Full textThe Silk waste of Briançon is founded in 1842 and is at the origin of the constitution of the first European group of silk waste processing. Through this company the problems of the constitution of a technical system are tackled, the structuring of an industrial sector and the installation of the markets. The founders of the company managed to impose a qualitative standard which is at the base of the development of their company. The early of mechanical means of production and chemical adoption requalify a product resulting from waste. From 1860, the changes in the origins of the raw material and the increase in the consumption of products of half-luxury, represent an advisability of increasing their production considerably. An active publicity, their storage capacities and the importance of the working capital explain the development of their company. They conclude thus from profitable agreements with spinners. A first phase of industrial merger is followed from there. To leave the privileged relations tied with their customers, constitutes itself in 1873, a European group of silk waste: Chance!- Veillon-Alioth and Co. In 1882, this company becomes a limited company, the Industrial Company for the Silk waste whose seat is in Basle. The apparently paradoxical establishment of this factory can be understood by the analysis of its labour. Pluriactive and strongly feminized, this one is satisfied with weak wages and offers a great flexibility. When the reports with work usinier change, logics of this situation disappear. These transformations and the difficulties of the sector of the silk waste involve the closing of the factory in 1932

Full textThis study fits into the fields of social and labour history. The paths, experiences and lifestyles of merchant seafarers during the 18th century are at the heart of this research. We have adopted here an interdisciplinary approach and extended our questions to other Social sciences such as sociology and anthropology. By placing the actors of merchant navigations at the centre of our reflexion, we have sought to understand what it meant to be a sailor at that time. We also questioned the specificities and permanencies of Sea labour in Provence during the 18th century. The boundaries of this activity are still unclear and we believe it is important to better define them. As a professional exercise marked by uncertainty, seafaring required a constant adaptation by the people who practiced it. To better understand the living and working conditions of these men, and to question the ways they perceived them, we followed their paths, at sea, aboard ships and during stopovers, as well as on land, in their families and in various Provence’s communities such as Marseille, Martigues and Cannes. The professional and extra-professional practices of these men allowed them to negotiate the rules and conditions of their daily work. Eventually, their individual and collective experiences have contributed to the very definition of seafaring at that time

Full textCombining the sociological study of interethnic relations and minorities and urban sociology, this thesis focuses on the reconfigurations, expansions and contractions of the boundaries between groups placed in a minority situation. This thesis draws on the results of qualitative, ethnographic and comparative investigation carried out in three marketplaces located on the outskirts of Nice where these minority groups and marginalized people are concentrated. First, this thesis studies the social relations at stakes in the functioning and appropriation of these marketplaces by minority groups. It allows to understand how this appropriation appears in the sharing of space, their relation and the links between them and their environment. Secondly, the thesis describes the various forms identities are expressed during market and non-market interactions, trying to understand how these commercial spaces orientate the way interethnic relations are organized in co-presence. By highlighting the intersection of the different forms of domination in action within these spaces, the thesis thus explores the multiplicity of minority experience

Schöll, Tobias. "Missionale Jugendarbeit als Lebensgemeinschaft : eine empirisch-theologische Forschungsarbeit." Diss., 2013. http://hdl.handle.net/10500/18334.
Full textThis research study examines Christian communities which are, as community, involved in youth ministry. It is the objective of this investigation to reveal the potential and limits of these youth ministries as they attempt to be missional, and to utilise the results to make more traditional forms of youth ministry more effective. For this purpose, essential terms will first be theologically or pedagogically analysed, depending on the subject area examined and according to the current state of research. Then, the studied communities and their ministry will be conceptually presented. Subsequently, the planning and implementation of the research process, according to the Empirical-Theological Praxis Cycle (ETP), will be described. Following this, the results of the analysis, based on nine qualitative interviews conducted according to the principles of Grounded Theory, will be portrayed. These results will then be brought together with the theological and pedagogical insights of current research on the topic, in order to produce propositions for a missional youth ministry. These propositions aims to offer a contribution to the missional debate with particular reference to socially relevant forms of youth ministry.
