Atmospheres have a diffuse, ungraspable nature that make them problematic to represent. Diverse artistic manifestations have relentlessly tried to grasp air infused with properties. Ether is the concept chosen to test the way the history of atmospheric representation was initiated; a cultural artefact whose representation permeates our present imaginary. Such substance has been the image of sensual assimilation, of psychological life and complex ambient effects. Before ambient was subject to technical representation, images of air within can be called ‘a state of animation’ opened up the ways of seeing and producing ambients. Several case studies are analysed as a useful vehicle for atmospheric representation. Two main strategies have been identified. The first one is the representation of chance, ambiguity and openness, the creation of conditions to let atmospheres leave its accidental traces. The second consists in the precise distribution in space of particles or discrete elements whose initial position is irritated by diverse agents. Both are still recognisable in our days.

Volatile organic compounds (VOCs) play an important role in the generation of ground level ozone and secondary organic aerosol. Most tropical countries such as Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Brunei experience high ozone pollution. Beside ozone, oxides of nitrogen (NOx) from vehicular emissions also play an important role in photochemical pollution. NOx, particularly nitric oxide (NO), helps to ‘clean up’ ozone concentrations close to traffic in the ambient air of urban areas. Thus, knowledge of the chemistry of ozone-VOCs-NOx and finding the sources of VOCs are crucial to proceed with an appropriate mitigation strategy. Thus, the detection of ozone precursors and related VOCs is thoroughly discussed. This review finds that the inertness, hydrophobicity, and the effect of the artefact materials are very significant factors to be explored in the selection of the sorbent materials. In the SEA region, relative humidity is relatively high and exceeds 90% during the northeast monsoon. Thus, the hydrophobic properties of the sampling material need careful consideration. Further to the effect of relative humidity (RH), the artefact effect of the material itself is a challenge to be optimized and multi-sorbent material in a single tube could be a viable choice to minimize the effect of the unwanted signal in the spectrum.

Abstract. A fast-growing area of research is the development of low-cost sensors for measuring air pollutants. The affordability and size of low-cost particle sensors makes them an attractive option for use in experiments requiring a number of instruments such as high-density spatial mapping. However, for these low-cost sensors to be useful for these types of studies their accuracy and precision need to be quantified. We evaluated the Alphasense OPC-N2, a promising low-cost miniature optical particle counter, for monitoring ambient airborne particles at typical urban background sites in the UK. The precision of the OPC-N2 was assessed by co-locating 14 instruments at a site to investigate the variation in measured concentrations. Comparison to two different reference optical particle counters as well as a TEOM-FDMS enabled the accuracy of the OPC-N2 to be evaluated. Comparison of the OPC-N2 to the reference optical instruments shows some limitations for measuring mass concentrations of PM1, PM2.5 and PM10. The OPC-N2 demonstrated a significant positive artefact in measured particle mass during times of high ambient RH (> 85 %) and a calibration factor was developed based upon κ-Köhler theory, using average bulk particle aerosol hygroscopicity. Application of this RH correction factor resulted in the OPC-N2 measurements being within 33 % of the TEOM-FDMS, comparable to the agreement between a reference optical particle counter and the TEOM-FDMS (20 %). Inter-unit precision for the 14 OPC-N2 sensors of 22 ± 13 % for PM10 mass concentrations was observed. Overall, the OPC-N2 was found to accurately measure ambient airborne particle mass concentration provided they are (i) correctly calibrated and (ii) corrected for ambient RH. The level of precision demonstrated between multiple OPC-N2s suggests that they would be suitable devices for applications where the spatial variability in particle concentration was to be determined.

