Inverse melting of body-centered cubic (bcc) Nb45Cr55 is studied using transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and high resolution TEM (HRTEM). In 1977, mathematician Robert Connelly discovered a unique eighteen-sided closed, hinged polyhedron that, remarkably, wiggled, overturning centuries of mathematical discourse linking polyhedra with rigidity. Abstract Hydroxyapatite (HAp) is known to be bioactive, i.e. able to bond to bone. This makes HAp very suitable to be applied as coatings on bone-metallic implants. In this work high velocity oxy-fuel spraying (HVOF) was used successfully for obtaining hydroxyapatite coatings on Ti-6Al-4V substrates. With optimized HVOF process parameters, coatings with similar bond strength to plasma sprayed HAp coatings, good microstructure and higher crystallinity degree than atmospheric plasma sprayed ones were obtained. Objective. We report the study of feasibility to produce the thing bioactive coating from experimental dental cement using pulsed laser deposition (PLD) technique. Methods. The targets for PLD system (disks 30 mm in diameter × 5 mm thick) were sintered from micronized powder of set Alborg White Portland cement (WPC).
