Abstract:

Abstract:
This paper considers the use of allegoric tales as an effective means of students’ ethic education while learning a foreign language. The social and psychological factors of the popularity of allegoric tales among adults in recent times are analysed. The place and role of allegoric tales in the youth’s spiritual and moral development are determined. They help pedagogical correction of the young people’s social behaviour, offer role models, promote positive interpersonal relationships, social skills, relieve stress and teach to resolve conflicts. The criteria for selecting allegoric tales are determined, the technology of students’ moral development through the use of allegoric tales when learning a foreign language is described, and some specific methods are suggested: the method of educational metamorphoses, philosophical dialogue, solving ethical dilemmas, theatre forum, etc. The efficiency of the proposed technology is proved by the results of the experiment carried out at a non-linguistic university. Keywords: Moral development, higher school students, allegoric tales, ethic education, non-linguistic university.

Abstract:
In 2008, Allegri and Zhang published a study [Int. J. Fatigue. 2008, 30(6):967-977] in which they provided an exact analytical solution to the inverse scaling law for accelerated vibration tests of linear systems submitted to stationary Gaussian excitations By combining finite element analysis with multiaxial spectral methods defined in the frequency-domain, their solution generalised the simple inverse power law model suggested in some standards. The solution adopted the “equivalent von Mises stress” multiaxial criterion combined with the narrow-band damage expression. This work aims to propose a bandwidth correction to the original Allegri-Zhang solution to account for the actual spectral banwidth of the local multiaxial stress. The corrected Allegri-Zhang solution is also extended to another multiaxial spectral method, namely the “Projection-by-Projection” criterion. A numerical example is finally discussed, in which the corrected solution is applied to an L-shaped beam submitted to random accelerations.

AbstractTranscatheter aortic valve-in-valve implantation (VIV) is increasingly being used to successfully treat degenerated surgical aortic valve bioprostheses (SAVs). The new self-expanding transcatheter heart valve Allegra, from New Valve Technology with its special implantation mechanism, has proven its safety and feasibility for patients with degenerated SAVs, but it has never been used in the latest-generation sutureless SAV. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first description of the successful VIV of the Allegra prosthesis into a degenerated sutureless SAV, and the procedure yielded an excellent postinterventional hemodynamic results.

Abstract:
An investigation was performed to determine whether the sound-attenuation-in-suspensions theory of Allegra and Hawley can be used to explain the compressional (longitudinal wave) attenuation of ultrasonically tissue-mimicking materials commonly used in phantoms for testing the performance of medical ultrasound systems. These materials are composed of microscopic graphite particles suspended in a gel. The theory was first tested using materials containing spherical glass beads instead of graphite particles because these materials more closely fit the geometric conditions assumed in the theory. For the glass bead type materials as well as the graphite particle type materials, the attenuation coefficients predicted using the Allegra and Hawley model agreed rather well with experimental measurements over the diagnostic frequency range.

Abstract:

Abstract:
Abstract Christian missionaries play an important role in the history of the relationship between China and Europe. Their presence in China has been widely explored, but little attention has been paid to the role played by the Bible in their preaching. From 13th to 19th century, although they did not translate the Bible, Catholic missionaries preached the Gospel orally or with catechisms. On the other hand, the Protestant missionaries had published many version of the Chinese Bible throughout the 19th century. It was only in the 20th century that the Franciscan friar Gabriele Allegra decided to go to China as a missionary to translate the Holy Scriptures into Chinese. He arrived in China in 1931 and translated from 1935 to 1961. He also founded a biblical study centre to prepare expert scholars to collaborate in the Bible translation. Allegra and his colleagues completed the translation in 1961, and the first complete single-volume Catholic Bible in Chinese was published in 1968. After presenting the historical background of Allegra’s activity, a textual analysis of some passages of his translation will be presented, emphasizing the meanings of the Chinese words he chose to use to translate particular elements of Christian terminology. This study will verify the closeness of the work by Allegra to the original Greek text and the validity of some particular translation choices.

Stoian, S. P. "UKRAINIAN BAROQUE IN VISUAL ARTS – NATIONAL SYMBOLS IN THE CONTEXT OF EUROPEAN CULTURE." UKRAINIAN CULTURAL STUDIES, no. 2(9) (2021): 88–94. http://dx.doi.org/10.17721/ucs.2021.2(9).15.