Statistical treatment of data from thermal-optical, 14C and organic tracer analysis using Latin Hypercube Sampling has allowed for quantitative estimates of seven different sources contributing to the ambient carbonaceous aerosol. These are: elemental carbon from combustion of biomass (ECbb) and fossil fuel (ECff), organic carbon from combustion of biomass (OCbb), fossil fuel (OCff), primary biological aerosol particles (OCPBAP, which includes plant debris, OCpbc, and fungal spores, OCpbs), and secondary organic aerosol from biogenic precursors (OCBSOA). Our results show that emissions from natural sources were particularly abundant in summer, and with a more pronounced influence at the rural compared to the urban background site. 80% of total carbon (TCp, corrected for the positive artefact) in PM10 and 70% of TCp in PM1 could be attributed to natural sources at the rural background site in summer. Natural sources account for about 50% of TCp in PM10 at the urban background site as well. The natural source contribution was always dominated by OCBSOA, regardless of season, site and size fraction. During winter anthropogenic sources totally dominated the carbonaceous aerosol (83–90%). Combustion of biomass contributed slightly more than fossil-fuel sources in winter, whereas emissions from fossil-fuel sources were more abundant in summer. Mass closure calculations show that PCM likely dominated the mass concentration of the ambient PM regardless of size fraction, season, and site. A larger fraction of PM1 (64–69%) was accounted for by carbonaceous matter compared to PM10 (51–67%), but only by a small margin. In general, there were no pronounced differences in the relative contribution of carbonaceous matter to PM with respect to season or between the two sites.

Abstract. Little is known regarding levels and source strength of carbonaceous aerosols in Scandinavia. In the present study, ambient aerosol (PM10 and PM2.5) concentrations of elemental carbon (EC), organic carbon (OC), water-insoluble organic carbon (WINSOC), and water-soluble organic carbon (WSOC) are reported for a curbside site, an urban background site, and a suburban site in Norway in order to investigate their spatial and seasonal variations. Aerosol filter samples were collected using tandem filter sampling to correct for the positive sampling artefact introduced by semi volatile OC. Analyses were performed using the thermal optical transmission (TOT) instrument from Sunset Lab Inc., which corrects for charring during analysis. Finally, we estimated the relative contribution of OC from wood burning based on the samples content of levoglucosan. Levels of EC varied by more than one order of magnitude between sites, likely due to the higher impact of vehicular traffic at the curbside and the urban background sites. In winter, the level of particulate organic carbon (OCp) at the suburban site was equal to (for PM10) or even higher (for PM2.5) than the levels observed at the curbside and the urban background sites. This finding was attributed to the impact of residential wood burning at the suburban site in winter, which was confirmed by a high mean concentration of levoglucosan (407 ng m−3). This finding indicates that exposure to primary combustion derived OCp could be equally high in residential areas as in a city center. It is demonstrated that OCp from wood burning (OCwood) accounted for almost all OCp at the suburban site in winter, allowing a new estimate of the ratio TCp/levoglucosan for both PM10 and PM2.5. Particulate carbonaceous material (PCM = Organic matter + Elemental matter) accounted for 46–83% of PM10 at the sites studied when considering the positive artefact of semi volatile OC, thus being the major contributor to PM.

Abstract. Measurements of aerosol properties were made in aged polluted and clean background air masses encountered at the North Norfolk (UK) coastline during the second field campaign of the Tropospheric ORganic CHemistry project (TORCH2) in May 2004. Hygroscopic growth factor (GF) measurements were performed at 90% relative humidity (RH) for D0=27–217 nm particles using a Hygroscopicity Tandem Differential Mobility Analyser (HTDMA), while the aerosol composition was simultaneously measured with an Aerodyne aerosol mass spectrometer (Q-AMS). During the clean background events the aerosol was characterised by little size dependence of properties with generally large GFs and inorganic sulphate being the dominant compound. In aged polluted air masses the particles were dominated by inorganic sulphate and nitrate at larger sizes, whereas organics were the largest fraction in smaller particles, thus explaining the trend of smaller GFs at smaller sizes. Organics do contribute to the hygroscopic growth, particularly at small sizes, but generally the dominant contribution to growth at 90% RH comes from inorganic salts. The ZSR mixing rule was used to predict GFs based on the chemical composition, theoretical GFs of pure inorganic salts and a "bulk" GF of ~1.20 for the organics. Good quantitative closure with HTDMA measurements as a function of both particle size and time was achieved in the absence of nitrate. However, GFs were clearly overpredicted at times when a significant fraction of nitrate was present. After careful considerations we attribute the overprediction to substantial evaporation losses of ammonium nitrate in the HTDMA instrument. If true, this implies that the ZSR predictions based on composition might be more representative of the actual "bulk" behaviour of undisturbed ambient particles than the HTDMA measurements. The simplified model approach using the ZSR rule and a constant organic growth factor made high size and time resolution possible, which has proven to be essential for a valid closure study. The ZSR mixing rule appears to be sufficiently accurate, as the GF predictions are more sensitive to the exact GFs of the inorganic compounds than to the growth factor of the moderately hygroscopic organics. Therefore a more detailed analysis and modelling of the organic fraction at the expense of time and size resolution is not worth the effort for an aged aerosol and discrepancies in either direction might even be cancelled out by averaging.

