Purpose As a type of angular displacement sensor, the Hall-effect magnetic encoder incorporates many advantages. While compared with the photoelectric encoder, the magnetic encoder nevertheless has lower precision and lower resolution. So, the purpose of this essay is to find a way to increase the precision and resolution of the magnetic encoder. Design/methodology/approach By combining a single-pole magnetic encoder and a multi-pole AlNiCo magnet, the precision and resolution of this combined magnetic encoder are increased without increasing its volume or complicating its structure. In this Chapter, we review knowledge about diffusion in quasi-crystalline alloys (quasicrystals). In Section 1 we first remind the reader of some major aspects of the quasi-crystalline state and in Section 2 we introduce phase diagrams with quasi-crystalline phases, for which detailed diffusion studies are available. We mention in Section 3 the more common experimental methods for diffusion studies. The diffusive motion of atoms in quasi-crystalline alloys can be studied by the same techniques used for crystalline metallic alloys and intermetallics – measurements of radiotracer diffusion and d

The elastic and electronic properties of AlxNiyZrz (AlNiZr, Al2NiZr6, AlNi2Zr, and Al5Ni2Zr) under pressure from 0 to 50 GPa have been investigated by using the density function theory (DFT) within the generalized gradient approximation (GGA). The elastic constants Cij (GPa), Shear modulus G (GPa), Bulk modulus B (GPa), Poisson’s ratio σ, Young’s modulus E (GPa), and the ratio of G/B have been studied under a pressure scale to 50 GPa. The relationship between Young’s modulus of AlxNiyZrz is Al5Ni2Zr > AlNiZr > Al2NiZr6 > AlNi2Zr, which indicates that the relationship between the stiff

Several specialized organisms damaging only one tree species were identified likeP. alnion alders orP. quercinaon oaks. The thermal diffusivities of some industrially important alloys have been measured as a part of the EU funded Intermetallic Materials Processing in Relation to Earth and Space Solidification (IMPRESS) project which is coordinated by the European Space Agency (ESA). The thermal diffusivities of the alloys were measured by the Laser flash method with a carefully designed gas cleaning system to remove traces of oxygen from the argon atmosphere. In the present work, the thermal diffusivity of TiAlNb (Ti46.1Al45.9Nb8 at %) and AlNi alloy (Al-Ni31.5 at %) alloys have been measured independently at R

The groups identified by 16S rDNA analysis corresponded to phenotypic groups established previously by one- and two-dimensional polyacrylamide gel analysis, colony and hyphal morphology, and carbon source utilization patte

Asian pear (Pyrus pyrifolia Nakai), also known as Japanese or Korean pear, is widely cultivated in East Asia. On September 2011, irregularly shaped necrotic lesions were observed on leaves of cv. Shinheung growing in an orchard in Gangneung City, Korea. At 40× magnification under a microscope, the white to cream colored propagules were epiphyllous, conical, scattered to aggregated, and composed of stroma-like bases, globose to subglobose, 55 to 100 μm wide and 35 to 75 μm high with filamentous and claviform hyphae. The filamentous hyphae were cylindrical, 125 to 425 × 3.5 to 6 μm, 2- to 8-sept
