. 13.4%, p = 0.019). However, the 90-day mortality, 90-day reinfection, and 90-day readmission were comparable between the therapy groups. Subgroup analyses involving high-risk AmpC-E and 3GC vs. standard-of-care yielded similar conclusions. Overall, our findings suggest that 3GC definitive therapy may not result in poorer clinical outcomes for the treatment of BSIs caused by AmpC-E.