Low cost pollution sensors have been widely publicized, in principle offering increased information on the distribution of air pollution and a democratization of air quality measurements to amateur users. We report a laboratory study of commonly-used electrochemical sensors and quantify a number of cross-interferences with other atmospheric chemicals, some of which become significant at typical suburban air pollution concentrations. We highlight that artefact signals from co-sampled pollutants such as CO<sub>2</sub> can be greater than the electrochemical sensor signal generated by the measurand. We subsequently tested in ambient air, over a period of three weeks, twenty identical commercial sensor packages alongside standard measurements and report on the degree of agreement between references and sensors. We then explore potential experimental approaches to improve sensor performance, enhancing outputs from qualitative to quantitative, focusing on low cost VOC photoionization sensors. Careful signal handling, for example, was seen to improve limits of detection by one order of magnitude. The quantity, magnitude and complexity of analytical interferences that must be characterised to convert a signal into a quantitative observation, with known uncertainties, make standard individual parameter regression inappropriate. We show that one potential solution to this problem is the application of supervised machine learning approaches such as boosted regression trees and Gaussian processes emulation.

This thesis aims to explore how to shape proactive interactions between ambient artefacts and humans. Where ambient artefacts are represented by smart personal assistants and interactive tabletop robots. The conducted research is of explorative nature, relying on a critical and speculative design approach. Key aspects and their influence in shaping proactivity were identified. Insights upon different means of feedback, namely coloured light, motion and sound are discussed in connection with the spatial placement of a proactive artefact and the provided user experience. The notion of gaining versus losing control to an artefact is presented and a reflection on the concept of annoyance as a design material. A proactive system featuring a collection of physical and digital interactive artefacts was created as part of this research. Insights and conclusions are based on conducted interviews after user-testing those artefacts.

Doutoramento em Informação e Comunicação em Plataformas Digitais<br>Recentemente assistimos a uma evolução da relação do Homem com a tecnologia, em larga medida acompanhada por novos modelos de interacção que modificam a forma de conceber os artefactos e constroem novos contextos de uso. Procuramos investigar, na presente tese, uma das abordagens emergentes, o universo dos media tangíveis, articulando a perspectiva do design da tecnologia orientada para a Human-Computer Interation (HCI), com a dimensão social, cultural e estética no uso da tecnologia.
Os media tangíveis, ao contrário do que sucede com os conteúdos digitais convencionais, têm espessura e expressão física e, porque são dotados de um corpo que habita o espaço das disposições físicas, estão sujeitos à acção do mundo cultural e das práticas sociais que regem os demais objectos físicos que podemos encontrar no nosso quotidiano. Esta nova relação com a tecnologia digital obrigará as disciplinas que se encontram mais próximas do desenvolvimento tecnológico, tais como o Design de Interacção e a HCI, a abrirem-se aos contributos e abordagens das ciências humanas. Admitindo que a natureza subjacente ao processo da adaptabilidade no ambiente doméstico altera o equilíbrio da relação entre o design e o uso da tecnologia, julgamos ser essencial o desenvolvimento de uma fenomenologia da interação.
Por outro lado, a adaptabilidade dos media tangíveis apresenta um conjunto de dificuldades, não apenas de ordem técnica, mas também de natureza conceptual, que têm dificultado o desenvolvimento e a implementação no terreno de tecnologias personalizáveis. Um dos objectivos da presente tese consiste em investigar um quadro conceptual capaz de enquadrar o fenómeno da adaptabilidade dos media tangíveis, e desenvolver uma tecnologia que possa servir de objecto a um estudo empírico com base numa abordagem etnográfica.<br>The present thesis will research the phenomenon of an emerging approach, the universe of Tangible Media, in the home environment, articulating the perspective of design of technology-oriented Human-Computer interation with the social, cultural and aesthetic use of technology. For this, it presents a model of interaction - Adaptable Tangible Artifacts (ATA) - based on three structuring concepts: the tangibility of interface, the adaptability at level of use and the discretionarity of the interaction context.
The tangible media, unlike what happens with conventional digital content, have physical expression and they are endowed with a body. This one inhabits the space of physical dispositions and are subject to the action of the cultural and social practices which rules other physical objects present in our everyday lives. This new relationship with digital technology oblige the fileds that are related to the technological development , such as Interaction Design and HCI , to open themselves to the contributions and approaches of the social sciences. Assuming that the underlying process of adaptability in home environment changes the equilibrium of the relationship between design and use of technology, we believe it is essential to develop a phenomenology of interaction.Moreover, the adaptability of the tangible medium presents a number of difficulties, not only technical but also conceptual nature, which have hindered the development and implementation of technologies in the pratical field. One objective of this thesis is to investigate a conceptual framework for the phenomenon of adaptability of tangible media and develop a technology that can serve as an empirical ethnographic study.

