Abstract:
The use of technology in UT instructional media allows students of the Open University of Indonesia (Universitas Terbuka, UT) to improve their knowledge and skills without being hampered by distance, space, and time. This study explored the perception of UT alumni and stakeholders about the benefit of using information and communication technology (ICT) and learning media obtained during their study period in UT. The information was gathered from a tracer study conducted in 2008, which was used to evaluate 5 study programs at the Faculty of Teacher Training and Educational Science in the use of ICT and instructional media. The data were collected from 37 UT regional offices through questionnaires to a sample of alumni teachers and their principals, as well as interviews with selected alumni and stakeholders. According to the surveys and interviews, both alumni and stakeholders perceived that alumni had improved in their knowledge and skills of ICT and learning media. However, according to alumni perceptions, the knowledge and skills they had learned from UT were relatively low. On the other hand, stakeholders perceived that the alumni had good knowledge and skills of ICT and learning media. We argue that differences in perception between alumni and stakeholders result from different experiences and expectations on the part of each group.

Abstract:
The objectives of this research were to measure the success rate achieved by the alumni of Open/Distance Learning (O/DL), the Bachelor Education In-service Teachers Program (BEITP), Staya Jacana Christian University(SWCU), Salatiga in their critical thinking habit that lead to their success, and to find factors which determined their critical thinking habit. The factors concerned were student factor (learning motivation, alumni’s readiness to enter ICT community, prerequisite) or teacher factor (teacher’s ability in creating and using a new instructional context). This quantitative research belongs to the causality ex-post facto research. The data source was one class of O/ DL, the BEITP, SWCUstudents, who were chosen out of four classes, as many as 32 alumni in the academic year 2015/2016. Data were screened using a self-rating scale, which consisted of 40 items tested valid and reliable, and then reduced to 5 variablas. The BEITP, SWCU Salatiga had graduated most of its alumni who owned critical thinking habit at a high rate. The critical thinking habit was affected by the instructional contexts which enabled a new situation (Model 1), alumni’s readiness to enter the ICT community (Model 2), pre-requisite, i.e., mastery of previous lecture materials (Model 3), and student’s learning motivation (Model 4) to reach 81%. The alumni’s critical thinking habit of 51.20% was determined by the teacher’s role in developing instructional contexts which made a new situation possible. This finding was useful for educational quality management for the effectiveness and productivity of higher education, which should have been focused on the teacher in developing an instructional strategy based on context, alumni readiness to enter the ICT community, prerequisite, and student’s learning motivation.

Abstract:
The isolation that has historically plagued the teaching profession has particularly harmful effects on novice teachers who need the guidance, wisdom, and encouragement of other educators. In recent years, however, social media tools have helped many teachers connect with colleagues and build robust professional learning networks (PLNs) beyond their schools and districts. In this article, the authors describe their experiences using Twitter with preservice teachers to jump-start their PLN development. Through Twitter, preservice teachers interact with program alumni and in-service educators, and the teacher education program is able to build a stronger connection with their partners in the field.

Abstract:
PurposeThe purpose of this study is to examine the relationship between interactional justice, as a type of organizational justice that reflects the teachers' perceived fairness of supervisor treatment, and their non‐task behavior in terms of organizational citizenship behavior (OCB) and deviant workplace behavior (DWB).Design/methodology/approachData were collected from 270 teachers (by e‐mail) and 22,599 students (by personal distribution) at a Spanish public university. Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) was used for testing mediation and multiple regression for analyzing the non‐task and teaching satisfaction association.FindingsResults show that justice is an antecedent of group commitment that fully mediates the relationship between justice and non‐task behavior except DWB‐Colleagues. Results also reveal an association between non‐task behavior, except DWB‐Organization and DWB‐Colleagues, and teaching satisfaction.Research limitations/implicationsThe researched teachers' job conditions are inherent to the peculiarities of the public sector that may limit the ability to extrapolate the findings in the private sector. The findings provide a more understandable mechanism of the influence of the supervisor's justice on non‐task behavior and, in turn, on teaching satisfaction.Practical implicationsThese findings contribute to a better understanding of the ways in which universities can control non‐task behavior and provide lines to design a more efficient department management strategy. The emotional and fair proximity of the supervisor, eliciting the group teachers' sense of affective commitment, appears as an effective quality strategy for universities.Originality/valueThe study of the joint interaction of justice and group commitment variables against DWB and in favor of OCB, and its consequent effect on teaching quality, is unprecedented in higher education.

