Extruded aluminium profiles with a variety of different cross-sections are mainly used in lightweight structures for transportation means. Examples are stringer profiles in the fuselage of airplanes or profiles in chassis of trains and cars. Nowadays, the mass reduction of a lightweight structure is an important issue to achieve lower fuel consumption and CO2 emissions. With an increased portion of aluminium profiles the mass of structures can be reduced considerably in contrast to the application of steel parts, due to the lower density of aluminium. However, this is coupled with disadvantage

The line is set up with seven main sections: profile loading system, input roller conveyor, plasma arc cutting section, circular saw cutting section, robot welding section, output roller conveyor and profile packaging system. The assumptions adopted to create the concept of the technological line were specified. A block diagram of the line and drawings showing the s

The current study investigates the effect of a hybrid L-profile aluminium/glass-fiber-reinforced polymer stacking sequence under axial and lateral compression loads. Four stacking sequences are studied: aluminium (A)—glass-fiber (GF)—AGF, GFA, GFAGF, and AGFA. In the axial compression test, the aluminium/GFRP hybrid tends to crush in a more progressive and stable failure than the net aluminium and net GFRP specimens, with a relatively more stable load-carrying capacity throughout the experimental tests. The AGF stacking sequence was second, with an energy absorption of 145.31 kJ, following AGF

This study investigated the chemical characteristics of shallow (0–30 cm) soil profiles under shrubs in areas of dense encroachment and compared them with shallow soil profiles under nearby large trees. Consistent patterns of high soil acidity were found under shrubs, as well as lower litter alkalinity, lower relative concentrations of calcium (Ca2+), lower effective cation exchange capacity, and higher aluminium (Al3+) and sodium (Na+) in the soil profile compared with under trees. Soil pH (CaCl2) was strongly correlated with the Ca content of surface litter. These findings suggest that shrub

It is challenging to obtain defect free welded joints of Aluminum Alloys with the help of fusion welding processes. In fusion welding, oxide layer of aluminum alloys penetrate inside, which has the tendency to thicken at higher temperatures, which in turn results in the defects like porosity and cracks in the weld joint. In contrast, Friction Stir Welding (FSW) is proved to be a very good solid state welding technique, which has got a worldwide attraction, especially in aerospace industry. FSW doesn’t involve actual melting of the materials, rather the welding is done at visco-plastic state of

Texture evolution during indirect extrusion of cylindrical profiles of an AlSiMgMn aluminium alloy was investigated in the present work. The effect of extrusion temperature on texture development, through-thickness texture variations and texture variations along the length of the extruded profiles were investigated. In all cases a combined 〈100〉 and 〈111〉 fibre texture developed. Generally, the 〈111〉 fibre was sharper than the 〈100〉 fibre. The texture evolution was rather similar along the length of the profile, while the variations through the thickness were considerable. In a region midways
