Diploma thesis deals with the comparative analysis of the satisfaction of teachers and students at the Business Academy in Valasske Mezirici. The theoretical part is focused on summarizing the basic knowledge of the issue and define the main factors of satisfaction. The empirical part is devoted to the characteristic of school and respondents. Furthermore, through questionnaires and an interview with the schoolmaster each study areas are analyzed. Based on the results of analysis are proposed specific recommendations that could increase the satisfaction of both teachers and students.

In focus in this licentiate thesis is academia as a workplace. The aim is to explore possible relations between working conditions, career possibilities and health and ill-health, respectively. It is a case study inspired by Grounded Theory and based upon sixty in-depth interviews with doctoral students and academic staff such as lecturers, senior lecturers and professors at three universities. Both men and women participate in the study, and half of them are or have been on long-term sick leave.