Previous issue date: 2014<br>Vários são os avanços teóricos e metodológicos das pesquisas sobre educação, especialmente nas três últimas décadas. Apesar disso, ainda é comum, no processo de ensino e de aprendizagem, o erro do aprendiz ser usado de forma negativa (punitiva), característica do paradigma da avaliação somativa. No paradigma da avaliação formativa e formadora, centrados nos processos internos (cognitivos) que favoreçam o aprender e na interação stricto sensu a cooperação, a autorregulação e a autoavaliação da aprendizagem são pontos centrais ao sucesso do aprendiz. Infelizmente, ainda é possível observar em sala de aula que os estudantes têm dificuldades em expressar suas dúvidas e em lidar com os erros cometidos, o que não ocorre quando utilizam artefatos tecnológicos interacionais, pois agem de forma mais ativa, autônoma, além de cooperar mutuamente, aspectos esses que se podem atribuir ao fato de poderem se manifestar livremente por terem preservadas suas identidades, desenvolvendo a capacidade de se autorregularem. Diante disso, esta pesquisa aborda o fenômeno da autorregulação com a estratégia de corregulação num trabalho cooperativo em pares, com a identidade preservada, com base no desenvolvimento e uso de um artefato social para avaliação formadora em ambiente virtual aprendizagem, por meio da estratégia de corregulação. O método de pesquisa é de exploração qualitativa, no qual o termo exploração ressalta a dimensão indutiva da mesma. Na concepção do artefato, utilizaram-se técnicas de prototipação de baixa e de alta fidelidades, com cenários baseados na Teoria da Atividade. O desenvolvimento do aplicativo foi realizado na linguagem Ruby, e implementado na plataforma Social Educativa Redu. As técnicas de coleta de dados (observação, vídeo de captura de tela, diário de auto-observação, entrevista semi-estruturada, análise de documentos e questionário) foram utilizadas na análise e triangulação dos dados, do estudo de caso realizado em Portugal, com estudantes do Ensino Secundário, em aulas conceituais de Física. Os resultados atestam a efetividade do uso do artefato para a corregulação da aprendizagem, a qual se confirmou por meio: da rede de interações, das ações e atividades dos estudantes, obtidas durante a realização de três rodadas de questões realizadas no aplicativo API - "Cooperação", ao longo de três meses.

