Abstract:
Race was a significant predictor of sector of employment two years after graduation for White and Black alumni of a New York undergraduate business college but not for Hispanic or Asian alumni. Significantly fewer White alumni and significantly more Black alumni worked in government than expected from the alumni sample. The odds that White alumni worked in government rather than in private were only half as large as the odds that Whites in the total employed labor force worked in government rather than in private. The odds that government employed Black rather than White alumni were almost twice the odds that government employed Blacks rather than Whites from the total employed labor force. College graduation thus reduced the likelihood that White alumni would seek government employment. For White alumni, the best predictor of sector of employment was major in college. White alumni who had majored in accounting, finance and investments, computer information systems and marketing were less likely to work in government than White alumni who had majored in management or any other subject. For Black alumni the best predictors were the evaluation of curricular guidance (1986 and 1984 alumni) and whether or not the person had a job or job offer by graduation (1984 alumni). Black alumni who rated curricular guidance most favorably and who had no job or job offer by graduation were the most likely group to work in government. Age, sex and current salary were not significant predictors of sector of employment for either White or Black alumni.

Abstract:
SYNOPSIS Using a sample of 2,533 Big 4 alumni, we examine factors associated with alumni's proclivity to benefit their former firm (post-employment citizenship). Based on social exchange theory, we predict and find that alumni who perceive their firm treated them fairly and adequately supported them during their time with the firm are more inclined to engage in post-employment citizenship. We provide theoretical and practical contributions to the literature by also investigating the role of post-employment experiences on alumni's commitment to the firm and citizenship behavior. Although we predict and find that firm commitment decreases after individuals exit the firm, we find that formal and informal alumni outreach activities appear to help mitigate this decline. Although most prior research on public accounting alumni models “alumni affiliation” as a binary trait, we illustrate that the nature and quality of alumni affiliation is variable and identify some of the underlying mechanisms influencing alumni behavior.

Abstract:
The role of alumni in university progress and quality is vital. This study used data from the tracer study application to analyze the relationship between skill courses and alumni employment. The data mining technique of association was employed to find linkages between different parameters. The Apriori algorithm was used to identify patterns that described the relationship between skill courses and alumni employment. The findings revealed that the most sought-after professions by alumni of the Informatics Engineering Study Program were educators, such as teachers and lecturers, with a support value of 18.7692%. Programmers were also in high demand, with a support value of 15.3846%. The subjects that were found to have the greatest influence on employment were Database, Computer Network, Computer Human Interaction, and Software Engineering. These findings provide valuable insights for the Informatics Engineering Study Program to prioritize and enhance these influential courses in terms of curriculum, teaching methods, and teaching materials, with the aim of improving the relevancy and quality of the courses in supporting alumni employment.

Abstract:
Little is known about the outcomes of American Indian/Alaska Native (AI/AN) alumni of foster care. As part of the Casey National Alumni Study, case record reviews documenting youth experiences before and during care were conducted for all youth served by Casey Family Programs between 1966 and 1998. Interviews assessing education, employment, and financial outcomes were conducted for 1,068 alumni, of whom 243 (23%) identified themselves as AI/AN. Few differences were observed between AI/AN and White alumni in demographics, risk factors, and foster care experiences. White alumni, however, had more positive outcomes on most education and employment outcomes. Focused research is needed to develop culturally appropriate practices and better understand the needs and outcomes of AI/AN youth in care and alumni of care.

Abstract:
Becoming an alumnus marks the beginning of life for students in their pursuit of employment. Career orientation is the primary goal for graduates to develop the knowledge and skills they have acquired during their studies, although alumni often face challenges in finding jobs. Competition and problems in the job market are common occurrences. Issues frequently arise in the quest for stable income without relevant solutions. Moreover, companies sometimes view alumni as lacking sufficient experience in their fields, thus limiting their opportunities to achieve their career goals. This study aims to explore the experiences of Tour and Travel alumni in seeking employment within the tourism industry, both in formal and informal sectors. The research focuses on understanding the challenges faced by alumni, the relevance of the skills acquired during their studies to labor market demands, and the strategies used by alumni in their efforts to secure suitable employment. This study employs a qualitative method, conducting interviews with several alumni to gain insights into the challenges and strategies they encounter as they enter the workforce. The results of the study revealed that most alumni face various challenges, such as intense competition in the tourism industry, a lack of practical work experience during their studies, and market dynamics that have shifted due to technological advancements and the impact of the pandemic. In addition to technical skills like travel management and customer service, non-technical skills such as communication, negotiation, critical thinking, and adaptability are highly sought after by companies. Some alumni recognize the need to develop networks and participate in additional training or certifications to enhance their competitiveness in the job market. While some alumni struggle to find jobs in the tourism sector, many successfully find employment in other fields that require similar skills, such as hospitality, logistics, and event management. This research provides recommendations for educational institutions to strengthen internship programs and increase collaboration with the industry. Additionally, alumni are advised to continuously update their skills and leverage digital opportunities in their job search.