Full text
Abstract:
The article studies the peculiarities of visual image symbolic type originating in the artistic practice of Ukrainian baroque. It is stated that ba- roque culture of 17-18 cent. was spreading across Ukrainian territories. Meanwhile Ukrainian art of that period was developing in close interaction with the art of Central Europe, Russia and Balkan countries. Realistic traditions of Western Europe were actively taking roots on Ukrainian territory thus forming the alternative for sacral orthodox art. Symbolic and allegoric type of visual art is mostly used for didactic and educational aims (I. Galyatovsky), narrative ones (I. Bondarevska) and to be more precise and clear it is accompanied by text explanations. Symbolic motives are also represented in virtually all works of H. Skovoroda distinguishing purely symbolic images and fantastic ones. He believes that symbolic imagery is a "picture of wisdom". Emblem-embedded and symbol-embedded books with symbolic and allegoric illustrating engravings become more common and widespread due to the typography development. Publication of "Symbola et Emblemata" and "Iphika Hieropolitica" promotes the usage of these murals, icon paintings, and didactic motives of secular arts. Symbolic and allegoric contents of ethno-national coloring fill the imagery of Ukrainian national icon paintings ("Cossack Mamay", etc.) and symbolically-allegoric compositions of icon paintings ("Jesus Christ the Husband- man", "The Eye of Providence", "Crucifixion with Vine", "Christ in the Winepress", etc.). Also allegoric motives are used in parsuna genre. The article states that, due to the rationalistic tendency influence of European culture, Ukrainian visual art of baroque period moves away from Byzantine canons with their symbolic conventionality thus turning more and more to realistic type of imagery (especially in portrait genre) and at the same time retaining symbolic and allegoric techniques which gained some ethno-national peculiarities.

ELI Beamlines is a rapidly progressing pillar of the pan-European Extreme Light Infrastructure (ELI) project focusing on the development and deployment of science driven by high-power lasers for user operations. This work reports the results of a commissioning run of a water-jet plasma X-ray source driven by the L1 Allegra laser, outlining the current capabilities and future potential of the system. The L1 Allegra is one of the lasers developed in-house at ELI Beamlines, designed to be able to reach a pulse energy of 100 mJ at a 1 kHz repetition rate with excellent beam properties. The water-jet plasma X-ray source driven by this laser opens opportunities for new pump–probe experiments with sub-picosecond temporal resolution and inherent synchronization between pump and probe pulses.

Abstract:
The presented paper is related to introduction of the design and neutronic characterization of the start-up core developed for Gas cooled Fast Reactor (GFR) demonstrator. Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava joined the project ALLEGRO in last decade within the consortium of middle-European institutions. In the development plan of the GEN IV GFR the ALLEGRO demonstrator is one of the most necessary steps. The ALLEGRO reactor is small helium cooled 75 MWth thermal power unit. Its main objective is to demonstrate the key GFR technologies and to perform tests of innovative materials. The reactor core is based on the standard and MOX pin type fuel in the first phase of the project. The active core of a large GFR 2400 makes use of ceramic materials, but in the first ALLEGRO core MOX fuel will be used. It will be mainly to demonstrate the viability of the technology and to acquire necessary experimental data for further research. In the presented works are identified the main discrepancies between ALLEGRO and GFR 2400 designs, the sensitivity analysis was performed for both reactors. Neutronic characterization is aimed to determination of the standard neutronic parameters using conventional computational systems. The results of sensitivity and uncertainty calculations are presented in conjunction with similarity analysis.

Abstract:
The aim – to present the first experience in Ukraine of using the NVT Allegra device for the procedure of transcatheter implantation of the aortic valve prosthesis to patients with high surgical risk with severe aortic stenosis. Materials and methods. The presented clinical cases included two patients of age 90 and 80 years with severe aortic stenosis, mean transaortic blood flow gradients of 32 and 76 mm Hg and aortic valve areas of 0.4 and 0.6 cm2, respectively. Both patients were recognized as high surgical risk patients. Results and discussion. Both patients underwent transcatheter implantation of the aortic valve prosthesis through transfemoral access. After implantation, the average gradients of the transaortic blood flow were 13 and 8 mm Hg respectively. Residual paravalvular insufficiency was mild in both cases. Second patient was implanted permanent pacemaker due to persistent complete AV block. Conclusions. The NVT Allegra system for transcatheter implantation of the aortic valve prosthesis is a third generation device that enables successful and safe intervention of the aortic valve.