O conforto humano foi aqui abordado numa perspectiva compreensiva e qualitativa. A partir da constatacao da disseminacao do conforto na vida da sociedade brasileira contemporanea, foi feita um estudo bibliometrico da aderencia ao tema pelas areas do conhecimento na base Scopus. Em seguida uma aproximacao semantica atraves da lingua portuguesa foi elaborada, em termos de morfologia, etimologia, acepcoes, sinonimia e relacoes de grupos analogicos. Foram identificados trinta e sete variacoes do vocabulo confortar distribuidas por varias classes de palavra o que evidencia a riqueza da sua cognacao. Tres nucleos acepcionais foram propostos relativos a nocao do conforto: o autoctone, o medieval e o moderno. A enfase no terceiro nucleo na atualidade tem conduzido a uma abordagem reducionista do sentido pleno do conforto e observamos como e feito uso dele no senso comum e por diversas disciplinas. Foi possivel observar a fragmentacao do conforto inter e intra disciplinar, sendo que na enfermagem se encontra uma reflexao mais consistente sobre o tema. Na falta de uma reflexao seminal sobre o conforto, anterior a sua disciplinarizacao, a pesquisa rumou por um entendimento compreensivo desse fenomeno e sua relacao com o desenvolvimento humano ao lidar com suas multiplas nocoes, seus aspectos semanticos e perscrutando-o mediante uma abordagem hibrida com enfase fenomenologica. O trabalho intentou em contribuir para que o conforto venha a se constituir numa categoria do pensamento humano. Ao ser colocado em questao, tambem foi justificado porque o situamos entre o afeto e o artefato e suas implicacoes gerais em relacao ao ser humano engajado no mundo<br>Human comfort has been approached here in a comprehensive and qualitative perspective. Based on the finding of the dissemination of comfort in the life of contemporary Brazilian society, a bibliometric analysis of the adherence to the theme by the areas of knowledge in the Scopus database was made. Then a semantic approximation through the Portuguese language was elaborated, in terms of morphology, etymology, meanings, synonymy and relations of analogical groups. Thirty-seven variations of the word comfort were identified, distributed across several classes of words, which evidences the richness of their cognition. Three accepted cores were proposed concerning the notion of comfort: autochthonous, medieval and modern. The emphasis on the third core nowadays has led to a reductionist approach to the full sense of comfort and we see how it is made use of it in common sense and across disciplines. It was possible to observe the fragmentation of comfort, inter and intra-disciplinary, and in nursing there is a more consistent reflection on the subject. In the absence of a seminal reflection of comfort, prior to its disciplinarization, the research focused on a comprehensive understanding of this phenomenon and its relation to human development in dealing with its multiple notions, its semantic aspects and peering through hybrid approach with phenomenological emphasis. The work has attempted to contribute to the comfort of being a category of human thought. When put in question, it was also justified because we place it between affection and artifact and its general implications in relation to the human being engaged in the world

women of Mocambo do Arari, in Parintins, Amazonas State. As goals to be developed, I
intended to analyse their work, their way of life, sociability and their social recognition in the
environment of this rural community inside Amazonas. Thus, the clay craft is recognized as
an aesthetical sensitizer of a self recognition to these women. It is a qualitative research with
ethnographical approach, in which, they, as recallers and as characters, build their
experiences, make their work, turning their achievements visible, so that we can understand
them: who they were, who they are, how they live and survive. During the research process,
we´ve brought voice to seventeen pan makers women in the São Tomé communities and in
Vila de São João. A key point conducted the whole investigation process: the craft work gives
them their own identity and makes changes in their life conditions by their modelling and the
environmental organization. Therefore, they are part of the historicity and of the
environmental culture of this hidden place called Mocambo do Arari in Parintins-AM.<br>Esta tese tem como objeto o trabalho e o cotidiano de vida das mulheres paneleiras na região
do Mocambo do Arari no Município de Parintins, Estado do Amazonas. Como objetivos
pretendi analisar o trabalho delas, o modo de vida, a sociabilidade e o reconhecimento social,
no ambiente dessa comunidade rural no interior do Amazonas. Portanto, caracteriza-se o
artesanato cerâmico como sensibilizador estético de auto reconhecimento dessas mulheres.
Trata-se de uma pesquisa qualitativa com aproximações etnográficas, nas quais elas, tanto
rememorizadoras como personagens, constroem suas experiências, produzem seu
trabalho/obra, dando visibilidade aos seus feitos, para, assim, entendê-las: quem foram, quem
são ou vivem e também sobrevivem. Durante o processo de investigação garantimos voz de
dezessete mulheres paneleiras que fizeram parte da pesquisa nas comunidades de São Tomé e
na Vila de São João. Uma questão-chave norteou e conduziu o processo de investigação: o
trabalho artesanal praticado pelas mulheres paneleiras lhes garante uma identidade própria, e
provoca uma mudança nas condições de vida, por meio da arte de modelar e organização do
ambiente em que vivem. Sendo assim, elas fazem parte da historicidade e da cultura
ambiental deste lugar escondido chamado Mocambo do Arari em Parintins -AM.