Abstract:
The purpose of this research was to identify the various types of employment held by music alumni at one university. We also compare the perceptions of alumni who currently work primarily in music with those of alumni who work outside the field. A mixed-methods research design that relied on surveys and interviews was used to gather data. Alumni employed primarily outside the field held a wide variety of roles and many reported incorporating their musical skills in these roles and they continued to engage in a variety of activities within the field of music. Those whose employment was primarily in music were more likely to have reported choosing to enroll in a music degree program with an express intention of gaining music-focused employment. Findings from this study illustrate that while graduates of music programs do find employment success, further investigation is necessary to identify the breadth of roles available, yet untapped, for music graduates and the perhaps entrepreneurial requirements for engagement in them. Our findings also point to the need for music programs to realign curriculum to better reflect the ever-expanding music sector.

Abstract:
Internships build lasting opportunities for students and provide necessary partnerships between higher education and employers. This study utilizes qualitative data extracted from a survey of alumni from one Midwestern university to examine student employment and educational satisfaction. Phone and internet interviews were conducted to ascertain alumni views on: Employment, Continuing Education, Applied Learning, and Advisement (n = 125). Alumni advice clearly expressed to current students and faculty members the necessity of “networking” with those in the field prior to students completing the degree. Linking current students to those in the field, primarily through internships, was viewed by alumni as essential to developing opportunities for students to network and gain access to a challenging job market.

Abstract:
Previous research indicates that student employment serves as a means of campus involvement. Additional literature indicates that campus involvement promotes alumni affinity. This study proposes that the missing link between student employment as involvement and alumni affinity lies in the students' perceptions of involvement. Therefore, this study explored whether student employees view their employment as an involvement opportunity and the factors that influence those perceptions. Understanding the factors that contribute to perceptions of involvement allows campus recreation professionals to structure employment experiences that are recognized by students as involvement, thereby promoting long-term affinity for the institution. The findings indicate that students perceive their employment as involvement, though to varying degrees. The factors contributing to those perceptions include a) time spent in the work environment, b) alignment with personal interests, c) relationships with coworkers, d) relationships with supervisors, e) affiliation to program area, and f) interaction with the campus community.

Abstract:
Objectives: This study aimed to develop and evaluate the ‘Pharmacy Alumni Employment Experience Questionnaire’ (PAEEQ). Methods: Literature review and Herzberg’s ‘motivation-hygiene’ theory were used to derive PAEEQ domains: satisfaction with the profession, achievements in the workplace, and preparedness to practice. Content and face validities were assessed by 11 experts and five pharmacy alumni. To evaluate the construct validity and reliability, PAEEQ was tested on 136 Qatar University College of Pharmacy alumni and the principal component analysis (PCA) and internal consistency reliability were performed. Results: Content and face validities suggested a questionnaire with 12-item, 14-item, and 13-item domains measured on 5-point Likert scales, and open-ended questions. PCA resulted in four-factor, two-factor, and two-factor structures for the three domains, respectively. Strong factor loadings and high Cronbach’s alpha scores were revealed. The final version of PAEEQ consists of 27 items. Conclusion: This initial assessment suggests PAEEQ appropriateness for use. However, the findings are sample-dependent and further external validation is warranted.

