Air quality and energy consumption are among the top ten environmental priorities in seaports as stated by the European Sea Ports Organization. Globally, it is estimated that 15% of energy consumption can be attributed to refrigeration and air conditioning systems in fishing activities. Abstract:
Turbulence and air-surface exchange are important factors throughout the life cycle of a tropical cyclone. Conventional turbulence instruments are not designed to function in the extreme environment encountered in such storms. A new instrument called the Extreme Turbulence (ET) probe has been developed specifically for measuring turbulence on a fixed tower in hurricane conditions. Although the probe is designed for surface deployment, it is based on the same pressure-sphere technology used for aircraft gust probes. The ET probe is designed around a 43-cm-diameter sphere with 30 pressure ports

Purpose The purpose of this study is to detect and reconstruct a fault in pitot probe and static ports, which are components of the air data system in commercial aircrafts, without false alarm and no need for pitot-static measurements. In this way, flight crew will be prevented from flying according to incorrect data and aircraft accidents that may occur will be prevented. Design/methodology/approach Real flight data collected from a local airline was used to design the relevant system. Correlation analysis was performed to select the data related to the airspeed and altitude. Fault detection

Marine area surrounding the islands in Gili Matra Marine Park provides a space for marine transportation, fishing and tourism activities. An increase in number of visitors implies more intensive use of the marine areas that can promote potential conflicts among the users. This study provides an analysis to asses the carrying capacity of several zones dedicated for marine transportation, i.e. ports and their adjacent waters, in 2019 and 2013. The ports support local people and visitors mobility around the islands and connection between the islands and the mainlands, such as Lombok and Bali isla

This paper describes the operational theory and design of a quadri-directional air thruster ( “quad” ) for propulsion of the free-floating robot of Ohio University. In this design, the air is drawn from a central air tank and routed to four nozzles of a quad thruster via a pressure regulator, a distribution manifold, four solenoid valves, and a quad manifold. The pressure regulator is controlled by a d.c. servomotor and the solenoid valves are turned on/off using the digital output ports of the computer. The performance characteristics of this quad thruster were determined experimentally. The

Purpose For the case of Sweden, this paper aims to determine how a range of different infrastructure fees and taxes influences modal split, port throughputs, air emissions, societal costs of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and air pollution, as well as logistics costs. Design/methodology/approach The Swedish national freight model is used to simulate a range of different proposed infrastructure fees, one by one and in combination. The volume of emissions of CO2-equivalents, NOx, SOx and PM under the different scenarios is calculated in both volume and monetary terms, by applying national emissi