Na Costa Rica, durante a década de 70 foi dada autorização a uma série de instituições estatais e privadas para a aquisição de peças arqueológicas provenientes de contextos arqueológicos saqueados. Esta prática era para evitar que as peças saíssem do país. Como consequência o saque de sítios arqueológicos cresceu, uma vez que se tornara uma entrada de dinheiro segura para muitas famílias costa-riquenhas, já que as instituições acabavam por comprar as peças. Em 1982, a Lei do Património Nacional Nº 6703 proibiu o comércio, exportação e aquisição de peças arqueológicas fora dos parâmetros científicos, deixando uma série de instituições com grandes colecções de artefactos roubados.A seguinte investigação tem como objectivo realizar uma exposição temporária no Museu do Jade com peças arqueológicas com formas animais. A limitação que apresentam estas peças é a falta de conhecimento do seu contexto arqueológico, uma vez terem sido adquiridas pela forma anteriormente mencionada.Tomando em conta a problemática do saque de sítios arqueológicos na Costa Rica e a falta de contexto destas peças, cria-se uma contrariedade para a sua utilização na sociabilização do conhecimento e educação patrimonial. The purpose of this measure was to prevent the pieces from leaving the country. As a consequence, the plunder of archaeological sites rised, beacuse it became a safe extra income for the costa-rican families, as these Institucions ran by purchasing artifacts. In 1982, the National Heritage Law Nº6703 as banned the trade, exportation and acquisicion of archaeolocal artifacts outside scientifical parameters, leaving a number of Institucions with large collections of robbed artifacts. The goal of this investigation is to make a temporary exhibition in the Jade Museum, with animal-shapped artifacts, despite the problematic explained. Taking in account the pillage of archaeological sites problems, in Costa Rica and the absence of Archaeological context of the pieces, there is a number of limitations on the use of them for Sociabilization and Archaeological Heritage Education. Therefore we pretend to discuss the features they present, as an attempts to justify it scientific use and restore the context once lost. Since that the re contextualization of the artifacts was an approach to comparative studies, is taken as a presuposittion the need of further line of investigations.

The research performed in 153 firms from different industries, investigates the factors behind digital transformation maturity, using the institutional theory as part of the technology-organization-environment (TOE) framework, relating those contexts with the organizational innovativeness and moderating it with the artifacts of innovation and with the knowledge management.<br>Este trabalho visa contribuir para uma melhor compreensão dos fatores que descrevem a maturidade da transformação digital ao nível da empresa, ajudando as organizações a identificar deficiências na sua eficiência e propondo um modelo conceitual que possa auxiliar a elevação da maturidade na transformação digital. A pesquisa realizada em 153 empresas de diferentes setores, investiga os fatores por detrás da maturidade na transformação digital, usando a teoria institucional como parte da estrutura TOE (tecnologia-organização-ambiente), relacionando os seus contextos com a inovação organizacional e moderando este com os artefactos de inovação e com a gestão do conhecimento.

