Appendix 6 of the ANSI/AISC 360-10 Specification provides methods for assessing the required stiffness and strength for basic bracing of columns and of beams. Substantial evidence exists showing that the Appendix 6 equations provide an accurate characterization of the stability bracing requirements, particularly when various refinements from the AISC Commentary are employed. Field studies were used to characterize habitat and evaluate morphological characters of Carex glaucescens, C. joorii and C. verrucosa. Morphometric analysis of herbarium specimens along with field studies, Environmental Scanning Electron Microscopy (ESEM), pollen viability and phenology show C. glaucescens, C. joorii and C. verrucosa to be taxonomically distinguishable at the species level. While food recalls are receiving growing attention amongst consumers, they are also of great importance from a company perspective. By applying an event study method, we examine the impact of recalls on the stock price of affected companies. Our paper contributes to the existing literature in three ways. First, our study shows that the average reduction in firm value after twenty days is approximately $304 million. Second, we identify two explanatory variables not identified by previous literature.