Abstract:
Since World War II international exchange and training programs for educators have increasingly played an important role in developing prospective consciousness and awareness of cultural diversity and global interdependence among teachers. However, international programs have always depended on extra educational factors such as political, ideological, cultural, or financial circumstances. As a result, program sustainability and proper institutionalization of program's results that are a testimony of achieved success, are both matters of concern for program developers and alumni. This paper identifies factors and contexts that facilitate sustainable development of international programs and institutionalization of their outcomes. Two cohorts of international teacher program alumni from Russia and the United States were interviewed about the impact of exchange programs on participants' status and pedagogies. The study demonstrated that respondents consider three factors, namely, motivational, administrative, and cooperative, most critical for the institutionalization of international program results.

Abstract:
The process of learning should be good and right, of course, must be supported by various facilities in addition to the ability of teachers to organize learning. The selection and utilization of teaching aids is one of the important things that must be considered by the teacher so that the learning process can be more meaningful and can achieve the expected goals. In reality some elementary school teachers teaching social studies in the Buleleng sub-district rarely use the aid of teaching aids in their teaching and learning process. This happened because some of the teachers considered that to make an IPS teaching aid was very difficult to do, to use these teaching aids in social studies learning took a relatively long time so the teacher decided to teach without teaching aids. Another reason given is that the cost of making IPS teaching aids costs a lot. Based on this, it is deemed necessary to make training for teachers in making simple IPS teaching aids and use them in learning in elementary schools. The activity was attended by 30 people from the Undiksha FIP PGSD alumni teachers. After the implementation of this activity the teacher is no longer having difficulty making IPS teaching aids and is able to use IPS teaching aids well.

In this qualitative study, we examined teachers’ language policy appropriation in the English-only state of Arizona. Specifically, we investigated teachers who received their professional placement and preparation through the Teach For America organization. We conducted the research in 2010 and 2011, a period when Arizona state language policy required that English learners be placed in English language development classrooms, separated from mainstream classrooms, to receive four hours of daily skill-based language instruction in language-specific content only, including grammar, vocabulary, reading, writing, and conversation. Through analysis of interview data from seven current corps members and eight alumni teachers, we investigated whether and how professional preparation shaped teachers’ identity and agency to implement prescriptive linguistic and instructional mandates in the classroom.

Abstract:
The study reported on in this article explored the perceived psychosocial and educational impact on educational communities by alumni of the North-West University who completed their Bachelor of Education Honours degree in Educational Psychology. This programme has been running since 2003 and aimed at training registered counsellors who need to pass the Board of Psychology examination of the Health Professions Council of South Africa to be qualified as registered counsellors. To achieve the aim of this study, telephonic interviews were conducted to gather data from the counsellor alumni of the 2007, 2013, 2014 and 2016 cohorts. In total, 18 participants voluntarily participated in this qualitative research study. The participants’ perceptions were analysed using inductive content analysis; the findings suggest that counselling is an add-on skill for these alumni, utilised only on a part-time or secondary basis, as the overwhelming majority work as teachers in educational settings. The psychosocial and educational impact from a registered counsellor’s perspective seems to be limited as most of them are teachers and only some provide counselling services in the educational environment where they work. The implications are that some adjustments in the training of registered counsellors – from a holistic wellbeing framework – need to be made, as that the category should be intensively marketed.

