Full textThrough the entry of web 2.0 the technologies behind web development has changed dramatically. Asynchronous JavaScript and XML (AJAX) is the umbrella term for different techniques that make it possible to build rich and interactive user interfaces in today’s web browsers. Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) describes how common services can be bundled and published so they can be consumed by different systems.
The company SYSteam Evolution AB, which has requested this project, wanted a web application that shows a graphical activity chart in order to easier view ongoing projects. The goal for this project is to develop a demo platform that shows how AJAX and SOA can be used to create flexible and reusable applications. To reach the goals, many different frameworks and technologies need to cooperate and work together.
This report will describe the different technologies that have been used and explain the different steps in the development job.
The result of the work has lead to a demo platform that uses many different technologies to show a graphical activity chart. The job requestor and the author are very pleased with the result of the work.
Genom intåget av web 2.0 har teknologierna bakom webbutveckling ändrats drastiskt. Asynchronous JavaScript and XML (AJAX) är samlingsnamnet på ett antal tekniker som gör det möjligt att bygga rika och interaktiva applikationer i dagens webbläsare. Tjänsteorienterad arkitektur, ”Service Oriented Architecture” (SOA) talar om hur gemensamma tjänster paketeras och publiceras så att de kan konsumeras av olika system.
Uppdragsgivaren till detta examensarbete är företaget SYSteam Evolution AB. Företaget vill ha en webbapplikation som visar en grafisk aktivitetskarta för att enklare kunna överblicka pågående projekt. Målet med arbetet är att ta fram en demoplattform som visar hur AJAX och SOA kan användas för att skapa flexibla och återanvändbara applikationer. För att lyckas med uppdraget måste olika ramverk och teknologier kombineras och fungera tillsammans.
Denna rapport kommer att förklara de olika teknikerna som använts, samt även förklara de olika stegen i utvecklingsarbetet.
Resultatet av arbetet har utfallit i en demoplattform som använder många olika teknologier för att visa grafisk aktivitetskarta. Uppdragsgivare och uppdragstagare är mycket nöjda med resultatet av arbetet.

Full textWebbens utveckling går i raskt tempo och nya tekniker utvecklas ständigt. På senare tid har en ny teknik växt fram som kallas för remote scripting. Med detta menas att man kan göra anrop till servern utan att ladda om hela webbsidan. Genom att utnyttja denna teknik kan man också reducera tiden för att hämta data från servern och tiden det tar att uppdatera informationen i webbläsaren. Det har funnits metoder och tekniker för detta ett antal år men det var inte förrän Jesse James Garret myntade uttrycket AJAX i sin artikel ”Ajax: A New Approach to Web Applications” som tekniken uppmärksammades i större skala. AJAX står för Asynchronous JavaScript And XML och används för tekniker som utnyttjar XMLHTTP-objektet för att skicka och ta emot data.
Syftet med uppsatsen är att undersöka om man kan göra webbapplikationer mer användbara genom att använda sig av AJAX. Ett andra syfte är att se vilka saker som är viktigt att tänka på när man utvecklar applikationer med denna teknik. Detta har gjorts genom att ta fram en prototyp i AJAX som har jämförts med en befintlig webbapplikation. Användartest har utförts på både webbapplikation och prototypen. Därefter har resultaten av de båda användartesten analyserats och jämförts.
Resultaten visar att det finns en del saker som kan vara bra att ha i åtanke då man utvecklar AJAX-applikationer. Att ge användaren återkoppling när information har sparats är en av de sakerna. Man kan också behöva ge användaren vägledningsinformation då detta är en ny interaktionsform på webben. Efter en jämförelse mellan de båda användartesten uppkom en indikation om en förbättrad användbarhet i prototypen. Det visade sig att effektiv användning var den punkt där användbarheten hade förbättrats mest.

