Full textIn this work, we have developed a chemoenzymatic method to enantiomerically synthesize enriched organoselenium amines (1-(2, 3 or 4 -(ethylselanyl)phenyl)ethanamine) and amides (N-(1-(2, 3 or 4-(ethylselanyl)phenyl)ethyl)acetamide). Initially, the organoselenium amines, in the racemic form, were synthesized from ortho-, meta- and para- aminoacetophenones. The incorporation of the selenium atom into the aromatic ketones was achieved by the use of reaction of potassium selenocyanate and diazonium salts, prepared from aminoacetophenones, to afford selenocyanate acetophenones (28-65 %). These compounds were alkylated with alkyl halide to yield the organoselenium acetophenones (1-(2, 3 or 4-(ethylselanyl)phenyl)ethanone) (63-78 %) which were converted into their corresponding racemic organoselenium amines by reductive amination (39-73 %). After developing the protocol for the synthesis of racemic organoselenium amines, we studied the kinetic resolution of these compounds by their acetylation mediated by lipases. An initial study was carried out with the organoselenium amine para substituted, as a model substrate, in order to screen for appropriate lipase, solvent, temperature, lipase/substrate ratio and acylant. This study showed that the ideal condition to conduct the kinetic resolution was CAL-B as biocatalyst, hexane as solvent and ethyl acetate or ethyl methoxyacetate as acylant at 30°C. By using this protocol, the organoselenium amides were prepared in excellent enantiomeric excess (99 %).

Full textThe aim of this work is to evaluate the economic performance - energy operational cost and investment cost - of the chemical absorption process using carbon dioxide desorption (CO2), comparing the following solvents of the amine class: monoethanolamine (MEA) and (MDEA / PZ), using the Aspen Plus® process simulator. For primary evaluation purpose of the absorption operation, a mathematical absorption model was developed in a spreadsheet, to compare and validate the behavior of the temperature profiles resulting from simulations with Aspen Plus. This model was developed from the pre-specified mass transfer parameters and process variables. Both in the spreadsheet model and in the AspenPlus® model, the dimensioning of the absorption and desorption columns were defined from the process variables, considering hydrodynamic and mass transfer aspects. The simulations were performed initially in the open cycle, with the initial concentrations of amines, and then in closed cycle, with the bottom stream of the desorption column recycled to feed the absorption column, with almost equal load coefficients, emulating the closed loop. Based on the literature, the following conditions were established: the ratio of 1: 4 (by mass) between the gas flow of the air / CO2 mixture and the flow rate of the amine solution; operating pressure ranges of 1.0 bar (abs) at 1.3 bar (abs) at absorption, and 2.2 bar (abs.) at desorption; efficiency of 94% CO2 recovery. The data presented, comparing MEA and the MDEA / PZ mixture revealed a reduction in the energy consumption factor in the order of 15% in what concerns the desorption system using MDEA / PZ. Estimates of operating costs and investment costs were computed for economic analysis. The credit obtained by the difference in the annual operating cost between the two alternatives ranged from US $ 50,000.00 / year to US $ 140,000.00, due to the volatility of the energy price.

Full textThe influence of cis/trans isomery on the reactivity of complexes of the type [RuCl2(DMSO)3(L)], where L = DMSO (2;4), n-butylamine (1;3) in the ring-opening metathesis polymerization (ROMP) was investigated. The complexes 1 and 2 showed isomerism fac, while the complexes were 3 and 4 were trans and mer, respectively. The crystallographic data suggest a fac conformation for the new complex 1. The electronic and steric parameters from ligands, measured by pKa values and θ, respectively, were used for interpretation of the results. The cyclic monomers used were norbornene (NBE), norbornadiene (NBD) and dicyclopentadiene (DCPD), given as parameters the molar ratios monomer/complex, temperature, reaction time and geometric structure. The cis complexes were more active than the trans complex for polymerization of norbornene and norbornadiene, and the results at 50 oC better than the results at 25 oC. The polymerization of norbornadiene, unlike the polymerization of norbornene, best yields were obtained with complexes containing trans-positioned chloro ligands. All compounds were characterized by elemental analysis, FTIR, cyclic voltammetry, UV-vis spectroscopy, NMR 1H and 13C spectroscopy and x-ray diffraction. In addition, combination of theoretical and experimental results data for ROMP reactions of norbornene using [RuCl2(PPh3)2(piperidine)] shows the structural optimization of the species involved in the catalysis and the thermodynamic profile of the whole reaction. Entropic factors explain the spontaneity observed for dissociation from both leaving groups, which are endothermic processes. Immediately after the rate-determining step occurs the coordination of a norbornene molecule and a trans- synergistic effect between the monomer and ligand piperidine actives the catalysis. The use of other diazocompostos (TBDA and BDA) was done to analyze the electronic and steric influences of the carbene in question. Electronic effects had less influence on the structure of the active species than the steric effects, influencing the yield and the data of the polymers formed.

Full textThe cyclopalladation of optically pure primary and tertiary amines and imines is described. The corresponding optically pure dinuclear cyclopalladated compounds with chlorido bridging ligands reacted with racemic phosphines (P or alpha chiral) giving two diastereoisomeric mononuclear compounds with trans-N,P configuration. In most of the cases, preparative column chromatography allowed the separation of these compounds, and, in one case, an optically pure tertiary P-chiral phosphine was liberated from the trans-N,P mononuclear compound and transferred to a Pd(mu(3)-allyl)chlorido fragment. The corresponding adduct was used as a precatalyst for the hydrovinylation reaction with good for the chemoselectivity and the enantioselectivty of the reaction

Full textIn this work, the kinetic resolution of β-borylated carboxylic esters via lipase-catalyzed hydrolysis and transesterification reactions was evaluated. Esteres with different carbon chains were synthesized. The enantioselective hydrolysis catalyzed by CAL-B furnished the corresponding β-borylated carboxylic acid with reasonable enantiomeric excess (ee 62%), while both methyl and ethyl β-borylated carboxylic esters were recovered with excellent enantiomeric purity (ee>99%). The enantioselective transesterification reaction of β-borylated carboxylic esters and several alcohols, catalyzed by CAL-B, only indicated a high selectivity when ethanol and methyl-(β-pinacolylboronate)-butanoate were used as substrates, which gave the enantioenriched ethyl-(β-pinacolylboronate)-butanoate (ee >99%). However, esters with longer carbon chains or steric hindrance at the carboxyl group did not undergo the desired reactions, even at high temperatures. Additionally, the asymmetric reductive amination ω-transaminase catalyzed of boron-containing (acid, ester or potassium trifluoroborate) prochiral ketones was investigated. After the syntheses of aromatic and aliphatic ketones, the best results of biotransformation were obtained with (R)-selective ω-transaminases from Arthrobacter sp. and Aspergillus terreus and (S)-selective one from Chromobacterium violaceum. Under the optimized conditions, high conversions (94%) with perfect enantioselectivities (ee >99%) were found, providing a new access to (R) or (S) boron-containing amines under mild reaction conditions.
