In this work complete methodology for calculation and analysis of fluid flow in air ducts is presented. In order to minimize outlet pressure drop and to reduce the duct vibrations the plates with airfoil cross sections are added to duct critical zones. Abstract:
The present paper deals with experiments using air in three helically coiled rectangular ducts of mean diameters 12.7 cm, 17.8 cm, and 22.8 cm, respectively, made of rectangular wave-guide tubing of dimensions 1.27 cm × 0.64 cm. Pressure variations observed around the ducts were qualitatively in agreement with the expectations for secondary flow. The friction factors change gradually with increasing Reynolds numbers over the range 1200–10,000 without exhibiting a sudden transition from laminar flow to turbulence. At all Reynolds numbers, these are higher than those for a straight duct by 20–10

In this article, the issues related to vehicular traffic in big cities and heightened harmful substance emissions stemming from it were described. In the research part, the effect of air leakage in the SI engine intake manifold on substance emissions was investigated. The manifold was customized to simulate air leakage in each of its air ducts. Same ratio of leakage was assumed for each duct, and substance emissions were measured in full range of engine rotational speeds. A difference in exhaust gas composition was shown for each researched variant, being the result of varying cylinder filling

Ventilation when driving roadways is one of the most important considerations in coal underground mines. Ventilation efficiency depends on fan performance and ventilation ducting system. In recent years in Vietnam, ducts have often been produced domestically. However, parameters of the duct as duct leakage, duct resistance for designing auxiliary ventilation system are referenced from abroad handbook. This lead to inaccurate design results and needs to adjust efficiency of auxiliary ventilation during driving roadways. Determination of duct resistance; air leakage in ducting system have been u

To study rotational air flow field of rotor and complicated flow distinction owing to multi-ventilation ducts of stator in a large air-cooled turbine generator, considering axial symmetry of air supply, an experiment setup of ventilation system of semi-machine configuration was built in this paper. At condition of rotating, ventilation is measured by hot-wire anemometer. Firstly, ventilation in 16 different semi-circle radius is got. Measurement shows that ventilation in different radius varies much. Then ventilation of outlet of stator ducts is measured. The result shows that ventilation whic

Fiber air dispersion system (FADS) is a new flexible ventilation terminal in ventilated areas. It can be used in both air transmission and air diffusion. The cloth duct made of flame retardant polyester is critical. The conditioned air can be dispersed to environment by not only micro pores in the fabric but also slot and orifice on the fabric. The micro-pores in the fabric exist in the yarns and fibers. The laser can be used to cut the slot and orifice on the fabric. They can be designed based on the application. S-duct diffusers are used in aircraft with embedded engines to route ambient air to the fan face. Sizing and stealth considerations drive a need for high curvature ducts, but the curvature causes complex secondary flows that lead to total pressure distortion and swirl velocities at the engine face. These must be controlled for stable engine operation. In this paper, tubercles, a novel bio-inspired passive flow control method, are analysed numerically in a duct with transonic flow. The results are compared to experimental data obtained as part of a campaign at the Royal Military College, Canada

This work is devoted to the development of approaches to the numerical simulation of 3D turbulent gas flows in different ducts of aircraft gas turbine engines, in particular in inlet device ducts. Inlet devices must provide large values of the total pressure recovery factor and flow uniformity at the engine compressor inlet. The aim of this work is the verification of the operability of a technique developed earlier for the calculation of the parameters of a 3D turbulent flow in complex-shape ducts.
