Abstract:

The genus Alyxia Banks ex R.Br. is partially revised for New Caledonia, with 31 species recognised. The species complex Alyxia tisserantii Montrouz. is discussed and divided into seven species with existing names, and the synonymy is updated accordingly. Alyxia loeseneriana var. macrocarpa Boiteau is elevated to species status due to new flowering material with the name A. paniensis Lannuzel nom. nov., stat. nov. created to accommodate it, due to the preexisting Alyxia macrocarpa Koord. The genus Alyxia Banks ex R. Br. is revised for Australia. Seven species are recognised, namely A. buxifolia R. Br., A. grandis sp. nov., A. ilicifolia F. Muell., A. orophila Domin, A. ruscifolia R. Br., A. sharpei sp. nov. and A. spicata R. Br. Alyxia ruscifolia has three subspecies with subsp. major and subsp. tropica newly described. Alyxia ilicifolia has two subspecies with subsp. magnifolia comb. & stat. nov. based on A. magnifolia Bailey. Generic and specific descriptions, a key to species, notes on typification, variation, distribution, ecology and conservation status are provided.

A new macrolactone glycoside, lecythomycin (1), 23-methyl-3-(1- O-mannosyl)-oxacyclotetracosan-1-one, was isolated from the endophytic fungus Lecythophora sp. (code 30.1), an endopyte of the Indonesian plant Alyxia reinwardtii. The structure of 1 was elucidated on the basis of NMR spectroscopic and mass spectrometric data. The isolated compound displayed antifungal activity against strains of Aspergillus fumigatus and Candida kruzei at minimal inhibitory concentrations (MIC) of 62.5 – 125 μg/mL.

Abstract:

In the genus Alysia Latreille, 1804 (Braconidae: Alysiinae), a new species, Alysia erecta sp. nov., and two new records, Alysia hebeiensis Zhu, van Achterberg & Chen, 2018 and A. sirin Belokobylskij, 1998, are described and illustrated. In addition, the DNA barcode region of the mitochondrial subunit I (COI) of these species have been sequenced. An identification key for all Alysia species officially recorded from Korea is provided.

Six new species of Alysia Latreille are described and illustrated from China, i.e., Alysia hebeiensis sp. n., A. macularis sp. n., A. melasoma sp. n., A. polita sp. n., A. sparsa sp. n., and A. stenopos sp. n. Also, six species are reported as new to China: Alysia incongrua Nees, 1834, A. lucia Haliday, 1838, A. lucicola Haliday, 1838, A. sirin Belokobylskij, 1998, A. umbrata Stelfox, 1941 and A. vladik Belokobylskij, 1998. A key to the known species of Alysia Latreille from China is provided.

Falsirhodobacter sp. alg1 expresses two alginate lyases, AlyFRA and AlyFRB, to produce the linear monosaccharide 4-deoxy-L-erythro-5-hexoseulose uronic acid (DEH) from alginate, metabolizing it to pyruvate. In this study, we prepared recombinant AlyFRA and AlyFRB and their immobilized enzymes and investigated DEH production. Purified AlyFRA and AlyFRB reacted with sodium alginate and yielded approximately 96.8% DEH.