Abstract:
During the pandemic, face-to-face training should not be carried out to reduce the spread of the covid outbreak. Therefore, online teacher professional development is an alternative method to replace the face-to-face training. In a program implementation, evaluation is an important component to determine whether the program has been implemented well or not. This evaluation is important to determine the effect of this online training on improving STEM PCK teachers. The evaluation used the CIPP model (Context, Input, Process, and Product), with the embedded mixed method research. This research was conducted on 60 science teachers of SMP alumni online training organized by PPPPTK IPA, from the “Sayangi Bumi” classroom. The results of the context evaluation show that 100% of respondents stated that the program is in accordance with the needs of teachers to strengthen their PCK., while the resources used in the program (Input evaluation) were good. The program implementation process ran 100% as planned and the product evaluation shows an increased teachers' understanding of the STEM approach. Teacher considered that the online professional development is very useful for teachers and can develop their skills in implementing STEM learning during distance learning. Online PD, apart from low-cost, can actually be an alternative way in improving teachers' STEM PCK competence and it also can reach all islands in Indonesia

Abstract:
This study aims to document the assessment of alumni of teachers professional education program (PPG) in Riau University on the effectiveness of the PPG program in preparing prospective professional English teachers. All alumni of the 2018 subsidized PPG program at the University were selected as the sample of this study (15 people). Data was collected through the distribution of a Google form-based survey which was adopted from the PPG program evaluation questionnaire from the Ministry of Education, Higher Education. This study found that from the curriculum aspect, 84.6% of alumni said that the PPG curriculum content was in accordance with the needs of pre-service English teachers. However, 76.9% of participants stated that most of the material had been studied when they were in the undergraduate program. In terms of learning facilities, only 23.1% answered that they were satisfied with PPG facilities. 46.2% of them stated that the lecture room was not feasible. From the aspect of organizing services to students, only 42.6% said they were satisfied. The rest answered simply enough. From the aspect of the impact of the program, 69.2% of participants admitted that PPG had a significant impact on the development of their teaching profession. The greatest impact is on the aspect of both professional and pedagogical competencies. Thus, even though PPG is generally considered to be running quite well and has a positive impact, there are several aspects that need to be the attention of PPG organizers for the improvement of PPG in the future.

Abstract: This paper aims to reveal the relevance (suitability) of graduate education is indicated by job profile (type and place of work), the relevance of work with educational background, benefits of courses programmed in work, advice from graduates to improve graduate competency. In addition, the relevance of education is also shown through the opinions of graduate users about graduate user satisfaction, graduate competency and graduate advice to improve graduate competency. As a result, the suitability of the work with the expectation when studying is also a problem of job satisfaction, some feel that they are satisfied with the work that is now being undertaken. The main consideration of alumni in working is not solely because of salary factors is an interesting finding from this study. This can be seen in graduates who are teachers (education sector) with salaries that are still minimal but in accordance with the scientific field. In general, alumni income ranges from one million to three million per month. This is because they work following the district/city minimum wage (UMK) which ranges from Rp. 1,000,000 - Rp. 3,000,000, although many are still under one million rupiah. Some alumni have worked before graduation, although in general, the alumni of 2014-2016 IAIN Purwokerto worked with a waiting period of 3 months. They are mostly in the education sector.

Abstract The article reflects results from a web-based survey of early career teachers who had taken a required, hybrid course focused on sustainability science. Many alumni reported early efforts to integrate sustainability topics and ways of thinking into their K-8 classrooms. Teachers reported modeling of classroom behaviors that promoted sustainability more than implementing sustainability into the curriculum. Read-aloud books and videos were used frequently, suggesting the need for available high quality children’s books and videos on sustainability topics. Supports that were most helpful to teachers included school-wide initiatives, curricular and instructional resources, like-minded colleagues and supportive administrators. Lack of time and alignment with curricula were barriers that hindered some teachers’ progress, suggesting the importance of systemic curricular reform that brings awareness to the Sustainable Development Goals.