Some suggest there is a dilemma in post-secondary education between the tidal pulls of career- or disciplinary-oriented education and liberal education. A survey of University of Lethbridge alumni indicated that they found their liberal education important for developing skills that are valuable in life and work after graduation. Specific skills the Conference Board of Canada (2000) identified as important for employment success were indeed skills which alumni say they developed during their liberal education experience. I argue there is no dilemma at all and that liberal education does provide skills for employment success.

Abstract:
The Library and Information Science discipline is in constant flux, facing myriad impediments with the development of technology. Per se, the field introduced information and communications technology into its curriculum which has changed librarians’ roles in information handling. Moreover, the integration of the term ‘information’ changed the nomenclature thereby giving a new name of Information Science/Studies, embracing an enormous range of subjects. The present study investigates the previous and current skills of alumni at the Department of Library and Information Science, College of Basic Education, Kuwait. Descriptive analysis of the distributed survey revealed frequencies and percentages data on participants’ gender, marital status, age, grade point average, certificate obtained, employment sector, years of experience, and salary. Qualitative data revealed comments on employment issues, difficulties faced, and the Department of Library and Information Science curriculum. The findings suggested that the majority of the alumni have benefited from their major as their employment is relevant (84%), it is within their specialisation and most of them (56%) are employed in a library setting. The most frequently learned skill is ethics (54%), and the skills that needed improvement are library skills and English language proficiency. The research data initiated a list of skills required and organisations employing the alumni. It is recommended that LIS alumni should be equippedwith multi-tasking skills to work at the job market institutions, and that LIS schools should start offering a PhD qualification in Kuwait. This research contributes to decisions in curriculum updating from the viewpoint of alumni to meet the requirements of the job market. The research is the first study to collect data from LIS alumni in Kuwait at CBE, PAAET and realises their concerns. Departments sharing a similar curriculum can benefit as the research is an initial step that should be regularly taken to update the curricula.

Abstract:
Alumni connections are important resources that contribute to university evaluation. Even though alumni connections represent networks, they have been mostly evaluated as tabular data (e.g. by providing average salary, employment rate, etc.). This ironically disregards all qualities of a network, from which an alumni network gets its name. It is desirable to evaluate an alumni network as a network, because networks have the potential to provide very insightful information. Evaluation of alumni networks as a network has not been feasible in the past due to data fragmentation (neither universities nor companies willing to share meaningfully significant data in its entirety). Recently the feasibility of such analysis has changed, due to new trends towards democratization of information, accelerated by the Web 2.0 user- generated content phenomenon and crowd-sourcing mentality. Utilizing web-crawlers, we actively harvested data and assembled a dataset on alumni in leadership positions in technology-based industries. Moreover, we included a high proportion of startup companies, which allowed us to evaluate alumni networks with respect to entrepreneurial as well as technology involvement. We show that by analyzing alumni connections as networks, it is possible to uncover new patterns, as well as provide a new way of examining the old. Key Words: alumni system, centralized alumni system, alumni networks

As of 2018, it is mandatory for Vietnamese higher education institutions (HEIs) to publish the employment rates of their graduates. Failure to comply with this regulation will automatically disqualify accredited HEIs from the right to recruit new students. So far, less than 5 percent of Vietnamese HEIs have published employment rates for their alumni and there is a lot of criticism and suspicion from the public toward the reliability of these statistics. The ministry of education and training should either conduct a national employability survey or establish an accreditation agency to monitor the surveying process, rather than leaving this task to voluntary cooperation from universities.

Abstract:
SUMMARY This article summarizes a recently published academic study (Cannon, Herda, and Puffer 2019) that examines factors associated with Big 4 alumni's proclivity to benefit their former firm by recommending the firm to others as a potential service provider or employer (i.e., post-employment citizenship). Based on social exchange theory, our study predicts and finds that alumni who perceive their firm treated them fairly and supported them during their time with the firm are more committed to the firm, and therefore more likely to engage in post-employment citizenship. Although we find that firm commitment decreases after individuals exit the firm, our results suggest that the firm's alumni outreach efforts (both formal and informal) can help soften this decline. Practical implications for audit firms are discussed.

