Se describe Heliopsis suffruticosa de la Sierra de Sombrerete al occidente de Zacatecas, de bosque bajo abierto de piñonero sobre caliza. La especie difiere de otras del género por tener hábito sufruticoso, hojas angostamente lanceoladas a lineares, enteras a espaciadamente serruladas y pedúnculo gradualmente ensanchado hacia el ápice, características que comparte con algunas especies de Zinnia. Se presenta una clave para distinguir entre las especies mexicanas de hábito perenne de Heliopsis. Al igual que en otros representantes de este género, las raíces de H. suffruticosa presentan alcamidas

El género Heliopsis pertenece a la tribu Heliantheae de la familia Asteraceae. Incluye 14 especies, la mayoría endémicas a México y aún no todas totalmente definidas. Una de ellas, Heliopsis longipes, utilizada en la medicina tradicional, se ha caracterizado por el alto contenido de alcamidas en sus raíces. El estudio de tales metabolitos ha derivado en una serie de investigaciones sobre su presencia en otros representantes del género Heliopsis de México. Bio-Alcamid is a non-FDA approved permanent dermal filler with a few known adverse effects including granuloma formation at injection site, skin infections, abscess and painful inflammation. Embolization of Bio-Alcamid has not been reported and likely represents a very rare complication. Abstract Bio-Alcamid (Polymekon Research, Brindisi, Italy) is a permanent soft tissue filler that has been injected for the correction of contour deformities. It has a number of indications, including pectus excavatum. Infection and migration seem to be the most common complications with this product. The authors report an illustrative case of pectus excavatum deformity treated with Bio-Alcamid. Results highlight the successful treatment of gel migration with liposuction, which has not been recommended by the manufacturer nor reported in the literature to date.

El extracto de H. longipes se asperjó a una concentración de 300 mgL-1 en plántulas de tomate, posteriormente se realizó la inoculación con FOL por inmersión de raíces.