Abstract:
As the student population in U.S. public schools becomes increasingly ethnoracially diverse, many school districts and hiring personnel have taken proactive approaches to recruiting teachers of color. The drive to diversify the teaching force is supported by a range of academic and nonacademic outcomes for students of color. Yet, many districts struggle with the recruitment and retention of teachers of color. One explanation for the slow pace of change, especially in districts with increasing diversity in its study body, is the presence of durable and parochial social networks in schools and districts that privilege the hiring of largely White alumni. Drawing on semistructured interviews with 65 participants in a small urban district and applying the analytic lens of bonding social capital, we examined these entrenched patterns of parochialism, and the extent to which parochial attitudes and behaviors intersect with race, to explain the incremental pace of change diversifying the teacher workforce.

Abstract:
Teach For America (TFA) began in 1990 as an organization purportedly interested in working towards ameliorating a national teacher shortage by sending its corps members into urban and rural schools. In the decades that followed, especially during and immediately following a nationwide onslaught of teacher layoffs instigated by the 2008 Great Recession, teaching shortages no longer exist in many of the districts TFA continues to place corps members. In response to growing criticism, TFA has altered its public rhetoric, suggesting now that their “corps members” are better than traditionally trained teachers – including veteran teachers – and are hired only through equal hiring processes rather than being afforded preferential treatment. We analyze Memorandum of Understandings (MOUs) between TFA and regional school districts, TFA’s official literature, and public discourse to address the degree to which TFA is privileged in hiring practices. We provide evidence that school districts are contractually obligated to reserve and protect positions exclusively for corps members, jobs held by corps members are not a result of equal and open competition, corps member positions are specifically not limited to “so-called shortage areas,” and TFA’s partnership with charter schools and alumni of the organization have skewed hiring practices in favor of TFA over non-TFA teachers.

Abstract:
Aim. This research aims to confirm that transdisciplinary projects can be very adequate to develop content and competencies traditionally assigned to Sciences and Arts in higher education, exploring the possibilities of outdoor education.
Methods. The subjects of the study were one hundred alumni of two different courses “Natural Sciences for Teachers” and “Literary Training for Teachers” at a Spanish university. An educational experience around the phenomenon of scientific travelers was developed, focusing on Charles Darwin and Alexander von Humboldt and the literary genres of travel journals and letters. The main activity contained three phases, including indoor and outdoor education, in which both subjects tackled the same 6 educational topics from a different perspective. After different individual and group activities around those topics, alumni from both subjects merged at a natural environment where a scientific-literary tour took place. At the end of the academic year, an assessment questionnaire with open and closed questions was filled out by all participants.
Results and conclusion. After the analysis of all the collected data, we can deduce that the experience was a success. The students appreciated aspects like the setting in which the experience took place, the possibility of interacting with alumni from different courses and the integration of Sciences and Arts. Thus, we have demonstrated that the same activities can be implemented in prototypical subjects of Sciences and Arts and that outdoor education is an ideal resource to achieve a holistic pedagogy engaging the sensory and emotional facets of learning.

Abstract:
Aim. The aim of this work is to present a qualitative analysis of the creative educational materials prepared by preservice teachers in the context of an educational experience around a museum exhibition about Science and Literature, described in a previous work (Authors, 2020). The responses to a final questionnaire about interdisciplinarity, integration of Sciences and Arts or the use of museums for children’s education are also analysed.
Methods. The participants were 121 alumni of two different subjects “Natural Sciences for teachers” and “Literary training for teachers” at a Spanish university. Preservice teachers had to select an item of the museum exhibition and, as a group, prepare a catalogue intended for children, where they had to write a short text related to the object and activities for children in an exercise of didactic transposition. The students generated teaching materials with a high component of creativity and a multimodal approach, with a mixture of linguistic and non-linguistic codes. The qualitative analysis of these creative teaching materials was carried out with Atlas.ti v8. To assess the experience a questionnaire about different aspects of the proposal was completed by the students at the end of the semester.
Results and conclusion. The analysis of the teaching materials demonstrates differences between the alumni attending both subjects in the type of items selected, the literary genre of the short text and the prepared activities. The responses to the final questionnaire give us an insight on the reasons for the item selection and show how most of the students considered the experience as very interesting and formative. We can conclude that the educational experience here described served as an exercise to internalise the benefits of this method and, at the same time, adapt it for their future students in Primary Education.

