Mutation within the human ALS2 gene, which encodes the protein Alsin, causes a number of recessive motor neuron diseases. The ALS2 gene encodes a 180kDa protein, which has been shown to localize to early endosomes. The Alsin protein comprises three predicted guanine exchange factor (GEF) domains, the best characterised of which is the VPS9 domain for Rab5 GTPase, which is involved in the endocytosis membrane trafficking pathway, particularly in the docking and fusion of early endosomes. <p>This essay deals with the results and observations made during excavations in an iron age cemetery in Alsike hage, located in Alsike parish. The excavations took place in 2005 and 2006 and the investigated area comprised two adjacent, but secluded burial-constructions; a square stone setting with a secondary grave, and a stone-built terrace with at least one secondary grave. Health education was implemented as a means of control of urinary schistosomiasis in this study. Pupils in the four to nine and 10 to 14 year age-groups respectively received information regarding the disease by means of a puppet show and a flipchart. The Viking Age cemetery of Tuna in Alsike from the 9th - 11th century AD is located in the eastern part of middle Sweden and contains inhumation boat graves. Here analysis of Strontium isotopes, using laser ablation method on the tooth enamel of the canine and first molar of two individuals buried in boat-graves XI and XIII have been performed. Comparing Strontium isotope evidence with local strontium ratios and variations indicated that at least one individual, the one in boat-grave XIII, were non-local.

The final thesis determined the properties of alloys formed from mixtures of powders processed by the SLM method. Powders of alloy AlSi12 and EN AW 2618 were fused in the proportion 75 wt. % AlSi12 + 25 wt. % 2618, 50 wt. % AlSi12 + 50 wt. % 2618 and 25 wt. % AlSi12 + 75 wt. % 2618. Metallographic analysis, EBSD analysis and line EDS microanalysis were made on the samples. Tensile test at room temperature and hardness were carried out to determine the mechanical properties. Fractographic analysis was performed after tensile test.