Generations of archaeologists have done well to remember the truism that ‘absence of evidence is not evidence of absence’. About fifteen years ago I presented Barry Cunliffe with what I regarded as some rather distressingly blank distribution maps of various Iron Age artefacts in northwest France. Far from agreeing with my pessimistic view of the possibility of saying anything very meaningful about such paltry evidence, Barry reminded me of the ‘absence of evidence’ maxim, and encouraged me to think more deeply about the apparent gaps, and to question my assumptions about the usefulness or otherwise of the data—in short, to look more positively at the opportunities for investigating such seemingly negative evidence. It is perhaps a little ironic, then, that in this tribute to Barry’s unrivalled influence on Iron Age studies, I would like to present an example where I am nearly sure that the absence of evidence does indicate evidence of absence. My subject is the lack of a significant gold coinage among the Durotriges of Dorset, in contrast to every other major coin-using polity in late Iron Age Britain. My aim is to demonstrate that this lack of gold coinage is a genuine phenomenon, and not the result of partial or inadequate evidence; and to suggest some reasons why this situation may have arisen. Before focusing more narrowly on Dorset in the mid-first century BC, we need to consider the background to the importation and the production of gold coinage in Britain. Although there were probably very occasional imports of coinage from the time of the earliest ‘Celtic’ imitations, perhaps in the mid-third century BC, the first significant inflows of gold coin did not occur until at least the mid-second century BC. These began with the ‘large flan’ stater and quarter stater (Gallo-Belgic A), probably struck in central and western Belgic Gaul, in the territories later identified with the Ambiani and the Bellovaci. Their distribution in Britain is focused on the Thames estuary, with the majority of findspots in Essex and Kent (Sills 2003: 136, 153). At roughly the same time, the ‘defaced die’ staters and quarter staters (Gallo-Belgic B) were also imported into Britain, perhaps from the territory of the Nervii (Sills 2003: 185–6).

Introdução: A educação ambiental surge frente à necessidade de preservação do meio ambiente e dos recursos naturais, por isso sua implementação configura em um processo que promove sensibilização de novos saberes para aprender processos sociais mais complexos na formação de uma consciência crítica e cidadã, voltada para proposição e execução de políticas públicas. Portanto, realizou-se a I Semana de Sensibilização Ambiental na escola Estadual CETI Fauzer Bucar, os alunos da 1ª, 2ª e 3ª série do Ensino Médio participaram da oficina de materiais recicláveis. Material e métodos: Atividade foi desenvolvida pelos bolsistas do programa Institucional de Bolsas de Iniciação à Docência (PIBID) do Instituto Federal do Piauí- campus Floriano. As turmas trouxeram materiais de suas casas como: garrafas pet, garrafas de vidros, palitos de picolé, revistas, jornais. Foram até a quadra poliesportiva para participarem de uma palestra. Em seguida, os alunos foram organizados em grupos ficando responsáveis por produzir um tipo de artefato com os materiais. Objetivos: apresentar os resultados de uma oficina sobre materiais recicláveis numa escola da rede estadual de Floriano (PI), com o intuito de sensibilizar os alunos sobre o reaproveitamento dos materiais recicláveis. Resultados: A participação de todos os segmentos que compõem a escola foi satisfatório. Os alunos participaram ativamente da palestra e na confecção dos materiais recicláveis. Portanto o objetivo central do projeto foi alcançado, tendo em vista o envolvimento e colaboração do público alvo. Através da reciclagem proporcionou-se aos discentes da instituição uma motivação para adoção de atitudes sustentáveis no dia a dia, almejando-se a formação e a modificação do atual contexto social catastrófico, por um ambiente ecologicamente preservado. Conclusão: A oficina sobre materiais recicláveis realizada na escola, contribuiu na importância da reciclagem para a preservação do meio ambiente e a consequente aquisição de renda, por meio dos artefatos confeccionados. Perceptível o interesse e a motivação dos discentes em enriquecer seu conhecimento sobre a temática abordada. Nesta experiência foram construídos ensinamentos e preceitos aos bolsistas e professores, referente a relevância da efetuação de ações sustentáveis no ambiente escolar para a formação de sujeitos críticos e ecologicamente conscientes.

O objetivo deste artigo é apresentar a evolução no processo de criação de regras em um ambiente de educação online para emergir uma inteligência coletiva. Neste artigo apresento a evolução das regras em um ambiente online gamificado. O objetivo inicial da pesquisa era obter o engajamento a partir da gamificação, o que se mostrou bastante eficiente. A pesquisa foi dividida em três ciclos e, ao final de cada ciclo, a avaliação das regras permitiu sua evolução. Esta pesquisa utilizou o paradigma epistemológico Design Sicence Research (DSR), uma forma de fazer ciência que tem como um de seus produtos um artefato, neste caso, as regras (um modelo) e sua aplicação (uma instanciação).

