The members of the C & S movement in Ilajeland during this period were highly mobile holding their conventions across the towns and villages in Ilajeland. In 1933, they had attended a convention in Ereke. While most members returned to their communities, a group stayed back at the convention venue, making it their home with the intention of continuing there permanently. The group continued t

Abstract Good water quality is very vital to the productivity and sustainability of irrigated agriculture. The suitability for irrigation of groundwater samples collected and analyzed during dry and wet seasons from Ajegunle, Akufo, and Eruwa farm settlements of southwestern Nigeria were assessed using several irrigation water quality indices (IWQIs). The parameters were analyzed statistically and subjected to correlation. Seasonal spatial distribution maps were generated via GIS. All the water samples from the three farm settlements were found to be mostly soft, fresh, excellent, and suitable

Non-Timber Forest Products (NTFPs) are products or services other than timber that is produced in a forest and of course, are indispensable parts of the livelihood strategy of the forest’s adjoining communities. Their economic potentials necessitated the need for research to be carried out on its production and constraints facing its supply in the study area. Therefore, constraints to NTFPs’ supply in Ago-Owu forest reserve and its environment were investigated. Three communities (Mokore, Ajegunle and Alabameta) were randomly selected communities of the identified study area (Mokore, Ajegunle,

Unlike Lagos Island and Mushin, for example, Agege, a multi-ethnic and densely populated ward of metropolitan Lagos (originally an autonomous settlement, has suffered relative neglect in the extensive literature on Lagos. This article analyses the dynamics of power relations among the various interest groups, personalities and institutions in this ‘ward’ of Lagos since the 1950s. Combining chronological and thematic approaches, it outlines the evolution of the commu- nity and its local government system since the nineteenth century, examines the interactions of traditional and modern instituti

This study contributes to transdisciplinary understanding of the COVID-19 pandemic through an examination of perceptions of public health messages as consumed primarily through social media by a purposively enlisted set of young adult Nigerians. The research used focus group discussions and in-depth interviews to elicit the views of 11 young adults, aged 21 to 24, resident in Ajegunle, a low-income community in Lagos, Nigeria’s commercial capital. The study identifies the centrality of social media platforms to the respondents’ processes of meaning-making, and draws on Hall’s (1980) encoding/d

Results from the granulometric analysis showed that sandstones were deposited in fluvial conditions. The sandstones exhibit a coarse-grained texture, displaying poor sorting and

Abstract Cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) are the leading cause of global mortality, and three-quarters of the world’s deaths from CVDs occur in low- and middle-income countries. Improving spatial access to care facilities is a way of reducing the disease burden through early detection and treatment. Determining the number of facilities to provide and the locations in order to improve accessibility is central to healthcare facility planning. The maximal covering location problem (MCLP) was used in the identification and determination of where to place additional CVD treatment facilities in Lagos

Water pollution, a recurring phenomenon in fishing waters of industrial cities in Nigeria, inadvertently constitute hazards to the host biotic communities and the ecosystem. To continuously delineate the impacts of pollution via sewage outlets on aquatic life, this rainy season study investigated Chrysichthys nigrodigitatus, an aquatic food from Ogun River and Epe Lagoon, Nigeria, both of which are locally channeled for sewage release. Sixty (60) samples of C. nigrodigitatus were collected from six sites each representing a group (n=10), with mean weight and length of 762.20 ± 11.05 g and 42.2
