Abstract:
Water pollution is any physical or chemical change in water quality, directly or indirectly, adversely affects humans or makes water unsuitable for the required uses. This research is concerned with the study of the chemical and physical properties of water in the city of Nasiriya-Iraq and the quantity of pollution by applying the arithmetic weight index. The study was based on the concentrations of positive ions (Potassium , Sodium , Calcium ) and negative ions (Sulfate , Chloride ) acidity (PH), Total Dissolved Solid (T.D.S), Alkalinity (ALK), Electrical Conductivity (E.C) Total suspended so

Abstract A 1-dimensional unsteady flow hydraulic model the MIKE 11 model is employed for the flow simulation of the Algharraf River in this study. Algharraf River branches from Tigris River at Alkut barrage and represent the most water source to cities located in Alkut, Thi Qar, and Basra Province. A flow and stage hydrograph in time series format from the field observations is used by the MIKE 11 model. The outcome of this model leads to unsteady flow simulations along a stream of the river. The model was applied to all length of the river from Alkut barrage upstream to Bada’a Barrage downstr

This study was undertaken by analyzing data from satellite image (Landsat-8 OLI) and geographical information system (GIS) to find the relationship between water parameters and water indices of spectral images. The main purpose of this research was to develop a model for the physical and chemical parameters of Gharraf stream in Iraq. The water parameters used in this study included: acidity (PH), Total Dissolved Solids (T.D.S), Alkalinity(ALK), Electrical Conductivity (E.C), Calcium(Ca), Chloride (CL), Sodium (Na), Sulfate (SO4), Potassium (k), Total suspended solid (T.S.S), Total Hardness (TH

Abstract:
Petroleum hydrocarbons and waste streams have polluted the environment, harmed human health, affected socioeconomic conditions, and impacted communities in oil-producing countries. The aim of the study is to identify hotspots of contaminated water, create spatial risk maps of pollution from the petroleum industry and develop a novel index to estimate ecosystem pollution named physico-chemical risk index (PRI). Ten sites in the Al-Gharraf oil field were analyzed for their water quality. The highest results of the six-month sample analysis were PH (8.7), DO (11.5mg/L), turbidity (70.3 NTU), temp