Abstract:
Alumni are college or university graduates. Every university desire to maintain contact with all of its graduates. During graduation, alumni typically give their contact information. Alumni typically relocate from their home to a location close to their place of employment after landing a job. Alumni typically don't update their contact information, including new phone numbers and addresses, for alumni. Alumni, however, typically continue to use their study-related social media account after graduating. In order to improve mentoring between alumni and students, this article suggests integrating specific data mining and social networking aspects into alumni systems. This research effort has two main contributions: a framework for smart alumni systems and implementation of this system. This framework broadens the definition of stakeholders to include current students, admin in addition to alumni. The framework encourages social networking-style interactions among different stakeholder groups for tasks including career development and mentorship. In the proposed framework, data mining's primary goal is to offer suggestions for creating connections amongst stakeholders, which will help existing students receive better mentorship; its secondary goal is to analyze the findings from university and departmental surveys. A web-based interface for the proposed smart alumni system has been developed. The prototype incorporates alumni, academic, and student stakeholder roles and enables messaging, groups, and friends social networking capabilities. This system was created using techniques such as MySQL, HTML, CSS, Java Script, jQuery, PHP, and AJAX to deliver a reliable portal system. Abstract Forestry alumni of the School of Forest Resources at Mississippi State University were surveyed to elicit their views on curriculum improvements and employment success in their fields of study. The Forestry major consists of two options: Forest Management and Wildlife Management. Results indicated a need for curricular improvements in communications and personnel management in both options. Forest Management Option graduates suggested a more practical orientation to the curriculum, particularly in the area of timber procurement. About two thirds (68%) of Forest Management alumni worked in private forest industry. Interestingly, more Wildlife Management Option graduates were employed in a forestry-related (50%) enterprise than in a wildlife-related enterprise (about 38%). Almost one-third (31%) of the forestry jobs held by wildlife graduates were in timber procurement. South. J. Appl. For. 21(3):139-142.

Abstract:
Alumni survey responses from a multi-major (multi-course), United States university sample (c. 2003–06, N = 1760) provided a replication and extension of previous research on patterns of graduates' first-year employment outcomes. Compared with graduates from the fields of nursing/allied health, business, engineering/technology, and education, new psychology and humanities/social sciences alumni tended to have jobs that locate individuals in low tiers of features including need for a college degree, salary, and relatedness to one's major program of study (course). These patterns of employment outcomes for US psychology graduates are generally similar to those on record for liberal education (nonvocational) graduates in the United Kingdom. Results are discussed in the context of established occupational constructs such as person-job ft, congruence, career compromise, and education mismatch.

A survey of 501 alumni with disabilities who attended the University of Illinois during the forty-year period from 1948 to 1988 indicated gender is a major factor in the career choices and the occupational outcomes of university graduates. Chi-square analysis revealed significant relationships between gender and marital status (p < .05), gender and choice of major (p < .01), gender and occupational category (p<.01), gender and parttime or fulltime employment (p < .01), and gender and salary level (p < .01). There was no significant relationship between gender and disability type or gender and employment/unemployment. On the basis of this survey of college alumni, one could conclude gender has a more significant impact on career choice and career development than do the physical or sensory disabilities of college students.

Abstract:
This study aimed to develop a web-based tracer study platform designed to enhance the employability tracking and alumni engagement efforts of St. Paul University Philippines (SPUP). Recognizing the limitations of manual graduate tracking and the static nature of the university’s existing alumni page, the research sought to offer a digital solution that supports efficient data collection, improves communication with alumni, and provides administrators with actionable insights for academic and institutional development. Employing a descriptive-developmental research design, the study used the Agile Scrum methodology in building the system and applied the ISO/IEC 25010 Software Quality Standards to evaluate its performance. Feedback from IT experts and administrators highlighted the platform’s functionality in areas such as alumni registration, employment data management, news dissemination, and event engagement. Evaluation results indicated that the system complied with all eight ISO/IEC 25010 quality dimensions to a very great extent, including usability, performance efficiency, security, and maintainability. The developed platform addresses the core challenges of fragmented alumni data, limited interactivity, and lack of real-time engagement. It enables both administrators and alumni to interact through a centralized, secure, and user-friendly system. The study concludes that the platform is a viable institutional tool for supporting data-driven decision-making and fostering long-term alumni relationships. Further recommendations were made to enhance content management features and expand system coverage in future implementations.