Para facilitar o desenvolvimento de material acadêmico para grupos em ambientes remotos, foi proposta a estrutura para a Sumarização de Informações Relevantes em Ambientes Remotos Colaborativos (SIRColab). Fundamentado na metodologia Design Science Research (DSR), este artefato consiste em um formulário contendo as informações mais relevantes a serem buscadas durante a leitura de um artigo. A avaliação investiga as principais estratégias de estudo e combinações de grupos baseados em suas personalidades.

Considerando um cenário cada vez mais dinâmico que requer mudanças constantes, o desenvolvimento de software atual exige que pessoas e organizações controlem a qualidade dos artefatos gerados ao longo de seu processo. Alterações nos artefatos de software podem ocorrer por vários fatores, seja para corrigir a funcionalidade ou adaptar-se à nova demanda de negócios. Além disso, esses artefatos geralmente são elaborados de forma colaborativa, o que faz com que, para garantir sua qualidade, seja necessária a adoção de práticas de Gerenciamento de Configuração de Software (GCS). Os ambientes dos grupos de pesquisa em computação se assemelham em muitos aspectos aos ambientes de desenvolvimento de software, nos quais o principal artefato produzido é o software. Esses softwares, elaborados em várias pesquisas e por muitos pesquisadores, precisam ter sua qualidade controlada. Nesse sentido, o objetivo deste trabalho é propor um conjunto de políticas de GCS para ambientes de grupos de pesquisa. Espera-se que, com a implementação de políticas como as propostas, a qualidade do software desenvolvido em ambientes acadêmicos possa ser melhorada.

O enfoque deste artigo, recorte de pesquisa de doutoramento desenvolvida em parceria entre (identificação das instituiçoes omitida para revisão), aborda o âmbito do ensino de projeto em graduações de design de moda. Com ênfase na investigação de metodologias para gerir o processo projetual, propõe estratégias facilitadoras da sintaxe visual para a configuraçao de artefatos de vestuário de moda. Para isso, parte de uma pesquisa exploratória, de base bibliográfica e documental, em que se analisa o sistema de interações construído entre vestimenta e usuário, para demonstrar que as relações estabelecidas no sistema corpo-artefato-ambiente se distribuem em fatores de adaptação física, expressão individual e representação social. Deste modo, situa o vestuário de moda como um espaço de vivências sensoriais que produz significações e enfatiza a dimensão estético-simbólica como quesito essencial no planejamento da experiência de uso deste tipo de produto. Tal perspectiva corrobora a relevancia de ferramentas metodológicas que propiciem a síntese de códigos expressivos para guiar a composição formal, com vistas à articulação entre as dimensões material e informacional do artefato projetado, uma vez que a informação (conteúdo) é transmitida pela sintaxe dos elementos da configuração (forma). Sobre esta plataforma, o artigo relata as bases teóricas, a proposição e a aplicação de uma ferramenta destinada à geração de conceitos formais na prática projetual do design de moda. A explanação integra fundamentos acerca da gestão sistêmica do projeto, do pensamento visual e das técnicas de síntese imagética, para examinar apreciações em campo e discutir a efetividade da referida ferramenta. Os resultados reforçam a hipótese de que a combinação de métodos que exploram o pensamento visual pode facilitar a visão sistêmica do processo projetual, auxiliando os estudantes na percepção das diversas variáveis que influenciam a composição formal de um produto e, por conseguinte, na síntese de relações sintático-semânticas para impulsionar a geração formal. Ainda que os resultados se refiram às aplicações práticas no universo acadêmico do design de moda, as mesmas estratégias poderiam ser estendidas a outras experimentações, visto que as ferramentas de síntese visual favorecem a percepção de conexões simultâneas e, como meio de organização cognitiva, facilitam a expressão de abstrações e a síntese de conceitos.DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.4995/IFDP.2016.3269