Its Ethernet interface gives it the same possibilities to communicatewith the outside world as any network device. This enables a wide rangeof services from internet radio to acting as a digital media receiver in your homenetwork. These highly interactive services increase the demands for responsiveand visually attractive user interfaces.Due to the cost-sensitive market of IPTV STBs the preferred platform to developthe user interface is the HTML browser as it allows for fast developmenttimes and low costs. As a W3C standard it also offers high portability and hardwareabstraction making it easy to use more than one STB vendor. The cons ofHTML based GUIs are low performance and lacklustre graphics.This thesis aims to find out if SVG can be used to achieve rich, scalable and animatedgraphics with high performance and still keep the attractive characteristicsof HTML.To do this much effort was put into identifying the strenghts and weaknesses ofSVG. The lessons learned resulted in an SVG AJAX framework called TOIXSVGmaking it possible to develop SVG GUIs in the same manner as modern Rich InternetApplications, enabling component reuse to make sure development time scalespreferably with the scope and complexity of the user interface. Along with theframework several new widgets had to be developed to achieve the targeted functionality.As a proof of concept a mock-up GUI was created with the frameworkand widgets.

Web caches are widely used in the current Internet web infrastructure to reduce the network traffic and browsing latency. Since most of dynamic web pages are derived from the querying results of database, they are unable to be cached as static web pages. In this paper, we propose a dynamic web page design approach of building partially caching of the querying results and an Ajax programming mechanism to keep the dynamic data consistency. Based on the temporal relation of updating data fields, we can split a table into two kinds of columns: cacheable and non-cacheable columns. The cacheable columns must have the property of a very longer updating cycle or a shorter updating cycle as well as a very higher browsing rate. Therefore, we can cache the data of those columns in the Website. Cache consistency is considered via a timestamp of cache file to make the dynamic data up-to-date. With our proposed approach, it is focus on how to reduce the network load at the campus network, just like this constribution is a lot of students request their classlist and choose which class they want to select.the data of cacheable columns as a static web page can be efficiently cached by the current web browsers or web proxy servers. Comparing with the traditional dynamic web page, we can reduce the network traffic to the size of data of non-cacheable columns and the browsing latency to the time of querying of non-cacheable columns after the first time of web page browsing.

The current environment of rapidly changing, information technology in response to changes, making business information system face centralized to the distributed system architecture, each system uses different programs, agreements, inter-communication and the impact of heterogeneous platforms, integrate and strengthen the systems ability to become critical issues. When the message continued to increase exponentially, so that users can not absorb and digest, how to integrate a large number of messages required for the content, the more become its important. The enterprise transmission of information between systems with the e-mail, to help users getting new information and saving the track time. However, many users face the majority of e-mail, so that the batch of messages to delete, resulting “To have many information means no information”, as well as the prevalence of computer viruses and spam proliferation, e-mail is essential though, but to separated out in a pile of e-mail the information, there is still the inconvenience. This study proposes the RSS technology combined with the notice, and automatically collect to the user. And then through the Portlet and Portal platforms, users can customize the Portal layout, as well as the combination of AJAX can provide immediate information, and improve the format of the original RSS Feed to send the message to the specific users to send messages to reduce excessive, unnecessary space waste and the difficulty of the operation, to provide users with a more smooth, real-time interactive mode.

Traditional mobile tracking application was used to be running as a typical desktop application which has to install specific software and independent GIS database. Moreover, the user can not use this service on other computers. In this study we build a mobile tracking service on the World-Wide Web through Ajax technology. By this method, users can get the service easily through the ubiquity of web browsers. This approach enhances the convenience of service accessibility. The system could provide real-time tracking service and area aware service. Web applications are popular over the Internet. However, the traditional web applications have generally exhibited limited interaction problems. Especially in the case of location-based service in real-time tracking, the mobile client need to continuously upload their location information to the server and the browser client also need to continuously request the server to obtain real-time response data. Under this situation with continuous request to server and refresh pages , the application will go into slow performance. If we make use of Ajax technology to retrieve data from server or send a request to server asynchronously in the background mode, the web browser can update the specific part of page without reloading the whole page. This approach will not only reduce server’s overload but also minimizes network traffic, furthermore enhancing user experience.