Abstract:
The purpose of this study is to compare music studio teachers’ ( n = 622) and K–12 music teachers’ ( n = 976) perceptions of the extent to which their postsecondary education helped them develop selected professional skills and abilities, perceptions of how important those same selected skills and abilities are for teaching, and job satisfaction. Data are from the 2011, 2012, and 2013 administrations of the Strategic National Arts Alumni Project survey. Respondents indicated the following skills were very important to their work: relationship building (Studio: 81.3%; K–12: 75.7%), leadership skills (Studio: 71.6%; K–12: 89.3%), project management (Studio: 65.1%; K–12: 74.8%), persuasive speaking (Studio: 63.4%; K–12: 74.2%), clear writing (Studio: 51.5%; K–12: 63.4%), creative thinking (Studio: 88.7%; K–12: 91.4%), taking feedback (Studio: 78.8%; K–12: 81.2%), broad knowledge and education (Studio: 80.1%; K–12: 91.0%), and critical thinking (Studio: 64.3%; K–12: 76.4%). Fewer than 50% of respondents felt their institutions had helped them develop project management, persuasive speaking, clear writing, and critical thinking skills. The most substantial differences were financial, business, and entrepreneurial skills, indicating that studio teachers perceive these skills as important to their work. Studio teachers were less satisfied with job security but more satisfied with work-life balance than K–12 teachers.

Using a qualitative approach with the method of case study, this study focused on Madrasah Pattani, with the head of madrasa, one teacher, and three alumni as informants. Interviews were conducted with FGD to find out the extent of leadership in Pattani Madrasas during the conflict. The results were found that in hard conditions, the madrasa could develop a strong madrasa vision by adopting a modern curriculum and integrate it with the Islamic curriculum of Islam. Although this method has been opposed to the entry of Buddhist teachers, the head of madrasah neutralise by making several activities to create social cohesion and build cooperation with universities abroad. Abstract:
This study aims to analyze and map the role of pesantren in social aspects and religious development in its relevance to local culture and global dynamics. The study design used a qualitative approach with a number of selected informants. The research location was in the Nurul Junaidiyah Lauwo Luwu Timur Islamic boarding school which was one of the pesantren that developed in the Tana Luwu area of South Sulawesi. The results of the study showed that the Islamic Boarding School Nurul Junaidiyah had carried out a role in the social field, namely holding formal education, accommodating santri from poor families, organizing economic empowerment activities through cooperatives. In the aspect of religious development, the Pesantren Junaidiyah Lauwo became a pioneer of moderate Islamic da'wah involving Kyai, Caregivers, Teachers, santri and alumni. Along with the global dynamics, it is necessary to increase the role of pesantren through cooperation with alumni ties, government, and other institutions. In the aspect of religious development, the Nurul Junaidiyah Islamic Boarding School has made good contributions, especially in printing the memorization of the Koran, but the social aspects need to improve social programs such as fostering orphans, fostering converts and or establishing ulema cadre centers (ma'had aly).

Abstract:
Trust is the essence of social capital. The Al-Azhar Islamic Boarding School Foundation (YPI) as an educational institution requires trust to survive and develop until now. As a religion-based foundation, the work ethic of employees is expected to be able to follow the religious norms that have been established so as to become a character for the institution. This research uses descriptive and exploratory approaches so that the researcher can clearly describe the concepts used in this research in detail. While the data was collected through observation and interviews from supervisors, administrators, supervisors, teachers, employees, alumni and the parents of YPI Al-Azhar. The results showed that employees and teachers at work prioritized service and honor than indicators of worship and trust. Employees at work are generally still transactional and pragmatic. So that the religious socio-religious capital, grace and sincerity that were imparted and inherited by the founders of Al-Azhar have not yet become the soul of the employees at work.
