Abstract:
Complex and chaotic structures in certain dynamical systems in biology arise as a consequence of noncomplete integrability of two-degree-of-freedom Hamiltonian systems. A study of this problem is made using Ziglin theory and implemented with the aid of the Kovacic algorithm.

Abstract:
In this paper we consider four versions of Kovarik’s iterative orthogonalization algorithm, for approximating the minimal norm solution of symmetric least squares problems. Although the theoretical convergence rate of these algorithms is at least linear, in practical applications we observed that a too big number of iterations can dramatically deteriorate the already obtained approximation. In this respect we analyse the above mentioned Kovarik-like methods according to the modifications they make on the “machine zero” eigenvalues of the problem’s (symmetric) matrix. We establish a theoretical

AbstractThe non-existence of a real meromorphic first integral for a spherically confined steady Stokes flow of Bajer and Moffatt is proved on the basis of Ziglin’s theory and the differential Galois theory. In the proof, the differential Galois group of a second-order Fuchsian-type differential equation associated with normal variations along a particular streamline is shown to be a special linear group according to Kovacic’s algorithm. A set of special values of a parameter contained in the Fuchsian-type equation is studied by using the theory of elliptic curves. For this set, a computer alg