As popularity of internet, web applications have been widely used recently. Since the http protocol is connectionless, most web applications use sessions to maintain the login status. And typically the session system is implemented by cookies. As we know, such a way is defective. In this paper, we propose a method to maintain login status with the cookie value changed after each request. By this way, the users may aware when hackers intercept the cookies and counterfeit the users to do something in the website since the cookies have been changed such that the real users are informed that they are invalid users. So the users may inform the web site administrators that there may be some hackers and thus, the web sites may have better protection.

With the completion of network capital construction of internet, under the frequently wide fast promotion of internet network, make e-commerce get flourishing development, the commercial trading activity in reality, the gradual one is replaced by the trade way on the network, the commercial way of e-commerce, have already been proved to lower costs, can strengthen service, increase operational efficiency, achieve the goal of developing continuously forever. Taiwan steel and iron industry increases the elasticity of the trade in order to save the cost; a lot of companies have implemented e-procurement system. The e-procurement brought the purchase efficiency promotion, the information is public, the origin expands, and all already saw the suitable result. However, along with the time evolution, the system which old has insufficient creates many works all also to have improve, how lets the system efficiency promotion, the simplification purchase the personnel and supplier''s operation flow, turns question which may discuss. The purpose of this research is to use the e-procurement in steel and iron as a case study. We try to incorporate the AJAX technology into the e-procurement system of steel and iron e-procurement system that can provide instant data exchanges and customized interface. We hope this case study will become a valuable reference for how to improve the efficiency and effectiveness in the management of the industry.

As the popularity of the Internet and digital technology flourishes, the trend in applying digital technology guidance to the teaching facet has been growing prominently and significantly. It not only brings convenience to the classroom, but also breaks the barriers of the classroom itself later. It creates independent and automatic learning by getting rid of the limits of time and space in a traditional learning. It brings tremendous transformations in teaching styles and learning models. Learning is no longer confined in a single classroom and the subjects for learning and tools used in learning are not school teachers and textbooks any more. However, most Internet teaching styles focus on the design of teaching materials and the assimiliation of teaching situations without dealing with the more important after-class guidances. To serve the purpose, this paper investigates the influence of applying the interface of AJAX framework development based on Technology Acceptance Model to a carefully chosen course guidance system. Through analyzing the feedbacks of actual users, it intends to understand the feasibility in promoting the system. This paper concludes that male users are more positive than female users toward the course guidance system and induce more significant impacts. In addition to gender, age plays an important role as well. The age group of over forty years old shows the most positive impacts toward the system. As for the external variables, the characteristics of the interface based on TAM positively influence the recognition of the users and further affects the intention of use. To sum up, users of the course guidance system hold positive attitude toward the system and their feedbacks are confirmative.

Full textAsynchronous JavaScript and XML (AJAX) is the primary method for enabling asynchronous communication over the Web. Although AJAX is providing warranted real-time capabilities to the Web, it requires unconventional programming methods at the expense of extensive resource usage. WebSockets, which is an emerging protocol, has the potential to address many challenges with implementing asynchronous communication over the Web. There, however, has been no in-depth study that quantitatively compares AJAX and WebSockets. This thesis therefore provides two contributions to Web development. First, it provides an experience report for adding real-time monitoring support over the Web to the Open-source Architecture of Software Instrumentation of Systems(OASIS), which is open-source real-time instrumentation middleware for distributed real-time and embedded (DRE) systems. Secondly, it quantitatively compares using AJAX and WebSockets to stream collected instrumentation data over the Web in real-time. Results from quantitative comparison between WebSockets and AJAX show that a WebSockets server consumes 50% less network bandwidth than an AJAX server; a WebSockets client consumes memory at constant rate, not at an increasing rate; and WebSockets can send up to 215.44% more data samples when consuming the same amount network bandwidth as AJAX.