Abstract:
Alumni is a vital sector in higher education institutions (HEI) that follows the professional progress of graduate students. It enables university-business connections by promoting and orienting students in the labor market. Today, the digitization of the Alumni sector offers fast and effective solutions for managing the progress of graduate students. Through the application of the Alumni Information System (AIS), many digitized services are offered for Alumni staff, students and businesses on a single platform. The AIS system is a tool that provides a digital database for graduate students, online platforms for database management, and software to interact with employment companies. This article will focus on the study of the digitization of the Alumni sector in HEIs in Albania and the role of AIS in improving the success of graduate students and their career development. In addition, we will propose an AIS model that can be applied to these institutions and beyond. This paper makes a noble contribution to the digitization of the Alumni sector and in particular in HEIs in Albania as an important step towards improving the success of graduate students and their career development.

Abstract:
Purpose: Despite the impact of physician-scientists on scientific discovery and translational medicine, several reports have signalled their declining workforce, reduced funding, and insufficient protected research time. Given the paucity of outcome data on Canadian MD/PhD programs, this study presents a national portrait of the sociodemographic characteristics, training trajectories, productivity, and satisfaction in trainees and alumni from Canadian MD/PhD and MD/MSc programs. Methods: Quantitative data were collected in a national survey launched in 2021. Respondents included 74 MD/PhD alumni and 121 trainees across 12 Canadian MD/PhD and MD/MSc programs. Results: Among MD/PhD alumni, 51% were independent practitioners/researchers while others underwent residency training. Most trainees (88%) were in MD/PhD programs. Significantly more alumni identified as men than did trainees. Significantly more alumni conducted clinical and health services research, while more trainees conducted basic science research. Average time to MD/PhD completion was 8 years, with no correlation to subsequent research outcomes. Self-reported research productivity was highest during MD/PhD training. Concerning training trajectories, most alumni completed residency, pursued additional training, and practised in Canada. Finally, regression models showed that trainees and alumni were satisfied with programs, with significant moderators in trainee models. Conclusion: Survey findings showed Canadian MD/PhD and MD/MSc programs recruit more diverse cohorts of trainees than before, provide productive research years, and graduate alumni who pursue training and academic employment in Canada. Both alumni and trainees are largely satisfied with these training programs. The need to collect in-depth longitudinal data on Canadian MD/PhD graduates to monitor diversity and success metrics is discussed.

Abstract:
One indicator of a good education system is the existence of a system that is used to measure the output of education itself. Determination of measurements to determine the quality of graduates or alumni include the achievement of graduate competencies, the problems faced can be solved, the career achievements of graduates, as well as things that are either in alignment or not in harmony with the quality of alumni with the quality expected by the university. A good and intact education system has a loop-shaped educational system flow. The education system is the responsibility of universities to students, not ending when students have graduated from college, but also related to the career sustainability of graduates or alumni who are more ready to enter the community. College tracer study is one way to find out the role of alumni in society. Based on the characteristics of alumni or graduates of the Education Technology Study Program, the number of graduate data is 90 people and those who enter fill out questionnaires. Alumni or graduates who filled out the questionnaire were 90 people consisting of (70%) women and (30%) men. Alumni or graduates of the Education Technology Study Program have a study graduation time of 90%, meaning no more than 8 semesters, while 10% do not graduate on time, meaning more than 8 semesters. Alumni or graduates of the Education Technology Study Program overall average GPA of the highest respondents are respondents who have a GPA above 3.5. Alumni or graduates of the Education Technology Study Program show that the highest average employment status is respondents who work. Alumni or graduates of the Education Technology Study Program with the criteria for institutions/institutions/companies that graduates work show the highest average graduates work in private institutions/institutions/companies.

