Abstract:
Detection of small moving objects in long range infrared (IR) videos is challenging due to background clutter, air turbulence, and small target size. In this paper, we present two unsupervised, modular, and flexible frameworks to detect small moving targets. The key idea was inspired by change detection (CD) algorithms where frame differences can help detect motions. Our frameworks consist of change detection, small target detection, and some post-processing algorithms such as image denoising and dilation. Extensive experiments using actual long range mid-wave infrared (MWIR) videos with targe

This project aims to reduce the energy consumption of air conditioner usage while maintaining occupant comfort. Cooling down the unoccupied space can be considered as waste of energy. Therefore, a human decoy system is proposed to track any human in the detection area. Image contains depth data in each pixel which can be used to detect the presence of target subject as well as their position. The acquired position data is processed by using MATLAB and subsequently is transmitted to Arduino Mega using serial communication to control stepper motors. The experimental results show that the air con

Detecting objects on unmanned aerial vehicles is a hard task, due to the long visual distance and the subsequent small size and lack of view. Besides, the traditional ground observation manners based on visible light camera are sensitive to brightness. This article aims to improve the target detection accuracy in various weather conditions, by using both visible light camera and infrared camera simultaneously. In this article, an association network of multimodal feature maps on the same scene is used to design an object detection algorithm, which is the so-called feature association learning

We present a fast method to monitor hydrogen sulfide (H2S) in ambient air based on a visible color change. Therefore, an immobilized copper(II) complex of the azo dye 1-(2-pyridylazo)-2-naphtol (H-PAN) was synthesized and prepared in a matrix for screen printing. Different materials, reaching from opaque paper to transparent foils served as substrate. The reaction of the copper(II) complex (Cu-PAN) to the target gas H2S was measured in reflection via UV/VIS spectroscopy.

Nowadays Air Conditioner (AC) has become a more important appliance in our life. Gas leakage, blockage in the evaporator and compressor coil, pipelines as well as dust in the air filters, are the major reasons behind AC explosion. Many people have been injured over the years due to AC blasts. In this paper a system is developed that uses sensor technology and smart devices to reduce AC blast. As a result, pipeline leaks or blockage fault detection system is planned and constructed using MQ-02, TTC 103, optical dust sensors for gas detection, temperature detection and for detecting dust density

Abstract:
An event-related potential (ERP)-based brain–computer interface (BCI) can be used to monitor a user’s cognitive state during a surveillance task in a situational awareness context. The present study explores the use of an ERP-BCI for detecting new planes in an air traffic controller (ATC). Two experiments were conducted to evaluate the impact of different visual factors on target detection. Experiment 1 validated the type of stimulus used and the effect of not knowing its appearance location in an ERP-BCI scenario. Experiment 2 evaluated the effect of the size of the target stimulus appearance
