Abstract:
Thesis (MScEng (Electrical and Electronic Engineering))--University of Stellenbosch, 2010.
ENGLISH ABSTRACT: In recent years, the use of airships has become popular for observation purposes since they provide a cost effective alternative to other aircraft. For this project a lateral and longitudinal flight control system are required for waypoint navigation flight of an 8m long, non-rigid airship. The airship’s actuators include a rudder, elevator and a propulsion system which can be vectored longitudinally. Two airship models are evaluated for this project. A chosen model is linearised

Abstract:
The primary objective of this thesis is to develop a framework to compare the performance of fixed-wing aircraft, airships, and the rotary-wing aircraft in the Martian environment and through that framework, determine which of these platforms is best suited to conduct a series of scientific investigations on Mars. Three Mars mission scenarios provide the context within which the performance of the platforms is evaluated. The mission scenarios are used to derive the performance requirements including the range and flight path to be covered, the altitude at which the platforms fly, and the scien

Abstract:
Historically, the New Zealand rationale behind air quality management has been to adopt an effects-based approach based on environmental impacts. Generally, this method has been efficient in that it permitted emitters to decide how to minimise and mitigate impacts. However, to address the inconsistencies in air quality management across New Zealand born of this approach, and to permit measures designed to improve the working of the Resource Management Act (RMA), National Environmental Standards for Ambient Air Quality have been developed and implemented to establish consistent regulation and p

MBA Professional Report
Approved for public release, distribution unlimited
The fiscal year 2012 budget resolution forced many agencies to significantly reduce their budget spending and adhere to stricter budgetary policies. The one agency that was hit the hardest was the Department of Defense; it was forced to reduce its budget by $10 trillion over a span of 10 years. With the ongoing War on Terror, the Department of Defense estimated in 2010 that the cost of maintaining a single soldier in a wartime environment grew exponentially to well over $1 million per soldier.

Camplin, Giles. "Rediscovering the arcane science of ground handling large airships : an investigation into ways of reducing the risks inherent in the development of a new generation of very large airships and of establishing guidelines for their ground handling procedure." Thesis, City University London, 2007. http://openaccess.city.ac.uk/8521/.

Abstract:
This research, which was begun as part of the now defunct CargoLifter project, concerns the ground handling and support systems of the large rigid airships (commonly known as "Zeppelins") that were built between 1900 and 1940. The intention was to assess the value of such historical information as has survived from the previous generation of very large airships in order to minimise the physical and financial risks inherent in the development of any future generations of such aircraft. The idea was to isolate and understand the fundamental issues that were actually encountered by the ground bas