Abstract:
The large-scale layoffs following COVID-19 have shifted organizations' perspectives on laid-off employees. To facilitate post-recession recovery and growth, companies are increasingly considering boomerang hiring. However, research on the determinants of laid-off workers’ attitudes and post employment behaviors is still lacking. This study aims to examine the impact of overall layoff fairness perception on turnback intention mediated by residual affective commitment. Additionally, it explores whether company-led alumni outreach activities and engagement in alumni outreach activities moderate this relationship. The analysis of 230 Vietnamese laid-off workers indicated that residual affective commitment mediates the relationship between overall layoff fairness perception and turnback intention However, the moderating effects and moderated mediating effects were not significant. The post-hoc analysis showed that the mediating effects of residual affective commitment were found in the analysis with moderator variables as independent variables. This study contributes to the literature on layoff fairness by suggesting laid-off workers’ attitudes, such as residual affective commitment, and behaviors, such as turnback intention as subsequent factors of overall layoff fairness perception. Furthermore, by distinguishing between company-led alumni outreach activities and engagement in alumni outreach activities, it expands research on alumni outreach activities by clarifying the effects of these two variables. Lastly, it provides practical implications for organizations by suggesting that company- led alumni outreach activities and engagement in alumni outreach activities can enhance residual affective commitment and turnback intention.

Abstract:
The aim of the study was to investigate previous PhD students’ views on the Norwegian Research School of Global Health and its activities. Of the research schools for PhD students, few focus on global health and even fewer have evaluated the students’ perspectives of the schools. In this study, a questionnaire including quantitative and qualitative questions were sent to alumni PhD students. Demographic status was investigated, along with the alumni’s views on activities offered at the research school, suggestions for improvement, views on his or her social life as a student and as a member of the school. A total of 60 alumni were contacted by email and invited to participate in an anonymous online survey. The response rate was 65%; 90% were in employment and a few were seeking employment. All research school activities were evaluated as useful. Content analysis of qualitative questions generated three categories of the alumni’s reflections on their involvement in the research school: valued activities, challenges, and future. The alumni expressed a wish for continued contact with the school. The findings indicated that a research school for PhD students with similar interests should be continued; although modifications should be considered, based on the specific challenges revealed in the evaluation.

Abstract:
This research examined extracurricular activity (ECA) effects on students’ experiences, outcomes and future job prospects. A survey of diverse undergraduate students, along with alumni and potential employer interviews, revealed differences in students’ engagement with ECAs beyond the classroom. Variations between ‘traditional’ and ‘widening participation’ student groups emerged, with older and ethnic minority students spending more time with non-university ECAs, engaged in family, religious and solitary activities. Lower socio-economic status (SES) students spent more time working, and less time engaging in ECAs. Alumni reflected ECAs as key to developing self-identity, social networks and career prospects/pathways. Employers stressed the value of ECAs for ‘distinguishing’ candidates, providing evidence of cultural fit, leadership, commitment, and ‘selling’ original activities. As (university-linked) ECAs were key for undergraduate outcomes and graduate employment prospects, emerging ethnic, age and SES patterns of engagement have implications for persistent inequalities in employment (despite widening participation agendas).

Abstract Introduction: The great changes that occurred in the domain of sports and physical education requested the formation of a high qualified human resource. The concept of sport science greatly supported and promoted within European academic area was adopted also by Physical Education and Sport Faculty of The Timisoara West University (PESF-TWU) that has aligned its educational offer by developing the Master degree program in the field of Fitness and Motric Performance (FMPM). Thus, the framework for preparing a highly qualified human resource, capable to adjust to the changes of the labor market was established. Aim: The aim of this pilot study was to analyze the dynamics of the professional insertion journey of FMPF Alumni. We evaluated the following category of parameters: alumni demographic indices, education level and parameters that characterize the job insertion. Results: The data analysis showed a significant increase of the alumni during the last 5 years with a particular dynamics of age distribution during the study period: 80% of the participants were included in the 28-31 years of age category. The evaluation of dynamics during the years revealed that extreme age categories: 24-27 years and > 31 years presented a constant increase during the years comparing to the most representative age category. In terms of education, over 50% of the Alumni followed complementary courses and specializations in order to increase their expertise with an interesting gender distribution in favor of male group (male: 74% vs. female: 26%, p< 0.0001). Referring to the parameters that characterize job insertion data showed an increased speed in terms of first job employment: 82% of the Alumni were employed within a 6 month interval after graduation and only 3.8% of the Alumni are jobless even after 3 years. Conclusion: The results of this pilot study indicate that FMPM Alumni are well trained and able to adapt to the specific labor market needs in the field of sports and physical activity and education, suggesting that PESF-TWU through its education programs respects the high standards of performance promoted by the TWU.
