Abstract:
Red band needle blight of pines caused by Mycosphaerella pini (anamorph Dothistroma septosporum) has recently been recorded on Scots pine (Pinus sylvestris) at 14 rural districts in southern and central Finland. Scots pine is the most common and commercially most important tree species in Finland. Red bands with aggregations of conidial stromata on otherwise brown attached needles were frequently encountered on saplings and young trees in dense stands and sporadically on lower twigs of mature trees within 2 m of the ground. These symptoms and signs, typical for M. pini (1), were also observed

In the Ukrainian Entomological society, there is a department that does not study insects. Its members are interested in the insects’ distant relatives, the subphylum Chelicerata, which though less diverse than insects, play a significant role in the economies of nature and humankind. A special place belongs to mites, which are a subject of acarological research. In fact, the economical factors caused this direction of research to develop into a full-fledged science, kindred to parasitology, entomology, epidemiology and other sciences. Recently, our laboratory has identified that supplementation of 3 cytokines, 40ng mL−1 FGF2, 20ng mL−1 LIF, and 20ng mL−1 IGF1 (termed FLI), to porcine oocyte maturation medium leads to an increase in maturation percentage and embryo development to blastocyst. Similarly, addition of FLI to porcine embryo culture at Day 2 after fertilization increased the number of embryos that became blastocyst. The objective of this study was to determine whether the effect of FLI on embryonic development was maintained in the bovine. Abstract Triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) accounts for 15-20% of all breast cancer diagnoses in the United States. Patients with metastatic TNBC have a low survival rate, driven in part by limited treatment options for the disease. Tumoroids, also known as cancer organoids, have been shown to better maintain tumor-specific mutational and gene expression profiles over long-term culture, and evidence is growing that the functional response of tumoroids to therapeutics better recapitulates in vivo response. These improved preclinical models of TNBC may facilitate the development of new therap

Yet, these cytokines can act on many different immune cells. Given the potency of IL-21, we tested if this cytokine directly augments T cells or rather if it enhances other immune cells in the culture that indirectly improves T cell therapy.MethodsTo test this question, splenocytes from pmel-1 transgenic mice were used, as all CD8+ T cells express a transgenic TCR specific for tumor-antigen gp10025–33 ov

Background: CD7 has emerged as a promising target for the adoptive immunotherapy with T-cells expressing chimeric antigen receptors (CAR T-cells) of CD7+ T-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (T-ALL) and acute myeloid leukemia (AML). However, expressing CD7 CARs in T-cells results in fratricide due to high expression of CD7 in most T-cells. While investigators have developed strategies to overcome this limitation by additional genetic modifications of CD7 CAR T-cells, the goal of this project was to explore the feasibility of selecting and genetically modifying naturally occurring CD7 negative (
