Spätestens seit seinem Durchbruch in den Mainstream in den 1990ern und 2000ern ist Hip-Hop die bedeutendste musikbezogene Jugendkultur und die Rapmusik seine auch kommerziell tragende Säule. Während die in den Charts präsenten Rapper*innen eher selten konkret politisch Stellung beziehen, ist die Hip-Hop-Kultur als Ganzes alles andere als unpolitisch. Sie war lange Zeit eher dem linken Spektrum zuzuordnen, ist nun aber vermehrt auch am rechten Rand der Gesellschaft anzutreffen.

Deutschsprachiger Gangster-Rap dominiert die Musik-Charts und ist insbesondere bei Jugendlichen beliebt. Die Texte handeln in einer bisher in der deutschen Unterhaltungsmusik nicht dagewesenen Intensität von Straftaten, Gewalt und Misogynie. Die Kriminologie hat sich diesem Phänomen bislang noch nicht ausreichend angenommen. Dies gilt sowohl für die Bezüge zu den kriminologischen Theorien, als auch für die Erforschung der Wirkungen auf die Rezipient*innen. Auf diese Lücken im Forschungsstand ist der vorliegende Beitrag bezogen.

Ich war nicht nur selbst als Rapperin aktiv, ich habe in diesen Jahren auch die Diskurse um HipHop und Geschlechterrollen sowie die sozialisatorische Macht von Sprache mitgestaltet. Inzwischen geht es mir vorrangig darum, diejenigen zu fokussieren und stärken, die in ihrer Produktions- und Rezeptionspraxis einen feministischen Zugang zu Rap im Speziellen und HipHop im Allgemeinen haben – was das für mich bedeutet, darüber schreibe ich in diesem Text.

Ein Blick in die Charts zeigt, dass deutschsprachiger Gangsta-Rap dort nicht mehr wegzudenken ist und sich größter Beliebtheit erfreut. Doch die nur wenigen weiblichen Rapperinnen haben es in der homosozial-männlichen Gemeinschaft des Hip-Hops nicht leicht und stehen vor dem Dilemma einer feministischen Positionierung. Nach einer Einführung in die theoretischen Grundlagen des Hip-Hops und in Konzepte der Männlichkeitskonstruktion werden am Beispiel des Rap-Duos SXTN zwei mögliche Lesarten entwickelt.
